We at BaseTradeTV are crazy, eccentric and dedicated folk, who would do anything to please our subscribers, thus this very unique tournament! The goal with this is not to find out the best player in Europe, but more the best player Europe itself has to offer! There was some backlash on our choice to exclude Koreans from the event, but we'd like to remind you all this is about a celebration of foreigners, and not about discrimination! Between the players involved & the way we handled invites, we were able to experiment with a very different format that was fun for us as organizers, and hopefully will be fun for you as viewers!

It is our sincere hope that this event goes well for you, the audience, as well as the players & anyone else involved. IF this can be a big success we'd love to try out for a NA one to complete the trifecta (as we already did a Korean one with The Big One) but let's not get too ahead of ourselves. Below you will find all the information relevant to the event, so please, enjoy!

Invited through qualifiers: (Z)Bly (Z)Starbuck (Z)PiG (P)Lilbow (T)MarineLorD (T)InZaNe Yunga (Russian Terran)

Invited by performance in qualifiers: (Z)TargA (P)MaNa (P)Welmu (T)uThermal

Invited because this tournament is about the best Europeans: (Z)Snute (P)Harstem (P)ToD (T)Dayshi

* (16th Player TBA as Nerchio did qualify, but due to a necessary date change he would not be able to compete in the finals. We sent him $50 since we are that confident he would have at least made it to the Ro8, and hope to see him again in future events! This will not affect the tournament's prize pool)

08/26 - (T)DeMusliM added as the 16th and final player
09/02 - (Z)Snute has to drop and is replaced by (Z)VortiX

Current Prize Pool: $4000 (Every $ after 3,000 will go towards 1st place reward only)

Nice. I hope either VortiX or Bunny is the 16th player as they are definitely in contention for the title of Best European. The fact that PiG is a participant is... interesting. Here's the liquipedia link if anyone is interested in the qualifiers: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Who's_The_Best_European

Pig's been living in Europe for the entirety of the summer, and because we didn't have super cereal ultra strict rules about anything other than, "no koreans" we let it slide. Besides, he qualified :-)

Also, I didn't know we already had a liquipedia article, I was just about to message someone about making one, so thank you for the link <3

Hoping for Bunny/Vortix (although they probably declined) or if they can't be there Kas/Happy as the 16th player. Also good job in paying Nerchio anyway, this is probably the best way to handle the date change.

No Bunny, Vortix, Grubby or even LiveZerg or Showtime? Hmmm weird. Would have liked to see the likes of them in this tournament.

Hope Dayshi or Snute wins this!!
I used to play random, but for you I play very specifically.

Bunny is unfortunately unavailable for the dates of the tournament & Grubby wanted to prioritize WCS pracitce (who can blame him? His group is so soon and so scary!)

No Sjaak? Oh... maybe there is some prior history with Axiom
But in all honesty Sjaak was tearing it up today on stream... won against Sacrsi (no1 EU) and had an overall win rate of 70+%. Also went 4-1 against MC.

Ro8:

(Z)PiG vs (P)Lilbow
(P)Welmu vs (Z)TargA
(T)DeMusliM vs (Z)VortiX
(P)MaNa vs (T)MarineLorD

Fixed now, brain damage after 12 + hours doing SC2 casting.

edit (again): Our tournament has done about a million things "different" and "wrong" depending on your point of view (No Koreans, allowing Pig in, doing invites after qualifiers, etc etc etc) that's the wonderful thing about who we are, we get to be a bit different. We actually have no rules regarding the Ro8 draw other than the fact we do it from a hat, to keep it fun! We try to keep it more or less "fair" by not allowing players to play against one another from the same group, but that's about it.

Was about to comment about Pig & TargA and VortiX & MarineLorD being on the same sides of the bracket despite being from the same groups, but apparently it was a more or less full random draw. That's cool too. I hope the players don't mind.

Go fi Welmu!
