First question: most likely; second answer: new controllers are on Amazon for like $35-40 USD

I bought two official controllers for $63.90 total earlier this year from http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0017KIBAI/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1, although it looks like I got a crazy deal because the price has almost doubled since then In my experience it's definitely worth it to get "real" controllers though.

I've read people on smashboards saying raphnet is superior to mayflash adapters and I believe raphnet is canada based (not sure on this just that I think their website was based on canadian dollars). The brand new japanese white controller on amazon started out at like 25$ I think but last I saw them, they had hiked up to 64.99$ X_X I have one new one and one used on I bought on ebay for 19$ and while the control stick is sort've loose the, LR analogs work much better than the new white controllers and overall it wasn't too bad of a purchase. I think though, if you are trying to get those really meticulous joystick input tech skills like that haxdash stuff the new controller would be much better!

Im currently using the xbox 360 controller and as good as it is, it just isn't the same. I did some searching online and found this adapter: http://www.amazon.com/GC-Controller-Adapter-PC/dp/B0089NVTDM Anyone know if will work fine? Get the Raphnet adapter instead: http://www.raphnet-tech.com/products/gamecube_to_usb/ Raphnet is indeed based in Canada, so shipping should be cheaper for you. It's worth the extra money.
