You're not going to have a broke as fuck gang member going to the local gunsmith and being like "yo pops i need to pop some caps in some bitches." Gun laws don't really have any effect whatsoever on them, and only affect law abiding citizens.

That's not always true though. Like where I lived in NJ there never was much of any violent crime at all, but they ended up placing strict gun laws regardless simply because that's how most people from NJ think. My dad was friends with a large deal of old cops in the town so we mainly knew what happened. Mostly it was all just basic shoplifting (no gun involved) because we had like 7 malls.
Around where I live now the gun laws aren't strict but there isn't much violent crime either. Luckily the crazy face eating people of florida are south of me.

i understand that there are gangs of other races but I think it's very racist to assume that illegal gun trading takes place only in the black market
