It's time! After running the pilot as an experiment last month, we're now ready to get this show started on a regular basis.
When? Thursday at 21:00 CET, 3pm est, the LLL Weekly Show goes live.
What? A showmatch, followed by a discussion on the match and various other topics.
Who? Pholon, the liquipedialegend. Maven from GosuGamers. Martijn from GLHF.tv and LLL fame. And on a rotating basis, top European pro players.
Where? It'll be live on www.glhf.tv and will be made available on demand.
Several times people have come up to me and asked "why don't you do any regular shows?" or "why are all the sc2 shows so late Into the night for Europeans?" or "Martijn I want to have your babies!" (no, seriously, they have...) So the overminds at LowLandLions spawned a new concoction; the LLL Weekly Show to try to meet the demand for a regular show, with a European friendly schedule.
The formula for the LLL Weekly Show is to have a showmatch with 2 pros and some discussion after, giving you a chance to ask any questions you might have for them. Aside from that we will take some time to discuss a unit of the week, it's unit concept and it's uses. Lastly we go over GSL, BDL and the weekly cup results. For those that haven't watched all those games, this'll be your chance to find out which games to watch and for those that have a chance to relive some of the best matches.
Important: Win free hardware: We've gone forward with it. For me it's fairly exciting to have a sponsor which is letting us give away hardware like this. On the 7th during the LLL Weekly we will give away a WD Velociraptor 600GB sata harddrive. This harddrive is exactly what a gamer should want in his computer and we're giving one away no real strings attached.
I'm really hoping a lot of people retweet the message because not only will you have a chance to win a free harddrive, but also if this becomes very popular, it'll allow us to do more giveaways like this in the future.
Things noted so far: - Game sound on preferably during the showmatch - Names of guests visible on the screen - Introduction with the players before the match - Mentioning of some european news regarding players and tournaments - Screening of questions through chat
help me out if i forgot some, ustream chat does not have history :-(
cu all next week, same day, same time (and hopefully on time then :p)
Tomorrow we'll be going back to our roots and have Servant, who of course left a huge mark on dreamhack by beating morrow and sjow, facing Zion from LLL who has been doing quite well in the recent UK tournaments.
Wow, I didn't catch this for a long time, was planning to do this myself as Europe was lacking of such a format. Thank your for starting this, though I have a question:
Would it be possible to extract an audio-only file (at least of the discussion part in case of games) to have it run on an mp3 player? I'm eagerly searching for any kind of audio-only starcraft stuff for the tube
Please leave feedback as to how we can improve the show! I feel we're not nearly getting as many viewer as we'd like. What are some things you'd want to see? More interviews with famous people? More viewer questions? Is it a bad time maybe? Let us know
I just didn't know about the show until yesterday when I caught the tail end! Do you put an audio only podcast up afterwards? I honestly have no idea even what day SotG airs but just listen when it shows up in iTunes :-)
Just saw this. I like these kinda podcasts so dont know why I only finding this now x) Going to download them and watch ^^ I'll give some feedback later.
I agree on andytb that mp3 would much better as I never watch these on my pc. Not even SotG. I think you suffer from what GGRated is suffering. Most people don't even know you exist, I'm not good at marketing so I don't really know how you can spread the word I hope you start getting more viewers so you won't feel discouraged to continue.
I only heard a short bit of the show, about 15 minutes or so. One thing you could definantely improve, is the sound quality. It was kinda unpleasant to listen to at times and hard to understand what you guys where saying, because of the static.
With having missed the last one sadly and waiting for the Vod: I love your show, and I would love to give some feedback: A few things on feedback: - a mp3 version would be really great, but it obviously does not help live viewer numbers. - I would love if you would pick one great and well known match or series on a big tournament that is about a week ago and analyze it from your perspective, disect it a bit - I would also say, maybe set up one big discussion topic per show that is more arbitrary (examples: comparison of RTS experience backgrounds in retrospect, the role of teams and clans nowadays, perspective of matchup development compared with broodwar history, stuff like that) - maybe add another host or guest that is willing to talk about background (league admin, team manager)
In general, more advertisement. I think many people don't catch the show, and I only got onto it because I PMed Maven.
Thanks alot for the feedback, we are definately considering a podcast channel, and I am looking into the specifics as we speak for both the setup as well as the riping of audio from the vod's. This should be available in about a week or so.
As for the audio quality, it is something I will discuss with Martijn as it was good before and is getting worse now, so probably some settings for the recording we need to look into. We will have that fixed asap. And tbh I didn't expect RotterdaM having such a crappy microphone :p no offence rotterdam, u still rock <3
About the small amount of viewers, I think there are several reasons for that, liveviewers definately get a boost when theres a showmatch (live or replay). A second issue with our latest weekly was the fact that both Ret and TLO where streaming at the very same time, something we can not know beforehand, but those two obviously attract alot of our potential viewers.
Any further comments are very much appreciated, we want to make this show of good quality rather than attracting 10000's of viewers, but there is a minimum to it as well. It must be both interesting as well as entertaining, a tough mix for an organisation that does not have many promotional means at hand, but we do our best :-)
One thing you might try out as you can profit from his popularity aswell as him profiting on having a hub in the esports community would be to try to get TotalBiscuit on aswell for general discussions, if he is interested.
Tonight on LLL Weekly we'll have a showmatch between the newest addition of Mouz, Syck, and Low Land Lion's Sheriff as well as a TSL preview.
Now please stand by for a message from the GHLF (Gamer Hardware Liberation Force);
Long have we fought for the noble goal of getting gamers the hardware they want, the hardware they need, the hardware they crave for! Join us tonight as we try to secure a 600GB 10.000rpm WD VelociRaptor. If we are able to reach 1000 viewers during tonights broadcast, we will release details on how you can win one of these harddrives. We will contact the winner within 7 days.
Short version; IF (and only if) we reach 1000 viewers during todays show, we'll hold a contest to give out one of these harddrives. So please spread the word!
Yeah I know, I suck at showmanship, but sponsors willing to give free stuff ;o Come on now
