Damn, this is a great tourney prize concept.

Silver Knight PCs has been crazy generous to put these graphics cards and SSD’s up for grabs, so I really hope people turn out to support the event! Should be a fun format too.

Not that I'm complaining about prizes, they seem fair for a tournament this size and it's a cool idea, but how is this $5000 in top end hardware. The 2 ssds are $115 each at basically every retailer and the 3 GPUs combined retail for about $2000. Even using scalper prices $5000 is pushing it.

I mean, I don't consider shirts/money as "top-end hardware"
But even then call it $2300 in hardware, $700 in cash, that leaves $2000 for 4 plaques, 8 sweatshirts, and 16 t-shirts. Either those plaques are gold plated or they're name brand shirts.

If you can actually buy the 3080 model we’re giving away for less than $2,000 anywhere, please share your secrets here and on r/pcmasterrace.

Sure if you go to EVGA's website you can literally sign up to a queue and get the card for MSRP when there's stock, retailers also do periodic drops at resonable prices. For scalped prices which I literally address in my first comment, if you go to ebay, look at completed listing and sort by price there's plenty of completed listings below $2000.
Also, Steam's hardware survey has the 3080 at 0.81%, .01% lower than last gens 2080 so it's not people aren't getting 3080s in good numbers. In fact if you look at r/pcmasterrace there's pages of posts on the specific 3080 you're giving away including some who specifically thank EVGA for their queue system previously mentioned.

Alright, King. You win. We'll cancel the tournament and tell folks to join the queue.

C'mon. Be cool. Our sponsor is giving away tons of valuable free shit.

As I said before, the prizes are fair and it's a cool idea, I have no problem with the prize pool. My problem is how it was advertised. Imagine if ESL made some limited edition merch with an outragous price and included it in the prize of weekly cups. Then started advertising said cups as having $1000 in prizes, it misrepresents the size of the tournament and gives a false idea to the viewers of what's at stake.

I even think the prizes are on the generous size, compared to for example WardiTV We Sold Out #2 which had a $1000 prize pool while having more maps and days for the players. So I see no reason to fudge the numbers anyway, just be transparent with what you're offering.

Hey Data, so the prize pool does come out to about $5000 altogether when you count the value of the cards and all the other things included. These cards are not nearly as available as you may believe. We work directly with EVGA and in their own words along with other manufacturers such as ASUS "The prices of all cards are about to shoot up through the roof. The days of buying a 3080 for less than a $1000 is pretty much gone." I'm sure you are well versed in your knowledge of the current PC market to know that there is a massive silicon shortage right now which is causing the chiplets for GPU's and other computer products to not be made with the same speed and efficiency. This in turn makes the demand higher while the stock stays extremely low, causing the prices to start soaring. These manufacturers also haven't updated their MSRP's on their websites while they continue to sell us their GPU's well above the MSRP currently listed. We also have all the merch that we sell for a certain price in store which will continue to raise up the value of the entire prize pool as this merch at the end of the day does cost us a fair amount to make since they're higher quality prints and material. We source most of our stuff locally as well because we believe in supporting local businesses during these trying times and sometimes they charge a bit more than your average internet e-tailer. We try to remain as transparent as possible with our business and we greatly appreciate your concern in the way we decided the value of this tournament and hope that you participate in the stream for a chance to win a 3060Ti. Have a great day! - Austin (Marketing Director, Silver Knight PCs.)

The placement points spreadsheet has been updated. Any sleepers that you think can get above the line in tomorrow's final qualifier?
