For awhile we have coexisted, but ultimately after repeated attempts from management to get people to understand that the rules still apply people have decided that posting what is socially accepted by the majority of the human race as socially unacceptable they do it anyway. I'm starting to think this thread was a sweet idea at the time, but as the short year and a half we've had this thread that we have either out grown this thread or have forgotten what this threads purpose was for.
I don't want this thread closed. I do want the quality of the posts of some of our people to not be something akin to reddit or 4chan. And as of recently we've been pretty fucking close. I detect some slight bias in this post. There are one group of people who just want to use this thread as a sort of a gay bar (no offense to dinosaurs) to pick up a +1 to play whatever disgusting depraved game that they've been playing that week or discuss it. There is another group of enlightened post-modernist circle of friends making educated quips with satiric references to current events and in general use it for healthy social interaction unlike the degenerate basement dwellers in the previous group. I though I enabled my ad block hue j/k I don't use adblock I wish I was as disillusioned as you and your friends are. Do you mean deluded? Because I may be retarded but even still disillusioned doesn't seem to make sense in context. He means diluted because of your issues with concentration.

So in the interest of changing the topic, I uploaded the photos I turned in for my assignment yesterday. Note, the class is ONLY B&W photography, and the parameters of the assignment were somewhat restrictive. I chose flickr because why not. The images are a bit darker here than in photoshop, so I'm, not too happy but meh.
Which one do you guys think is the best one?

This issue keeps coming up. Just ignore posts your not interested in and instead write about something you care about or don't post at all. I don't read MTG, Teut or Dota posts because they don't really interest me.

I suppose its just better to say that I have an incredible disinterest in things that come from you teut. Most things you say have a childish and insulting tone that just makes this place less fun.

The watch shot is pretty. Did you buy the camera for the class?

I'm not very good at art in general so I don't think I'd be able to give you a good estimate of which is best. My opinion sucks.

I really like both of them for different reasons entirely. I guess I'd have to say the watch.

And yeah as far as doters or heroes go I'll get on TS hell when I'm ready and we'll see what's going on
Edit: LOL I dunno what my phone did to add hell in there but I think it's pretty appropriate

The water bottle one is probably the best because that's the only one with good contrast in lighting that uses the medium well and doesn't just have crazy crushed black for no reason (watch, cards, headset)
The power of doing digital BW comes from getting very clean contrast lines due to how digital looks (also because most film scans use high grain film scanned at low DPI), but for scenes without a lot of natural contrast it comes out really awkward in part due to how the bayer interpolation makes individual color luminosities different than the direct light reading you would get using pure silver grain.

When your only exisitance on the internet is to troll then yes I agree. Those years are well behind me now. At this point its just meaningless noise.

Which one do you guys think is the best one? https://www.flickr.com/photos/131419851@N06/with/16914591806/ I am of the firm belief that B and W photography depicts people better than object since objects lack emotions and do not really use the emotional tone well that black and white gives. This is unless they are objects that reflect a person.
I think the watch is the best one. I don't really see what is actually on the 2 and 3 picture. The playing cards have strange focus on the index finger rather than on the thumb. The blurring of the cards also reduce the black and white contrast.
The water one is boring? The picture lacks depth and focus (not in photography sense but in a visual sense). In general photography that I like uses a focal point which is enhanced with the rest of the picture.
It seems like you tried to bring that in to shoelace one but its strange to focus the middle one and it feels force since the photo lacks center.

There's a lot more of my hand (and indeed more highlights as well) in both the cards and watch shots in the files I have, I dunno why it's so much darker on flickr, but I see your point nonetheless. The differences between film and digital are a bit above my amateur level, hah. I still appreciate the insight however, as I'm interested in learning those sorts of things.

I think the Cards one looks the best, personally.
Could be a little less dark tho.
