Westbrook, George, and Anthony or inexplicably playing some of the worst basketball of their careers while new additions Patrick Patterson and Ray Felton vacillated between inconsistent and nonexistent. Any visions of a Western Conference battle against the mighty Warriors were fading fast, coach Billy Donovan’s seat was warming up, and the talking heads dismissal any “time to panic?” questions started to feel a bit like whistling past a graveyard.

Simmons, Bell, Tatum, Anunoby
Now if we examine rookies in a different way let's see what we get. Let's use "Points Added"//"Points Saved" metric.

The top 4 rookies are Simmons, Bell, Tatum, and Anunoby. Same 4 guys.
Bell only plays 11 minutes a game. Anunoby's minutes are slowly climbing. Tatum and Simmons are obvious because they are starters and play 25+ minutes a game.
Ball is at a state where his strong defense makes up for his weak offense. He has been slowly moving towards that diagonal line of "average" for several weeks now. In terms of Real Plus/Minus Ball ranks 19th best amongst starting point guards. So I think these doomsday scenarios about Ball being a bust are premature.
Boston has a rookie Center , Daniel Theis, that is holding his own.

Not the biggest Kobe fan but some of these plays are nasty. The back to back ones against the Magic and sixers around 8 mins probably my favorite.

Bjelica has been upgraded to questionable for Minnesota's game tonight. Minnesota isn't exactly lighting it up from 3 so Bjelica will be a big help if he can play. He has been out for 12 games now and during that time Minnie's bench has been super thin.

excellent ball movement by boston with 5 minutes left in a close game and a nice shot by Theis. Theis is a pretty smart player.
