This being a beta test, It's kind of obvious, but since there is so much debate about this going on (much of which is totally justified), I thought it makes sense to post this Blizzard statement here:
Also, please note, that this is a beta test. Sometimes our developpers disable parts of the game, to get players to make extensive use of another part of the game. In this case, it is important that Real ID and the Facebook integration is tested thoroughly. This does not mean it will be the only option at release.

(Btw I would also keep this in mind when thinking about balance changes. They might be only temporary to get people to use certain units and strategies for testing purposes. The apparent bogus reasons they give for some changes seem to point in this direction.)

This system of friends is too dumb for them to use while live, its annoying but I didnt expect it to be there when live.

It isn't for you, it is for the non geeks who don't talk much about their gaming. Imagine asking a friend of yours just out of the blue "Do you play starcraft?", with the facebook thing you automatically find all of your friends who use facebook and plays.
And seriously, I bet that everyone will have many friends on facebook who will play starcraft 2 that they didn't know about. When starcraft was new it was easy to find people who played it, but as it got older fewer and fewer played it. It will be the same thing with starcraft 2.
What they are doing is basically trying to make it as easy as possible for new players to get into the multiplayer part.

What's your point exactly? An optional service is only useful for those who use it!
Sure you might not use it, but why is it such a big deal that the service exists and that other people might like it.
Here's an example from the War3 Bnet, they introduced clan systems but I never made use of them. A lot of people did use the clan service but I can say that for a hell of a lot of other people they never touched it. Should I post about how the clan system is only convenient to the people who use it? What would the point be in doing so?

So in order to make the facebook friend integration feature work they are assuming a person would use the same email for their facebook login as their battle.net login? I mean how else do they find out your friend is in beta?
I haven't tried it yet for the sake of my own privacy.

Ooooor, they could just link your account to that facebook profile when you enter the details required... There no need to have the same email.

I would have thought this was EXTREMELY OBVIOUS, but I guess with Blizzard people get super-paranoid and don't trust them to do anything right, even though they pretty much always do. You guys act like an insecure girl whose obsessed with a guy and keeps making his life shit because you can't relax or enjoy anything

What’s a World of Warcraft friend or StarCraft II friend?
A World of Warcraft friend is any player you add to your friends list by World of Warcraft character name; this works just like adding friends works in World of Warcraft now. You will be able to add StarCraft II character names to your StarCraft II friends list in a similar fashion. If you add a character name to your friends list and are not Real ID friends with the player, you will not see the player’s real name in the game, nor will they see yours. Character-level friends such as these are specific to each game (i.e. World of Warcraft character friends cannot see each other in StarCraft II or communicate cross-game) and can see online and offline status information only, not Rich Presence details or Broadcast messages. Other characters that a World of Warcraft friend creates will not automatically be added to your friends list.

You can create multiple accounts with the same ID in patch 13. This means you can't have a feature like "add ID" because there can be several accounts with the same ID...

Why doesn't Blizzard make it clear they are mixing and matching components for testing instead of leaving us to guess as to the final product? Would be so much easier to just have a disclaimer. Did I miss it?
