They were always going to do that. Both the tackle and Neuers reaction were both beyond idiotic.
Atletico will sell everything and they should.
And Clattenberg is buying in spades.
Bayern are sooo not used to playing this kind of team.
Also just heard Oblak has 40 clean sheets in 60 something games. Thats insane.

It's easy for me to say that but I felt like Bayern were trying get one more final pass when should have tried a shot on goal instead and vice versa.

Atletico certainly played well. Dunno if letting Muller and Ribery out earlier would've made some difference for bayern.

Atletico are so well organised they make great offensive teams like Bayern run out of ideas so freaking fast. Bayern looked so average towards the end going forward. Good game, to the Allianz we go

So sad Bayern didn't score. I'm starting to really hate this Atletico. Tonight they didn't do any dirty tackle, but the constant time wasting is getting really old. Maybe they need to win a CL to stop being considered an underdog (compared to Bayern/Barça/Real) and finally have some medias point out their anti-sportsmanship...

Oh dear if Simeone had opened with 11 pieces of furniture from his house they would show an incredibly organized and spirited defense. Athletico should erect a statue of him in front of their home stadium.

The only reason I will respect Atleti playing this way and not a Chelsea is they play this way because of the resources they have. If you have a team of Hazards, Oscars and Willians and you play like Atleti then you should be ashamed of yourself.
Simeone really only gets to buy maybe 1 flair player every couple of years, and he will also lose an Arda Turan or a Deigo Costa or a Falcao just as often.
He has a solid couple of stars in midfield and a solid couple of defenders. Everyone else is just a bunch of mid level jobbers with some ability. Thats where he greats credit as a coach and a man manager. Not so much as tactician because its not a hard plan to come up with but execution and chasing shit for 90 mins is hard as fuck even if it doesnt require a high level of technical ability. And thats fine.
They have no choice but to play that way against better opposition. What they are also good at is beating teams they should beat. They rarely blow la liga teams away but they do just enough to win because thats just really how good they are and they also know it so they play within their limitations
They arent a team that will knock 5 past a Rayo but they will win. The thing is this way of playing is like a 20 percent success rate against quality opposition on a consistent basis. Sure you can peak at the right time and get streaky but again for a club like Atleti thats fine. They've won a league and made a CL final (nearly won it.).
Its boring as fuck to watch for me personally but you have to appreciate it regardless.

If it was a 2nd division team playing Barça in the final of Copa and winning 1-0 I would agree. But Atletico lost their underdog status a long time ago.
Even the part about lacking resources I kind of disagree. Their roster is the same level as City's, if not better.

imo this issue is tackled pretty simple:
if a team wastes time that obviously just add 6 or 7 minutes instead of just 3 or 4..
but the refs need the back up they cant act on their own..

The roster on Paper is hardly the level of any top teams. Half those players individually dont hold much pedigree at all. They are your average run of the mill squad player on any top team.
As for the "low level" tactics. Im sorry but who doesnt do that ? Every team does that depending on the situation. Its nothing abnormal compared to anything the likes of Barca or Real do.
If you want to get rid of timewasting you need to punish it consistently across the board and people will stop doing it. Its kinda bullshit to criticize a team for being better at "time wasting" than other teams. Its like whining that you are cheating but the other guy was better at cheating so he cheated more. Fuck that. You are both cheating. No one gets to complain.
While we are on the subject, No one also gets to complain if one team gets penalized for it and the other doesnt. The general trend and how it should be managed is ofcourse a separate issue, but whining about specific games or instances is self serving and is basically just whining. Oh you got caught this time ? Boo fucking hoo ...
Atletico will always be an underdog against the top 3. Not as long as teams like Barca, Real and Bayern are as good as they are.

This game was a lot better than last night snorefest.

I didn't say they compared to Real/Barça/Bayern, but compared to City or PSG, I don't think they're really far. They don't have stars but they're all good players.
And no, there's no team in Europe that plays like this from the 15th minute (or whenever they achieve their goal for that particular match). I'm not saying that wasting time like this is stupid, but it's nothing that should be "respected". Add to that the violent part when they're in trouble...

Yeah well I didnt say I respect dirty tactics, I just meant the general defensive play. You can hate on the rest of it all you want but all teams do it and just because they do it more or better is a bit of a double standard. Cheating is cheating.
All top teams get snarky and violent when they are trouble, especially the ones that expect to win.
Also on paper City's team is pretty good. There is a reason they are criticized for underperforming. Same for PSG. But both those clubs have resources and just use them poorly so they dont really have an excuse.

Ah damnit The goal should've never happened. Just like against Juve, 4 players get completly braindead and let the attacker pass. How the fuck can that happen TWICE in one CL-KO round... First half was a desaster.
Iam kinda satisfied with the second half though, bad luck that we didn't get 1 goal at least. 1-1 wouldve been a fair result but well, I wasn't meant to be. Now it's going to be so hard...one mistake and we're out.
But the line-up of pep once again is a riddle to me. Vidal made his best matches as CDM, but Alonso is allowed to play there. And Müller didnt play until 70 minutes. Also the subs didn't make alot of sense to me. Coman was just starting to do a great game and he gets subbed instead of costa, who played horrible. Thiago was also playing bad and he shouldve been subbed for Müller way earlier...

Yeah don't forget this is the same way they played vs PSV and failed to score in 210 minutes of football vs them. PSV!
I don't care though, some people enjoy watching a well drilled defensive team, there is ways to beat them you just have to play a different tactic vs them or you have to play at 100% yourself and be drilled on defending counters.

1:0 is not an unexpected result. We all saw what happened to Barca. Ofc this is far from over and i expect a nailbiter 2nd leg.
Bayern was definitely suprised by Atletis tackles and in the first half you saw Lewa more than once looking to the Refs for a foul but none was given. 2nd half was on one goal (with the 1 exception from Torres) and Bayern should have scored. Sometimes you had to doubt Bayerns quality, with shots going wide and passes / crosses beeing really bad, but Alaba ...dayum what a shot. Leaving Muller and Ribery on the bench for so long was a mistake IMO. Muller just needs one ball in the box... just one. Didn't get that one.

Chanpions league would be entertaining with Everton, top goalscorers but only mid table
