Why can't there be a league of teams that won their national league? That wouldn't be too hard I think. And why would both Barca and Real have to play in this league, I think that a year or 2 without one of them would make it even more fun to watch when they finally do qualify again. The current system where we pretty much see the same teams always getting far is pretty boring as well imo. And yes, it would be boring for Germany to always see Bayern, but its still much better than the current situation where some countries don't even get to see their champion at all. And let's not forget that it will take a miracle for teams that are not from the big 3-4 leagues to ever still win the champions league. Instead of trying to fix that, UEFA seems to be going in the opposite direction and that's a shame imo.
probably because the majority of football viewers dont care about the team that won the, for example, the Ukrainian football league or the Russian football league. they know that those are not the places where the best teams play.
i mean the big leagues understand that as well, they know no one is really wanting to watch Legia, unless the opponent is RM. without a level playing field (money), it will always be the same teams going deep in CL simply because they will always have the best players available. and i dont know how u would fix that aspect other than maybe placing a hard cap on spending and trying to funnel more money to the smaller teams randomly.
and if that happened, all the big clubs will just pull out and form their own league, then no one will watch the CL and the smaller teams get fucked anyways.

Unfortunately, there isnt really much of a case for making the game more competitive in Europe, existing football fans will still watch regardless mean we complain about it but we still watch and to varying degree enjoy it, and as far as spreading the game is concerned and making it bigger, powerclubs are the ones that are most responsible for it, so the incentive to increase competition at the continental club tournament level are almost non existent for the people in charge.

If Leicester don't make it pass the groupstage I'll be shocked.

Bayern has a ridiculously scary Line-up these days.

kicker (german website) shows 4-3-3 or maybe 4-3-2-1

It's funny how the commentator is already desperately trying to name reasons why Bayern might actually lose a game or two this season.

Well at least Werder is definitely not playing in the same league. 6-0 already, 21-3 shots taken, 10 more minutes left.

Werder lost to Lotte, so they might actually be really bad this season.Let's wait a few weeks before declaring Bayern champions

They did that multiple times already, last one was the Treble season.

These changes do not even attempt to break the dominance of the biggest league. Not that I expected it would but still... Whilst that is true, the games they will be playing will be less high calibre teams. So you have more chance if you are a Leiga Warsaw etcetc teams that are worthy but fact Man City or 4th place team from Germany or something etc. I mean Gladbach and City the 4th place qualifiers from England and Germany and both these two teams won with aggregate scorelines of 6+ ! What you're saying makes no sense. They're fighting for less spots. If you have to play vs City you at least have a slight chance to kick them out. Now that's reduced to literally 0. There will be less small teams and thus more competition for the remaining spots. Stuff like this and the insane transfer prices is making me lose a lot of interest in football tbh.

Against Bremen its more like 2-1-2-5 or something.

I am with the guy that comments that he doesn't believe it. If this had been decided why isn't it all over the sports news. Are there any other sources for this news?
I also agree that Christmas and Boxing day football is a tradition. So if they do decide to have a winter break January is better. I have great memories of Exeter City smashing Sheffield Wednesday 5-1 on boxing day. God when was that 5-6 years ago now.
edit: January would be a bit bleak with no football. I'm not really in favour of a winter break at all to be honest.
edit 2: Gary Lineker on the Premier League show 'I have a bit of insider information that we might be getting a winter break soon' talking to Klopp. I believe everything Linekar says. He says he will present in his pants, he presents in his pants

Klopp is already favorit no1 in england in term of popularity/appeal? I thought mou and pep and maybe wenger are above him.

Klopp is quite likeable for the neutral spectator. I don't like Liverpool and I love him. Mou, Guardiola and Wenger have a lot of haters from other clubs.

Then UEFA announced it on Thursday during draw xD Same with this guy i assume. Makes sense though
