I had a mage do the same thing to be when I queued up into him 3 times in a row. Turn 9 alex -> turn 10 thalnos frostbolt frostbolt icelance icelance. After the first game where he just used double fireball thalnos I thought I should prioritize healing(I was priest) but that doesn't matter as it's 18 combo burst. You basically have to pop iceblock in the early turns or die. Made me want to through my pc out the window.
Would rather face your Giants Mage deck, much more interactive (although your oppoents must have thought "WHAT IS THIS MADNESS, THIS IS BULLSHIT" when you have 2 twilight drakes and two giants in play, and 3 more drakes + 1 sea giant waiting in hand). That synergy though, even if you don't get to use Echo of Medivh on the giants you can still end up flooding the board with big stuff. And unstable portal confirmed OP, even when it gives a voodoo shaman that was exactly the card you needed to stay alive, down to a single HP.
I'm pretty sure EDM can be weaponised as Touhou music propaganda "See? At least it sounds better than EDM".
control decks are the best decks. Though I am a priest player generally so im biased.
there's absolutely nothing wrong with control decks. i play a ton of control priest and druid as well. it's just when you get rekt by stuff with no counterplay that's annoying (specifically alex combos - alexstrasza renders the first 8+ turns irrelevant)
also, priest is so good in GvG. shrinkmeister is ridiculous on top of the multiple already-ridiculous cards it has. cabal shadow priest? that card is RIDICULOUS it's a 3 for 1 as soon as you play it, you get a yeti and a 2-drop and automatically kill an opponent's 2-drop. what the hell, 6 mana for like 12 mana value? oh what's that? you played ysera and your opponent shrunk it and cabal'd it? nice infinite value on that 6 mana card...

If you MC alex then you pretty much setting yourself up to die next turn. You need to get yourself out of combo range so have to kill alex and heal up. Against Warrior it's fine since I think their biggest burst without a weapon equipped already is 12 damage but a mage at turn 10 can do up to 18 damage in one go. Honestly find druid burst the worst though. If you below 20 HP at turn 9/10 and you can't completely clear the board you basically dead each time. They can even use their burst to clear the board while still having it up to burst you down later.
I like control decks, find them a lot more fun to play than aggro since there's a lot more to think about. It's just a lot more expensive to run control decks so if you don't have pack luck it kind of sucks.
4-7-7 hand. Mulligan into blessing of wisdom, windfury harpy and ragnaros. Only get coghammer that's below for till turn 4 where I draw an alpha wolf. I then draw my 3 Hammers of Wrath in a row right after the Druid plays both faerie dragon and spectral knight. I draw the first of my two Guardians of Kings by dropping to 6 mana the very turn I would have needed it to survive and actually turn the scales (druid empty mostly empty).
Good thing half my draft is actually below 4. Yup, can't win them all, I know, but what's the point of having both low drops in profusion, a bunch of spells, and solid value late game if I combo not drawing anything low early, drawing my removal the turns he plays shit immune to it, and losing before I can play the value shit I drew?
That's not even GvG, that's just the last 3 weeks.

he's right you know. mages are the worst atrocity ever committed by man. i still refuse to play them. if i meet one, i concede before turn 1, because i'd rather get some horrible disease than sit through 10 minutes with a fucking mage.
