On behalf of compLexity Gaming, we would like to officially welcome you to the SoundBlaster Tactic3D Tournament presented by Frys! We are very excited for this event, as it will allow North America's amateurs and professionals to come together to compete for $10,000 in cash and prizes. Below you can find more details about the event including the format, dates and prizing.
![[image loading]](http://www.complexitygaming.com/hatick/Resources/Misc/TacticHeaders/thetournament.jpg)
The Tactic3D Tournament will take place in three phases throughout the month of May, two open/amateur phases and one combined phase.
Preliminary Phase
The "Preliminary Phase" of the event will consist of an open 1,024 player tournament with 32 brackets of 32 players each. All rounds will be a best-of-3 single elimination. The top 4 from each bracket (128 total players) advance to the Qualifying Phase.
Qualifying Phase
The “Qualifying Phase” will consist of online best-of-three single elimination play among remaining 128 players who will be randomly placed into brackets. Play will continue until an amateur winner is determined. The top 32 players will advance to the “Tournament Phase” to take on the invited professional players.
Tournament Phase
The "Tournament Phase" will consist of the top 32 from the Qualifying Phase playing with 32 invited players. Brackets will be randomly seeded so that each invited player competes against a top 32 player from the Qualifying Phase in the first round. All early rounds will be best-of-3 single elimination. The Round of 8 will be best-of-5 single elimination. The remaining rounds will be played in a best-of-7 single elimination.

First time in my life I can say there is too much Starcraft to watch. Never thought I would have that problem lol!
Good to see another great tourney coming up!
soo awesome ^_^ looking forward to this
nice
im excited to play :D
goal is to get an easy group and make it to the qualifying phase :p
How do I sign up? I'm failing hard.
Question; are non-US citizens with American SC2 accounts eligible?
pretty cool. I'll try my luck at getting the easiest bracket in the history of sc2. :D
Really nice pro list overall
But yeah, so many tournaments coming up :O
Wow you could have just made a normal thread but you decided to buy a sponsored one. I love you guys. Will surely tune in to your tournament.
Yeah watch me lose in the first round WOOO
I registered for the site but how do I know if I'm registered for the tournament?
wow nice. I really like how this tournament is setup. Looking forward to seeing AskJoshy do some High Level Commentating.
nice. but its kinda complicated to register
Love the pro line up.
Slightly related: I've had this headset for a few weeks now and it's pretty good for how much it costs (37 euros here).
Signed up and ready for some action
I wish I worked for Fry's Electronics and not Geek Squad :p
I bet IdrA is pleased that there is ANOTHER tournament to try and win. Coming back from Korea was a smart move!
Looking forward to it.
Pro-Am is such a weird way to describe a starcraft tournament, many big tournaments are like this. ;d Oh well, glhf, I'll be playing
Sounds like a fun toruney, will definately be following this closer!
For anyone having issues registering or if you just have questions, etc, there is a Support button on the tourney website with info as to how to contact the admins.
If you're not having any luck with support, PM me here on TL and I will personally do my best to take care of you.
Thanks!

Is this the correct way to register?
1. Go to http://tactic3d.complexitygaming.com/event/tactic3d-tournament/join/ 2. Fill out Division, Conference, BattleNET Name, Contact Email, Website, Emblem 3. Click Create Team
Not sure what I'm supposed to pick for Conference, I just chose Western since I'm in the Western part of Canada.
Not sure if I'm just supposed to put my name in BattleNET Name, or my name.CHARACTERCODE
^_^ were do we sign up?!!?!?
is that for the tourney or just the site? i think i did that one allreay
So many awesome tournaments around, it's heaven for spectators. :-)
Signed up, i accidently made 2 accounts signed into the tournament both named iPBioOrMech t.t
Lol @ best picture of Wheat and worst picture of JP :p
this is going to be a sick sick tournament

"Seeking North American players Bronze to Masters!"
but the tournament mode says that you will be placed randomly...
so obviously the stronger players will be in the finals, why then look for bronze players? just for filling up the brackets?
I think I accidentally signed up for the tournament 3 times under the same account? The registration for this tournament makes no sense lol @_@
Registration is a bit confusing...

The Amateur Open part of the event is set up so 1,000 SC2 players from N.A. can have the chance to play in an event that could lead to prizes and matches vs. professional gamers. One complaint I've heard a lot over the years is that "unknown" players don't get a chance to break through to the professional ranks. This event is one of those chances.
Play for fun, play for prizes, play to advance your gaming career. Whatever works!

I love these big open tournaments. They are fun to play in for your average joes like me!
How did thisisjimmy get an invite over qxc? Seems like a lot of top players were left out of the invites.
ugh this is NOT COOL...
i work @ bestbuy, and now i have to walk into a god damn frys and buy something just because they sponsored a sc2 tourney.
*shakes fist*
Sounds like a lot of fun, I'll sign up for sure! ^^
Can't wait to participate in this!
Am I the only one that saw Pro-am and thought it'd be a 2v2 tourney where a bunch of Pros got saddled with a noob and had to compete through the tourney?
Ahh well, I can dream, can't I?
Glad to see another well organized and high prize tournament open up to public participation. Lots of great invites too, but only one liquid guy? All well, that makes room for others :D
Also, someone needs to shrink the picture of the headphones in the OP to fit the forum format.
LG.Response hwaiting!

big tournament there is no doubt about that.
I just feel they tend to focus too much on NA players and forget to invite european players.
Spaces and separators should be consistent in the player list, it just looks unprofessional currently.
Well, obviously they invite NA pros, if its a tournament for NA players with a sponsor from NA
Don't understand though why Mans tournament organisers try to make the system (sound) as complicated as possible. Why are the Prelim and Quali phases parted, although its the same players playing for the Top 32?^^ Longer description != better Ah and there is actually no more Info about the prizing in the text
Enough blabla.. Looks like another great tournament
Looks awesome! Great job putting this together.
ROOT fighting!!
So, are europeans with an NA account allowed to play in this?
On April 11 2011 13:19 thehitman wrote: big tournament there is no doubt about that.

That's because E-Sports in NA for RTS games is non-existent for the most part and they want people to get some fame and some prize money in hopes of making star players for the world leagues.
To all the people who keep asking can I use my NA account and well here is your answer.
1. Eligibility. The Tournament is open only to residents of any state of the United States of America, the District of Columbia and any Province of Canada (other than Quebec) that are 16 years of age or older as of May 1, 2011, and who properly register for the Tournament (each a "Player"). Each Player may be required to show proof of age and residence. IF YOU DO NOT SATISFY THESE REQUIREMENTS, YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO REGISTER AND/OR PARTICIPATE IN THE TOURNAMENT. Participation in the Tournament is also subject to compliance with the requirements specified below and in the Game Play Rules. Employees of Sponsors and their immediate families (parent, child, sibling and the spouses of each) are not eligible to register for the Tournament. The Tournament is void where prohibited by applicable law.
Signed up for some fun. Over 800 people signed up already, but it looks like more than half didn't include character code. People should read more.
I jut registered. Hope I can win it! My only comcern is that I might not be able to play in the one with the pros because the date of that one is the same day of my prom :/

I was thinking the same thing dont know why it says bronze to masters since no bronze will win it.
At 1st I thought it was some bronze players getting trained by the pros and the best bronze guy would win it. It would have been awesome
Wait.. Where do you sign up for this? I don't see a spot where you can sign up O.O
On April 11 2011 17:37 DarKFoRcE wrote: So, are europeans with an NA account allowed to play in this? Most likely not since they will not send the prizes to you if you win because you are not eligible to compete since you live outside of the US and Canada. The EG Masters Cup is the same, even though I have no idea why SjoW and White-Ra decided to compete in the last one.

Can people join each of the 32 open tournaments or do they only get 1 shot at it?
Going to be training hard for this!~

For those who didn't read the privacy policy, be aware this is in it...
"BY REGISTERING, YOU AGREE TO DOWNLOAD AND RUN THE SOFTWARE AND ALLOW IT TO SCAN YOUR COMPUTER'S GAMING ENVIRONMENT"
They must have some type of software to install that makes sure players are not using illegal macros or have a live stream feed open or something? Is that type of software used in all big tournaments?
Why are quebecers excluded? Just curious and from Quebec

To avoid the extra work, financial obligations, and also avoid any legal action by the Quebec government, many companies will simply exclude Quebec in its eligibility requirement clause in the contest rules. Found the above quote online which basically explains why Quebec is excluded from a lot of tournaments.

This is typical language in their Privacy Policy because an anti-cheat is used for FPS games like Counter-Strike. There is no anti-cheat used for SC2 because Blizzard and BNet handle all of that. You will not be required to download any software.

oh look.. another tournament i am not invited to.. sigh
Look on the bright side Jake! You can register in the open, bash newbs, get sweet prizes and still get seeded in the end!

pretty cool.. some unknowns will def. rise since this tourney is accepting anyone ;D More tourneys should be like this to give exposure to the aspiring pro gamers (:

The language quoted is from our other events that got overlooked in being taken out for this event. You WILL NOT be using the software for this tournament so you can ignore that.
A lot of people are still signed up without the correct information. Your team name must be your battle.net name.code (Ex. Blah.123). Please check your info to make sure you have this correct, if you don't you can fix it yourself. If you are having a problem fixing it contact support linked earlier in the thread!
Well mine is filled out properly but half the people entered do not have the proper information up and should be emailed now.
All I can say is, JP doesn't look like he knew he was having a picture taken.
Registered as #1018 out of 1024... glad I made it in!
Fuck yeah, compLexity. Sounds like a fun event
I am looking for to the challenge. Good luck to all who has entered, and thank you to the pros who have committed to this event!
The tourney is now full. The tourney now has 1024 registered participants. Some of those who applied didn't complete their form correctly so will see if there entries will be counted. Keep an eye out. Openings may still appear.
Wow wtfz that filled up ridiculously fast.

This is a brilliant idea! Thx for sharing! Wish it was for EU tho ofc ;P
Yey, glad to see AskJoshy out there finally. Knowledgeable caster with a fantastic casting voice.
???? He works for Complexity and does the showmatches for them, obviously he's going to cast this as well.
There are still spots for players to signup. Not everyone who has signed up is eligible to play, or may have incorrect information entered. If you aren't listed in the top 1024, or haven't signed up yet don't be discouraged you may still get a spot.
We are sending emails to players with problems in their registration, please check your spam folders over the next few days to make sure you don't miss any emails about this.

Hey, I'm loving my chances!!! I beat ONE of the pros in BO3 ^^
Definitely going to participate and hopefully give it my best!!! XD
Edit: Oh, I'm sure A LOT of people won't show up! It always happens!!!
How do you guys go about picking back-ups!?

Nice, but i still like more other brands for headsents, creative really shines at mp3 players and sounds cards... i hope they make something new, especially in sound cards, my X-Fi Titanium i starting to sound "normal" on me, need to feel the new jump in quality again :D

I'm surprised there are so little people signing up for this for such a huge price tournament.
And since everyone from noobs to pros are allowed, I would have been expecting to be jam packed.

It's full at 1024 players plus around 100 backups.. so I'd say it's pretty full

Want to remind players that their team name must have their character code. Players without a completed id will be removed. Emails have been sent to all players that do not have correct character codes and those player that have been deemed ineligible.
There is around 130 or so incomplete accounts registered. If you register now there may be a chance you may get in.
Seems like a nice tournament with a good distribution of the prize pool. I will try to catch some games in May.
