Because it would be awesome if it were true. Jeff's just a lonely Adepta Sororitas Seraphim. Why you slander jeff with your filthy xenos heresy? Rather be a lonely ass than take Shelkelp out for fajitas

Install windows first Then install ubuntu
The ubuntu installer is smart and will detect the windows partition, allow you to drag some sliders in gparted to determine how you want your hard drives set up for OS space vs general storage, and then when it installs GRUB it will automatically put windows in there.
If you install windows after ubuntu then it blows nuts and you have to do work

I'm just confused about what I'm actually trying to accomplish. Think of a hard drive like an apartment building, partitions are apartments. Formatting a partition wipes everything clean so a new tennant(OS) can move in easily or make it a storage room(games/videos/file dump). I haven't messed around with Linux too much, so I can't give you any practical instruction on how to do so.
If you can get Windows on without getting rid of Ubuntu, I'd suggest keeping it around. Even if you never use it again, it can be nice to have a backup if you accidentaly screw up windows but it isn't borked hard enough to merit a reformat.

Why is Jeff so mean to me. I come here, save us from the growing cancer that was ketara and he treats me like a piece of meat. You would like he'd like to shower me with gifts and rose pedals. I deserve to be treated with respect or else this duoQ relationship can't go on

That reminds me of something you said awhile ago Shelke. When I was reminiscing on our last Summer together, with the long walks on the beach at midnight, where you said you'd never leave?
"I used you like a piece of meat"
Idk Shelke but I think YOURE THE REAL CRIMINAL HERE

Well I think I fucked up my hard drive, can't even get Ubuntu to start up now. I tried to partition my drive but I messed it up and canceled it and now when I try to boot Ubuntu the loader says that "The disk drive for /tmp is not ready yet or not present. So I have no idea what that means but I messed something up. This whole PC is stressful. Stupid Windows just not installing causing me all these troubles.

HDD has physical damage, Replace. If you got it from newegg send it back and get a replacement.

I think because there isn't anything in GParted that would have completely stopped the drive from booting correctly. Unless you have a crappy version of windows install, or the drive they gave you was refurbished and you didn't know it or something like that.

Well I reinstalled Ubuntu and it's working fine now. Any kind of Linux software I could use to run a diagnostic on my hard drive?

I'm unfamiliar with ubuntu, but if there is a way to check fragmentation try it. Or atleast fill it up with things (just random images at this point, Anything that can be stored in multiple areas/folders/sections) and then just restart the computer and see what isn't corrupted when you reboot.
