Any updates on Bale saga yet? There seemed to be so much stir about it and now, for a moment, total silence, except that they finally got Soldado (heard that it was one of the conditions for letting GB go). I wonder whether Tottenham board wants to be immortalized in Guiness World Record Book as the board that rejected the biggest bid in the history of the game. | ||

You can take your pick as to which Sunday paper is the least full of it: -Cadena SER: Bale didn't leave his house all day Saturday, and has told Daniel Levy he won't leave unless it's to sign a contract with Real Madrid. No, seriously. -Daily Mail: Tottenham owner Joe Lewis is now getting personally involved with the Bale negotiations, and will demand no less than £100m. Perez better hope this one is false...I wouldn't want to be on the other end of a Levy-Lewis negotiation tag team. -Marca: Levy is "threatening" to force Bale to stay one more year. Also, Madrid want to make multiple payments for FFP reasons, with the first being no more than €25m. -Telegraph: Spurs are furious at Real's current offer and won't even return to the bargaining table unless it is improved significantly. The only concrete things to happen in the last two days were: -Bale did not travel to Monaco for the friendly. -AVB claimed in his press conference that the only communication between the clubs was Spurs telling Madrid that Bale is not for sale. -Soldado said he wants Bale to stay. BTW, random voice of a reason I recently saw on one of Polish sports forums (translated by me): The biggest enemy of Real Madrid isn't FC Barcelona, FC Barcelona fanbase or any other top European clubs. The biggest enemy of Real Madrid is Florentino Perez - moronic president who, in name of fulfilling his absurd promises to the fans, is willing to pay 100 millions for a player worth at most half of this price. How the team is supposed to ever succeed, when the only policy it's owners know is to assemble all-stars from all around the world instead of thinking in advance if player X or Y really fits with a gameplan the team has. I'm saying this mainly because Mourinho understood this issue and now that he's gone, the whole Real Harleem Globtrotters circus appears to start over again. | ||

I can understand Tottenham's reluctance a lot more now, because if it's say 100 million spread out over 4 years that's not something Tottenham can really use in their plans to strengthen their squad immediately. | ||

So the guy gets the exact same (actually slightly better) stats last year as Ronaldo got for his last year at Man U (playing for a superior team) and he is 'nowhere near'? The guy is prime time. Not that I don't agree that 100m is a joke. But he is seriously one of the best prospects around now and has the potential to be one of the best in the world. | ||
