I told her what I kind of wanted it to look like, she made this amazing piece in a couple hours with a corkboard and some leftover paint and snow flock. Here are my Canoptek Wraiths. I had a lot of fun on the conversion ones, and they're quite awesome on the tabletop. Night Scythes/Doom Scythes. Flyers used to be the bane of the game, now they're a bit more balanced. People still sigh in frustration if you put 3 of them down on the board, though. The bases were the first time I put anything other than paint and flock on something, even if it was really simple. These are my Lychguard with Hyperphase Swords and Dispersion Shields. I love these guys aesthetically, and in game they're quite effective. Bloody impossible to kill most of the time, which is why I love Necrons. Normally, they run side by side with Orikan the Diviner. I really like this model, one of my favorite special character sculpts. Just a crazy Cryptek with his staff, gives a sense of the millenia-old insanity. And last but not least in this update we have Varguard Obyron. Bodyguard to Nemesor Zahndrekh, who I showed off a bit in the last thread. Another awesome special character, cool sculpt with a simple, yet intimidating, pose. Really liked working on Obyron, think he turned out ok too. These look pretty good and you're pretty lucky to have a fiancée who's following you in with this stuff! W40K is so tempting to get into. Such a great universe and so lore-tastic. Yet such a terrible business model. *sigh* Wait till you start magnetising your dudes like the Destroyer chasis so you can swap loadouts and follow WYSIWYG. Meh, I've spent less on it than I thought I had. I think all around I've spent somewhere around $2.5k on everything, but my collection is also like 3x larger than you really need to play a game depending on the army. On another forum I visit, someone started doing a great "Building on a Budget" series of posts for building cheap yet effective armies. I think if you go into it knowing what you want and researching so you don't just buy whatever looks pretty, you can save a lot, and if you're good at kitbashing and conversions you can save even more. Luckily, Daemons and Necrons don't have a lot of options that warrant magnetization. Immortals, Praetorians, and Lychguard all have 2 different guns that they can choose from, but usually it's pretty clear which ones are better. Not like Space Marines where you can have all sorts of special weapons and close combat weapons per squad. Also, it's really nice that most of the Necron vehicles have weapons that sit nicely without gluing and don't require magnets to swap. The most complex one I might do would be to turn the Doomsday Ark into a Ghost Ark and vice versa, but I rarely use vehicles in this edition. I mean that kind of money is also like what some of the most expensive Legacy decks cost in MtG so that's not exactly a great defense lol. Compared to something like Warmachine, W40K has a much higher cost too.
Magnets are a fun-sy option haha. Destroyers and vehicles are probably the only thing in Necrons I can think of where it's proper legit letting you swap between regular and Heavy variants. It's more relevant for things like Battlesuit loadouts for Tau or vehicle sponson/customisation in SM/Imperial/etc.

Like I said, I've got way more than you actually need to play. I can field 2-3 Necron armies and a full Daemon/CSM army. If you just wanted to make something like a 1000-1500 point army to play at a store every week or so, I bet you could do it around $500 or so and still have a very solid army, especially if you're not looking to be in meta/tourney competitive/whatever. Cheaper, if you are fine snagging parts off eBay.

I think I'd really enjoy going to a tabletop convention with Requizen.
Soniv and Wave can come too.

Anyone wanna play friday night CSGO?

Playing Battlefield Beta. How long is this open for, just the weekend?

I've got for about 150€ of Necrons (at the time, almost 9 years ago, so probably more expensive than this now with their shitty business model ) and I could reach about 1k points, but Necrons had about 0 customisation apart from HQ back then (and 40 of the available 100 points are taken by the resurection orb so... ).
MB, "but he's into MtG" was my first thought when you talked about 40k's cost and GW's business model. :') And I'm not surprised at all that Neo loves Riddler Paladin. Would surely make for great discussions with Cheep if he played HS.
Here's the best announcer, although it's for HoN.

Yeah see that sounds good but I'm trash and wanted to play with other trash people in here like Chips and Geoff. I guess I could get my butthole decimated.

You can come if you're bad, we don't mind much.
Most people have a lot to learn anyway.

Why thank you. I enjoy doing the voices and Iris needs more memorable NPCs. I have a hard time making them so voice is just an easy way to take care of that in the short term.

Well being a DM is a pretty good excuse to to hone your the voice acting skills IMO. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Make sure you stream and highlight. If I can't catch it live I'd still love to see it.

I'll try, i think it's still kinda a tryout thing since this is the first time I've seen someone looking for a group/members that aren't already on A3S.
