Not bad, but it's basically a more controlly version of Handlock. The fact Handlock is faster (and is more reliable card draw/life tap/giant droppper) probably means duplicate Giants mage isn't that great except against other control decks, where it's a better deck because mass giants and thus outpaces the hard removal. But right now the constructed meta is generally aggro and hunters (oh god the hunters), so...yeah no. Plus Doomsayers are not reliable board clear with everyone and their mother now carrying silences. It MIGHT get better with mad scientist, but then, by the end of Naxx everyone has the ultimate FUCK YOU mage card (total board self-silence), so I'm not holding my breath. Mage is gonna suck this season unfortunately. Now that priest is probably going to be a highly competitive class solely through Mass Dispel and Cabal coming back into favor (and Shockadin with Avenge+secrets is going to be silly), mage is going to be left far behind in Constructed. Freeze mage is fucked by Loatheb and eventual self-silence. Unfortunately, unless viable secrets decks are made, mage is dead last constructed, but that runs into the issue of FUCKING FLARES. | ||

Then again, it does well vs Priest (very well, actually), Control Warrior (I THINK, maybe it's just the perennial anti-mage matchup EDIT: Nope, nvm, Korkon too stronk), Mage itself, sorta Warlock, sorta Druid (I'm doing well against the hordes of Tokens, haven't seen a Ramp yet [EDIT: no, it actually does well against Ramp]), maybe Paladin. It's still fine to play Mage in Constructed, just not as you get above Rank 10 I think. MAYBE, we'll see once I get there and test it out. If priest becomes king like I suspect it will be next season (alongside Shaman), Mage may be a counterpick deck, as people aren't going to really pick the self-silence card unless they're playing Ancient Watchers or other major drawback cards. EDIT: Except for Paladin, un-equaling yourself is going to be so good for control. | ||
