IDRA-he's a macro beast and in his matches against Nony in the HDH he very convincingly showed how to play macro zerg and how to overwhelm your opponent
TLO-his creativity has been unmatched and he is one of the most exciting player to watch, while still proving to be a very formidable opponent. also his ability to play random really shows his game knowledge
WHITERA-he has shown his ability to win tournaments time and time again in the beta and other than TESTER appears to be the best protoss player
TESTER-Captain-although we have not seen him much he very solidly defeated idra and whitera in the TL altitude invitational.....arguably best protoss/best beta player
MAKA-very strong terran player, and i needed a terran player and maka fit the role and is perhaps one of the best players of the beta
|
- (T) CowGoMoo - was the best terran in the game at the beginning of the beta, just a monster in general (apparently he worked for blizzard; who say's blizz employee's suck? :D) - then he disappeared - (Z) KingHillBilly - this MFer showed us how the infestor did business early beta, think he even made "news" early beta and easily another amazing player - went back to WC2 - (Z) Oversky - we all ran like school girls early beta for his replays, was just dominating #1 for so long - where did he go? - (P) ReSpOnSe (think I messed up his name) - he showed us why PvP was broken early beta, easily one of the unknown top players who put some of the top players in their place (Louder, etc...) - just came back at the end of beta (left at the beginning/first half) - (Z) Dimaga - Captain - tournament winner, enough said
+ Show Spoiler + /facepalm at all the 2nd half of the beta names people are choosing (same ole` shit) - no offense I would of added nazgul, but he's just been good overall
|
IdrA (captain) - What is there to say about the guy that hasn't already been said. Incredible macro player that has proven his dominance countless times.
White-Ra - Humble Protoss powerhouse who arguably has been the best beta competitor thus far at 89 years of age
Dimaga - Solid Zerg player. Very consistent and creative.
Artosis - Not only can he tell you how to be a great SC2 player, he can display it on a regular basis.
Machine - Promising young Zerg player, and has been my favorite to watch since the beta began.
Yeah I know what your thinking..... 4 Zerg players? These are the 5 guys that come to mind when I think of the 5 best players so far. O and did I say I hate Terran? Lol Im still waiting to see a IdrA, Drewbie, Orb, Joseki, (?) super bad manner team

I totally agree with you about Response. I wouldn't put him in my top 5, but he is a very good overlooked player

KHB and CowGoMoo are such good players. I would really like to see more of them.

Your team has very few accomplishments! But I'd probably choose my team the same way -- by looking for potential in players as opposed to hard results. Most people are going to pick winning players for their team and I can't blame them. Saying that they're "2nd half of the beta names" is kinda a bad description. Tons of tournaments, many with significant prize money, were being rolled out toward the end of the beta. The people who were able to consistently get results through many patches and against a variety of opponents deserve more respect than the people who were able to find an imbalanced build (that would later get patched) and abuse it or dominate the ladder with the metagame or dominate the ladder because they're a Blizzard employee (no offense to CowGoMoo's skills, but come on that's a pretty unfair advantage haha). Well, really no offense to anyone on your list, but like you said they pretty much all went inactive so it's difficult to judge. Basically what I'm trying to say is that there was much more material to judge in the second half of beta than in the first half. And if you take players' absence from the game as one of their qualities, then of course you wouldn't want that player on your dream team. One second you'll have 5 people on your team and the next second you'll have 1. Not very dreamy!
I'd make a list but I'm bound to offend someone because five spots aren't enough =] So obviously the dream team is Nazgul (captain) NonY TLO Jinro Haypro

Pretty much this except I would swap Sen for TLO. He's been around the Starcraft scene for so long that his experience has helped him fine tune his mechanics and develop an amazing sense of gameplay.
Idra (Z) Sen(Z) White-Ra (P) Tester (P) Maka (T)

Truth, I completely agree. I think I worded it badly, but what I meant by my statement was no one looked at anyone as "good" until later stages of the beta, and I just don't like the repeat 5-6 people constantly showing up even if they are amazing ^^. + Show Spoiler +(I had to space your shit out xD wall of text) PS is that Team Liquid I see!!! :D

1. Sen (Z) -Very intelligent and adaptive player. Amazing playstyle, good results so far with only more potential ahead. Sen is a fucking beast. He also has his own style, and it works for him. He will be tough to practice for. Easily the best Zerg in terms of his style and how he makes it work. He mindfucks his opponents.
2. TesteR (P) (Captain) -Barbarian Protoss enters SC2 and realizes there is no 'Defenders Advantage' like there was in BW. Barbarian Protoss proceeds to rape nerds faces off everywhere and pillage....he is captain because of his extensive progaming experience but more importantly his coaching experience building up eSTRO's P lineup.
3. Maka (T) -Very solid and strong Terran player, no apparent weaknesses. He has varied styles and strategies that he can employ. Good mechanics and micro/macro. He is just a very good player...not much more to say here.
4. Ace (P) -Baller as FUCK. Very good strategist. Does crazy shit but is also a fundamentally solid player, although his fundamentals aren't at the top of the top level right now I believe they will catch up to his mind. With training he has a lot of potential to be the LOLTOSS that everyone loves to see.
5. Dimaga (Z) -Only non-asian, but not a token one. Remember when IdrA praised Dimaga? That's because the kid knows that no matter how many 22 hour days he puts in he cant have the skill that Dimaga possesses. Playing at the top level in the world with a creative style as zerg is not easy, not easy at all. Dimaga has solid macro and rarely if ever slips. He has very good ZvP and ZvT.
Honorable Mention NonY (ok honestly NonY >> ACE but ill stick with my team) Freedom Idra White-Ra

My team would be as follows:
Captain: Nony - Great all-around player, been in it for years, and knows what it takes to be a top-level player, also I think Nony would just be a great captain in general.
IdrA - I like his Zerg play, and despite how he may have played in BW, his performance in the Beta has been quite good. Also he is an anchor between NA/EU play-styles and Korean play-style as he's lived there for some time now.
White-Ra - Quite simply a no-brainer here, one of the oldest and most experience players in the game today and shows very powerful Protoss play.
QXC - One of the best Terrans out there right now, he plays good consistent MUs and does well versus all the races. Also has good creative play at times, and one of the strongest MMM pushes we've seen.
Jinro - The other beast Terran, has a different style than QXC, and if this team were to ever exist the two of them would work very well together in the practice room, and complement each other. Solid all-around player, and isn't new to RTS by any means.
|
Well, here would be my North America team(Just to put a little twist on things). Ya I know NA sucks at BW but I think we might see a lot better players coming out from North America in SC2(At least this is my hope).
qxc(Terran) - Beastly terran player. I was just blown away by how much thought he puts into all his builds. Very methodical and calm in all situations
Huk(Protoss) - Strong up and coming protoss player. Definately has the drive to be great.
Idra(Zerg)(he counts as NA right?) - Love him or hate him his play is solid as hell. People say he is weak to cheese but watching his sc2 tourniment play that does not seem to be the case. If anything people that try to cheese Idra in SC2 usually seem to lose.
Machine(Zerg) - Another up and coming player. Has show very solid play especially against white-ra.
Nony(Protoss) - Nony has had his ups and downs in the SC2 beta. However, I think if he put his mind to SC2 he would be an absolute monster.
|
Tester (Toss, Captain) - Beastly skill and experience. Strong tourney performance, coaching experience, this guy has everything needed to lead the dream team.
Sen (Zerg) - Creative, aggressive with the ability to school many of the top players in the world I don't see any dream team being complete without him. Also very calm and collected in tourneys.
Jupiter (Terran) - Super creative and aggressive Korean player with a ton of potential and promise. His TvZ and TvT MU's are in particular very strong and in the team atmosphere will flourish into a really top player.
Maka (Terran) - Very strong strategically and creatively. Has a few inconsistency/tilt issues that I would get the rest of the team to help him on but overall a super strong player.
Lucifron (Terran) - Very strong potent player that has a long history of reliable tourney results and play in general. Definitely a player that will perform in the long term.
|
All Australian~!!!! - Moonglade - Pretty much undisputed aus #1 atm - Azz - Only Australian to do well in any international tournament - Deth - Only real australian terran - Shuffle - Mainly cos everyone else i thought of putting here is protoss and having three protoss seemed dirty ;o - Pinder (Captain) - This guys pretty amazing at everything including life in general, practically a role model for everyone.

White-Ra: I would have White-Ra on my Team because of his solid understanding of the Game, but he also is not afraid to play off the beaten track and cheese every once in a while which would keep his opponents on his toes, but if they over anticipate for a cheese and you didn't do one they are forced to do a build in Where they would have good protection in the early game but MaY cripple their late Game strat.
Sen: I would have to pick Sen to be one of the Team mates that you Just can't count out Ever in a Game. It seems like Sen to me has a great understanding of situations that are happening in the Game and he makes a bunch of WickeD comebacks.
Liquid`TLO: I would have TLO on the Team because the opponent can't Really pick anyone that is Super good against every single matchup. Since TLO plays random (and every race very solidly) the opponent's can't get the best person for the matchup. Also TLO has the renown reputation for doing these Super creative "cheese" builds that Just catch his opponents way off gaurd.
IdrA: IdrA would be a good addition to this Team Just because of his Super perseverance. He seems like the member of the Team who will Just continue to get better and better than everyone else because of his sheer will to play the Game and find out all the games little nooks and cranies.
Day[9] (Captain): Day[9] would be the perfect coach for this Team. Sean's absurd amount of knowledge of Starcraft doesn't exactly train him to be the best player in the Game, not by any Sense of the word. But this does mean that he will be able to share his information and analysis with these other Super strong solid progamers. Bolstering these spectacle of players would Just make this Team the best in the Game.

Idra - I love his play and how hes already at 150 supply by the time his opponent is just reaching 100 supply, plus he kinda looks like my sister's boyfriend.
Sen - He is a ridiculous zerg from what i saw in the Europe vs Asia showmatch. He is a korean in a taiwanese body.
Tester (Captain) - He is extremely elite. Best protoss out there. He also is the captain of his own team so he has experience
White-Ra - Alot of experience. He wins everything in the western scene.
TLO - I think Maka is overrated, and qxc, cauthonluck, and jinro aren't that high caliber atm. TLO is awesome so he is here.
|
Let's do it:
- Tester (P) - Very comfortable with standard games and reactionary play. Extremely strong protoss, arguably the best P in the world. Former progamer, so practice habits are probably very impressive.
- Dimaga (Z) - Great player all around. Shows he can work magic under pressure, and I have a feeling he's just waiting for release to stomp everyone into the ground. The maker of the baneling bust is just waiting to show his latest and greatest build at release.
- Maka (T) - Ridiculous terran. I believe that Terran has the highest skill cap in sc2, and this guy is trying to get there asap. Get wrecked.
- Sen (Z) - Great consistent zerg. Makes builds work against hard counters, excellent crisis management, solid macro.
- White-Ra (Captain - P) - Are you kidding me? This guy is an absolute legend, and he's building his legacy (of the void) in starcraft 2. Very very impressive player, very good decision making. Another player that I think is just starting to warm up. Aside from that, he's a great organizer and supporter of sc events in europe, and with his experience he can lead an esports team into success worthy of his reputation.
|
- White-Ra (P) (Captain) The guy is the most wisest of them all. If you ever feel down this person would know what type of advice to give since he might have experience everything that is need to be experience in life. This would have been a close call between Day[9] and White-Ra but I choose White Ra since he won a lot of tournaments.
- Nony (P) - well what can I say? he is the best of the best in the foreign scene, if he didn't sacrifice his pro gaming career in Korea I think he would possibly be an A - Class player in the OSL, MSLs.
- IdrA (Z) - currently the best player when it comes to mechanics, you can't out play him straight up. You have to go for some cheese/gimmicky or a very creative BO that would counter his. I'd like him to be a little more creative with his game.
- Strelok (T) - This guy is so underrated but a very scary competitor, been looking at his games in Youtube and he has the necessary creative BO's for terran. I'd expect much more from this person.
- Sen (Z) Of course, who wouldn't like a player such as sen. Almost undefeated in every tournament his like 80 percent win rate yes? You'd always like to have the best player in roster
|
Tester - Arguably the best reactionary Toss out there. No matter what the opponent throw at this kid, he always seems to have the perfect mixture of units to deal with them. Kind of hard to beat someone when nothing you throw at him works.
White-Ra (Captain)- Of all the toss player out there, White-Ra seems to be the one most comfortable with taking think to late game. However, his tendency to mixed in cheese and timing attack mixed in with standard play makes it hard for player to predict what he is doing and thus making him all that more dangerous. Being the oldest out of all my 5 players and oh so lovable. Whilte-Ra would make the best captain cause it is so hard for anyone to hate the dude when he whipping the rest of the team into shape.
Nony - I know this is mostly fanboy talking, but I truly believed that Nony would be the best SC2 player right now if it wasn't for him putting schooling a higher priority (as he should). Furthermore, Nony seems to understand the timing window better than anyone else almost always attack at the worst possible time for his enemy.
Idra - Being a dedicated SC2 progamer for CJ and practically being paid to do nothing but practice and getting better and better in SC2, it would be pretty silly for anyone not to put him in their team. Overall, Idra have the best combination of both macro and micro right now, it would be pretty stupid for anyone to try and fight in a straight up battle.
Machine - Although machine haven't achieve much in to put him on the same level as the first 4. What attract me to machine is his absolutely superb macro. Hell, I might even go as far as to say his macro might be even better than Idra. All Machine need to do to make him be a force to be reckon with is to be more change his gameplay a bit to be less predictable and more refined micro.
|
Tester - P - Captain Personally haven't seen much of this guy but from what I HAVE seen, he's an extremely strong player, excellent gameplay and knows his stuff. Had read he was a progamer/coach also so gave him the position of being captain. Maka - T Also haven't seen much of Maka compared to the others but as soon as I watched him play I thought he is the best terran I've seen. Nony - P One of my favourite players, enjoy watching him play, showed that my favourite unit (phoenix) are viable and overall a very strong player. Sen - Z My favourite zerg player, seems to handle panic situations in a calm manner and overcomes it easily, then proceeding to roll over his opponent. Dimaga - Z Also a strong zerg player with great macro and a fun playing style to watch.

The Dream Team:
(In No Particular Order)
Zerg Players: (Z) IdrA: Fairly predictable but an extremely hard worker with excellent fundamental and absolutely pristine play.*
(Z) Machine: great up and coming Zerg player with lots of creativity. Was very successful in BroodWar and is simply a Nice guy. (I really respect all the EG guys for their hard work, massive skills, and great attitudes!)
(Z) Sen: Very creative Zerg player who has shown himself to be the one who maybe understands his match-ups better than just about anyone else in beta thus far.*
(Z) Jaedong: Best BroodWar Zerg in the world right now... Nuff said. His muta micro truly is a sight to behold.
(Z) Effort: He is probably the second best Zerg in BroodWar at the moment and is the only player to ever win over Flash in a way that impresses me.
Protoss Players: (P) TeSteR: Simply an excellent Korean protoss player with great mechanics and fundamentals. He has mastered the basic Protoss strategies so far and has had some pretty big successes like winning Gosucoaching #2.
(P) WhiteRa: Creative player who knows how to cheese well and does frequently. Solid mechanics and has LOTS of experience from BroodWar.*
(P) iNcontroL: great man with an excellent attitude and a passion for teaching others. He is truly creative player with some of the best mechanics and fundamentals in the beta. If there's anyone in the beta whom I respect, its iNcontroL.
Terran Players: (T) Flash: He will be THE bonjwa to end all. Terran was truly the master race in BroodWar and I think it is still the best in StarCraft II. He is the master, plain and simple.
(T) LzGamer: Amazing Terran player with some serious balls. This man is powerful in StarCraft II and he's not afraid to be creative. Also one of the nicest guys around!
Random Players: (R) TheLittleOne: Incredible creativity and probably the best player in beta we know of right now...*
(R) TheBigOne: Brother of and is a great BroodWar player. Brothers unite!
(R) Tasteless: Starcraft II commentator in Korea (Fingers crossed that he'll commentate StarCarft II for GomTV) and brother of Day[9]. Brothers unite! (Again lol) great player in his right who has an uncanny ability to out meta-game his opponents.
(Captain) (R) Day[9]: Amazing teacher with more passion and heart for the future of StarCraft than anyone. Also, he's the guru of knowledge. We affectionately call this man of many talents Dr. Plott. A powerful player in his own right, who better to lead the dream team!?
*- Denotes the top 4 beta players currently in the world.
That's the dream team folks!
