LoL/DotA/StarCraft all have pretty un-reachable pros. Fighting games are where I come from and indeed you get to know everybody really fast. But PC games mang. You need to devote your whole life to the game to ever get a shot at making it to the "high tables"
It might be because there's no person-to-person interaction and it's all online, and practically the only thing to do to sit at the high rollers table is to be good. I never really thought about SC2 because I didn't follow it.
I will say its a little easier in SC2 to contact the pros. but that may have been because when i played i entered a lot of tournaments and ran into them. in LoL its essentially be top of solo Q or be in LCS. because there is no other chance to even speak with them, and in solo Q they don't care what you have to say. at least in dota you can run into them stacking with bad friends or in minor tournaments. in SC2 back in the start of it, there were so many events you could easily run into the people in your server.
It would be a dream come true if Cockatrice felt remotely like playing in real life but it's understandable it's not close and you can't really replace the feeling of actual cards in your hand :D
