I assume it's online and they probably just gave the showmatch players a couple hundred dollars each

For professional players, retired players, and gamers alike, this tournament feels more like a party. Such opportunities will become even rarer in the future. In fact, the organizers also invited players like Zest and Stats, who were eager to join but couldn’t due to schedule clashes with work. Dark, on the other hand, hasn’t completed his military service yet and is unable to travel abroad. All the participating players will arrive in Hangzhou several days in advance, allowing them to enjoy themselves in this beautiful city.

I would assume Oliveira is probably still better than Scarlett.

He was tremendously shite in the last few weeks of his career though, when he definetly already decided to just finish up the last few commitments and then retire.

Who would we have to contact to potentially broadcast in German?= :3

Scarlett haven’t been that active for the past year, but she looks pretty good recently in the wardi games

MMA THE FUCKING GOAT?!?!?!? THE TRIPLE CROWN WINNER? THE OWNER OF IMMVP?

honestly disappointed the format is so low on games, but still glad to have the tournament nonetheless

afaik we're getting the usual contingent of community streamers

I really like the all-star format... a better experience than the EWC attempt at a legends event. Smart matchups, deep stories.

The short weekend schedule comes down to both budget limit and regulations. Chinese authorities strictly enforce a 10 PM curfew for the venue. Additionally, SCBOY couldn't get enough budget from NetEase for a longer event, especially given the concern that they wouldn't fill a 5,000-seat arena on weekdays. However, enncouraged by the overwhelming demand (6,000 tickets for both days sold out in under a minute), they intend to talk with NetEase to hold more events of this scale next year. This is, however, contingent on the player pool remaining active, with EWC potentially removing StarCraft II from its lineup, there is a risk that players may retire or go inactive.

I haven't watched Starcraft in about a year! I hope marauder mine isn't the new meta lol

It works agaisnt LingbaneUltra style, but doesnt work against Hydra Lurker.

The stage looks wild, I wonder why they made it so wide open, makes it seem like the place is empty when Wardi's saying it sold out
|

|
What happened in herO - Serral? Wow.

The venue was built for the Hangzhou Asian Games' 5v5 titles (Dota 2/LoL), so it feels a bit empty for 1v1 Starcraft Game. And yes it was sold out, 3,000 tickets a day sold out in a minute, making tons of fans online complaining they missed out.

Also in game 1 herO legit dropped a forge at like 2:40 minutes to start upgrading his zealots.

This sounds like the stupid stuff i try in ladder games and fail hard.

(watching the replay)
amazing to see a tourno in a real arena after a very long time
Chinese crowd has amazing energy! forget how much more impact watching has when you can hear a live crowd reacting to, e.g. banelings detonating, hellions firing, etc. what makes SC2 the best spectator ESPORT is precisely its rhythm of lulls and exciting moments.

Interesting series from serral and hero
Literally a rare series where hero doesn’t get blink stalkers. Just 3 straight games of zealot immortal archon timing attack.
Shame Maru lost. I was hoping to finally see Clem’s pvt against Maru
They really need tossboss MC as one of the legends
|
I guess playing 3 tournaments a week (and almost always going very far) beats attending 0 tournaments in 3 months
|
Great job by both herO and Solar! I'm interested to see who wins between Clem and Reynor.
|
You shouldn't read too much into one Bo5, but Serral might to seriously have to reconsider his approach to this.
|
Just a reminder there's a YouTube stream.
|
herO might win the whole tournament off playing PvZ entirely.

Impossible, because herO himself doesnt know what build he would use before any game start.

Nice throw from herO so the finals go to game 7.
|
this is the most herO series ever. Ginormous blunders, constantly forgetting the Zealot in the wall and somehow still being competitive (maybe winning the series)
|
wouldn't be a hero finals with the ace match haha so many blunders though

This is one of the finals of all time.

what a game lol, absolute cinema (c)

this man needs to be studied. How is he doing it?
|
I am both amazed by how herO can play so well from behind and disgusted by how poor he play when ahead.

Game 7 was something else, +2 shield tempest ftw

The final day was pretty awesome to be fair, both the Reynor Clem series and the finals had some insane skill on display

what a nice bday present from herO to Korean elitists

This was a great tournament
All the pros seem to had fun and enjoyed themselves whether they won or lost.
Anyone know how much the legends got paid for their show matches?
|
Well done herO and Reynor!! Crazy back and forth finals.
|
Great run by herO and absolutely insane finals... I don't even know what to think about this guy anymore... throwing game winning fights with such regularity and still squeezing out a win in the end. Absolute badassery on display... GGs!!
