And then the rationalization comes afterwards. Everything is like some overall keikaku mastermind planning.

Chelsea looked reasonable in attack versus Swansea but Ivanovic looked legitimately boiled in defense. Montero just massacred him and I expect it to be a common theme if Ivanovic continues to feature. I expect Mourinho to replace Ivanovic however, before the transfer window closes. Chelsea should still be strong and probably favorites to win the title. I also think Arsenal will still contend, despite a disastrous opener. They simply have a great team all around, though they are a bit then depth-wise with no proper cover for Coq and at CB. Obviously they can also upgrade at striker, and I believe Benzema would be perfect for them (don't expect RM to sell though). I think Arsenal will recover after this bad loss and compete this season, but as usual, it will depend on if their players can stay free of injury which has not been the case for a long while. United for me are the weakest of the top 4 and most likely to drop out. Despite getting a good result, they were very poor offensively in my book. And I don't see that changing. They have no true world class talent in attack, as all their rivals do. And it shows in their toothless possession. I think their midfield issues have been rectified, but they have no proper striker or any transcendent attacking players to help burden the load. Depay will probably be a nice addition for United in the long run, but he's not ready to play a starring role. I actually predict City to win this season. I don't think Chelsea will get another season with all their key players being as injury free as they were last season, and I don't think they will get out to such an early lead with City in particular keen to make a better start. On paper I think City also has the best squad. They will edge Chelsea, Arsenal will come 3rd, the new 4th, and United will bring up the rear in 4th, the new 1st.

The way NY City FC came into being basically played right into becoming a rivalry, there's always been this sort of tension between the "bridge and tunnel people" who live in the suburbs and commute/travel into the city, and the hipper true city dwellers (or city elitists the negative connotation of that). And with the Red Bulls playing out in New Jersey, being previously named the NY/NJ Metro Stars, and having had really one glamour player their entire time (Thierry Henry), and NY City FC which has "city" in its name, plays in Yankee Stadium, very famous and historical and right in the city, and immediately getting glamour players Villa, Lampard and Pirlo with big money behind them, and being the new trendy thing it's like this tension was designed to be played up.

If Yaya Toure is in good season that alone makes City in the title race. He really can set the tone for the team. City had far to many lackluster periods of play where they looked like they just didn't care last season.

I guess it's good that US football fans are passionate, but football doesn't need the trouble. Also I don't know how much this is about football anyway and how much it's just an excuse to fight. I find it a little ironic that NYRB would hate on NYCFC when they are backed by Red Bull, an utterly shameless and soulless company in the world of sports.

Otherwise ManCity would have good chances to get him.

NYRB doesn't seem much like how it sounds like it goes with Leipzig, I don't know how much negative has actually come from their involvement (I got the sense they were really struggling before RB came in). Also while their branding seems obnoxious, their uniforms, for example, actually look way better than just having Chevy's logo plastered across the front of something, and it doesn't seem that different than Etihad Stadium, Emirates Stadium, Qatar Foundation/Airways/whatever, etc. Also all that less-upfront stuff seems more sinister, combined with building from Middle Eastern and Russian billionaires, etc. Does anyone really think large amounts of this money are not seriously dirty if you go back to its deep sources? Or that taxpayers in Spain are not getting seriously abused by the financial wrongdoings of all the clubs there, or Real Madrid's sweet deals? I feel like people would prefer everything came from hidden atrocities--as long as they can't see them clearly--than from something a bit shameless in its display but essentially upfront. And I actually sort of like how they bring some money to less visible sports (Starcraft/esports included).
