Yeah he was bad tonight. But i guess that is expected when you miss half the season with an injury.
I kinda feel like the reason the Celtics got rid of him so fast was their belief that the hip was going to be an ongoing issue and the dude's only 5'7 and a heavy defensive liability.
Is it correct to assume that the JimmiC vs. Ace bet is off?
EDIT: I think after much back and forth, it is safe to assume that, as a result of the non-realization of the JimmiC vs. Ace debate on whether Wiggins is below average or average/above average, we cannot have any objective metrics to assess Wiggins value relative to the average NBA player, and, therefore, all post that makes a conclusion about Wiggins as either is ignorant and wrong.
Although I think JimmiC is still up for it, any takers for Ace's place? Any other Wiggins truther? JJ?

it is possible to judge players. a combination of metrics and direct observations can do this.
most metrics point to Wiggins being an improving, slightly below average starting small forward. as i've stated earlier he'll be average by the end of this year or early next year. i'll be surprised if Wiggins is still below average by the end of next year. someone cited VORP .. and its -0.1 .... ironically Wiggins RPM is identical to that.. its -0.1.
62% FT shooting is way below average.. that 32% 3P shooting is below average... 43% shooting is below average and 47.5% eFG is also below average... these #s are very similar to last year's #s. shooting is a part of any non-playmakers offense. And, Wiggins is not a primary ball carrier/distributor nor does he have the ability to be one. he is "ok" as an ad lib playmaker at SF compared to other SFs.
until the last few weeks/months Wiggins has never done enough outside of his below average shooting game to make up for this flaw. as a result, he has always been below average or worse.
from what i can tell, my position is that Wiggins is better than the guy who says he is "trash", However, my position is that Wiggins is worse than the guy who says he is "average to above average".
Since the first pre-season game of the year i've noted WIggins improved effort and better defense. Every Minnesota broadcasting crew member agrees with me. or maybe i agree with them? whatever. The metrics also agree. He went from -3.5 DRPM last year to -0.9 DRPM this year. and that -0.9 DRPM keeps improving. the metrics have correctly captured Wiggins continued improvements.
i think both VORP and RPM have Wiggins pretty much nailed... a slightly below average starting SF. last i checked RPM had him as the 16th best starting SF. slightly below average.
EDIT: and RPM was just updated and Wiggins defense metric improved again. its -0.87.
Plenty of metrics can give you objective criteria. WP is based on an average player per position and goes from there.
Just read up on the the 4 factors of basketball. Or just look at BBall reference and the Efg, rebounding, TO, and FTA/FGA stats. Set each to league average. From there you'll find out a lot of basic information about players.

Would is be a reasonable statement to say that there is always a best player in the league at any given season?
If so, it is KD for me, and has been so since last season.
But I'm not a math guy, so I wouldn't know how to properly qualify this other than the numbers that are readily available.
Fan just got ejected by security from the GSW vs MIL game because of something he said to Klay Thompson after he was fouled and fell down near the basket. I wonder if Thompson will mention what was said to him.

Is it just me or are there more player fan interaction now than before?
