15 is a bit of an exaggeration but the point is if you get a 50lb rice 50lb beans you can live very cheap
In Hungry Hungry Hippos there are no such constraints—one can constantly attempt to collect marbles with one’s hippo, limited only by one’s hippo-levering capabilities.

And die of scurvy. Which is exceedingly humiliating in a first world country.

I could usually ration off of 20$ a week when i worked at walmart, buying lunch/dinner there.
those 1$ 1lb burritos were godsends.

you could literally boil pine needles for free and avoid scurvy if you wanted.

or like $5 a month in supplements

not to mention how absurdly cheap it actually is to keep yourself alive if you ignore useless luxuries like mutliple meals per day or basic dietary needs
you could probably last a month on like 15 bucks if you ration correctly

How? I doubt you can survive that for a long period of time in a european country.

cheap shit

Give me a better calculation. Apparently i need ~2k calories a day. I could probably get that for 1€ if i put my mind to it by buying cheap rice or noodles. That is still double the amount of money proposed. This is completely ignoring the fact that i probably need stuff except calories to survive, some vitamins etc. I am pretty sure i'd die of scurvy rather quickly if i only eat rice.

And we completely ignoring energy and water costs, but i guess that is valid.

a month's worth of cheap brand rice is ~7 € if i was shopping in the cheap supermarket right around the corner. Could probably find cheaper if I tried but let's leave it at that.
let's say you have to buy the salt for it should be ~1€ or something similar

still leaving you with 7 more. I'd go for big cans of vegetables, peas and corn or shit. Or frozen ones. I'd have to look up what they cost exactly and im too lazy for that but just get, say, two kinds and as much as you can with three fiddy
ration it appropriately

since there's some vegetables you probably wouldn't even get scurvy!
not to mention it takes a longer time than a month to get scurvy
not to mention you don't need to eat every day

pretty sure you cant hope to actually survive in good shape on 15$ a month
literally no way possible.
you could ration it out but you'll look like an ethopian kid at the end of the month too

Well, i guess it's just me living in an expensive city, but i highly doubt i could get ~15 kg of rice for 7€ here in Munich. Maybe i'm just bad at shopping.

And i guess i was thinking about a long-term viable plan. Of course you could just NOT eat for a month, you'd probably survive that, and it's 0€!

costs me 15 US dollars for 20 murican pounds of rice at a discount market, thats enough rice for me to last almost a year. i can spend 20 dollars on a years worth of lentils as well and be perfectly fine from a meal perspective as long as i spend 10 dollars on greens a week. if i lived in a home and not an apartment i could grow the greens myself and cut costs a bit. it'd be a boring life of meals but i'd survive.

hm... if you grew your greens you could probably supplement your meals with a couple bucks a week of produce. and the 1 dollar/week cost of rice and lentils could put you in a fairly good shape nutritionally. you'd get awfully sick of it without any spices or herbs though. and i guess you non vegetarians would suffer from the lack of meat.

Alaric just lift weights seriously. You can lose fat lifting weights no problem. And keep eating

All I have to lift here is between 5 and 11 kg on a bar so small I can only take it in one arm. I already do that but I doubt it's the kind of weight-lifting you're thinking about (and 3x 15 per arm with 5kg is already tiring at the end, I'm weaaaak). It's summer time now but I plan on looking at gyms formulas once they start their new year (around september).

count your calories for a week. figure out how much your intake is and you should be able to find easy things to cut. even cutting a little and maintaining a sedentary lifestyle can make you lose weight, though obviously working out expedites things as well as makes you healthier overall.
