Alternatively what Trainer are you aiming for? Well we looked at it and the cost of making the robe, tentacles, and head started to get out of control with just the little stuff. I also decided that I'd rather wear much comfier clothes, and that being stuck in a big cardboard or foam head wasn't as appealing as just regular wear. Maybe for another con, but the fun of the costume kinda wore off after I started thinking about what really was going to go into it. I sorta want to do Diamond from the manga, but Ruby has a cool hat.

That's a wild swing. That should go into GD but since I've already got that post might as well edit it: does it count as a loss if you dodge during your placement games? I didn't feel like dodging the 10th one, that'd have been anticlimactic, although I'd have avoided the Elo loss from the game itself (considering how champ select went the loss was a foregone conclusion).

Have you tried going cloth? wireframe head with yellow cloth stretched around it would be light-weight and lighter for comfort, tentacles could be sewn and stuffed with old newspaper.

That's a wild swing. You think you have wild swings? I'm in Silver 1 and I'll sometimes get high gold or low platinum lane opponents! I maintain that Silver division is truly a magical place. In an attempt to be Off-topic however, I think if I were ever to cos-play as someone I'd do Richter Belmont. I don't think it would be too hard to do and I think I could be comfortable doing it. Requizen I think you should cos-play as a Necron. It'd be really cool and I think you could do it. I've seen your painting abilities and they impress me!

Eh... it would be cheaper, but I don't think it would look nearly as good. And I don't want to get all the way to the end of something and dislike the product.

With some cheap plastic guides you could make it look nearly spherical, putting small rounded plastic a couple inches across curved to the curvature of the sphere, on the wires would guide the fabric into a more spherical shape (a rounded octagon or whatever), and would be super cheap since you could just remold some plastic into the shape you need pretty quickly. but yeah if you wanted a perfect sphere it'd be a pain to get either cost or effort unless you sacrificed comfort and went paper mache.

I sorta want to do Diamond from the manga, but Ruby has a cool hat. Have you tried going cloth? wireframe head with yellow cloth stretched around it would be light-weight and lighter for comfort, tentacles could be sewn and stuffed with old newspaper. Wireframe is hard to shape right though so it'll look lumpy in places and will look cheap overall. Moulding or sculpting out the right shape is much more precise and the final product looks better. Most importantly though, when you put it on your face isn't pressed against wire which might be uncomfortable. Especially if someone bumps into you and the wire smacks against your face. The other methods also mean you can create a hard but thin shell which gives a lot of room inside which you can use to handle ventilation isses, or add padding. Alternatively if you're really try hard you can add electronics like voice changer or glow effects behind the eyes. (This is getting into serious tryhard territory though.)
