Can't really see how anyone could call Tod faceless, and given his recent performances he most certainly is not bad either. Hoping for le Tod and MVP to go through!

for those of you who were watching WCS, in ATC starbuck just did an insane 7 minute hive ultra/ling into broodlord/infestor into swarm host static D build against MMA that would have worked if his army control weren't terrible and he hadn't lost like 50+ drones to MMA's banshees and blue flame hellions while attacking

It sucks how little we see of Mvp. Granted, you wouldn't want him playing too much given his condition, but it would be nice to see a few more matches from him.
The mental block is that you are playing against Mvp. I don't know many players that wouldn't be trembling a bit at playing him. San vs. Tod would be a pretty sick PvP though... I am divided.
Mvp fact. He was the first player to ever use the scv pull timing against Protoss. He used it against Parting in his semi-finals run of 2012 GSL where Parting said, "I will 3-0 Mvp. Well maybe 3-1, because it is Mvp."

He's just waiting for MVP's robotic wrists to run out of batteries.
As a Murican, it reminds me a lot of soccer. A lot of patient passing back and forth, waiting 90 minutes for just a couple of key openings
to a layperson, im sure that's the case!
I think that's one of the reasons why soccer isn't that popular in the US. I feel that Americans like to push forward, playing aggressive sports. Like American football, where you almost never intentionally run backwards, only forwards, and basketball, where there is constant scoring.
To Americans, the patience of soccer is often too slow and frustrating for viewers accustomed to US sports

soccer isn't fundamentally different from basketball or hockey, the difference is basketball has points scored constantly, which is easy for the viewer to understand, and hockey has a bunch of lame macho fighting

It's hilarious how aggressive hockey is compared to other sports. In hockey, full out fights are allowed, whereas in basketball, an errant elbow is a pretty serious foul.

I agree and disagree. Agree on the sports arent that diff but they are played out differently, which caters to a diff audience. Also the media plays a BIG part on sports hype. If espn, for example, put as much time into soccer as they did, say, college football, you'd have soccer gameday not college gameday.

I feel Americans have a national wide case of ADD, as you need a commercial every five minutes in a sports game or you'll lose focus

Cause in canada we fight and get over it in 5 min . In america thats a lawsuite .
if tod plays the same style here, i don't know if it will be as successful on a huge map without two different attack paths. it won't be as easy for him to walk his whole army back and forth, poking and scaring MVP while harassing his economy

Not a bad choice tbh, I as well. But just pointing out the diff . Also as a half murican.
i know tod is a huge turtle but does he ever all-in? like ever ever? blink or gateway or void ray or anything?
i think if he loses this and tries to do the same thing a third time he'll be annihilated. probably his best chance is to do something a little surprising

It's that socialism, trying to redistribute the SC2 passion.

they should point it out, create some drama and made up tension, whatever to make it more interesting

Thats it. Not really that many.
Terran BW progamers were not really popular. Design of Protoss and Zerg is more compelling. And pro-gamers were bored of Terran because it was the main race in WoL's campaign. Hence the lower number of top Terrans.

My friend promised to call an ambulance and rush to me with a first aid kit if the impossible happens
too bad I got work tmrw, but I will be cheering in spirit. We just can't have the unnamed terran alone holding up the mighty flag of the only true race in sc

plans changed after one of his two gas got destroyed, but definetely he had no clue when he counterharassed, proxied a base etc.

yes protoss OP that's why a 1 base gold float all in failed
This is a pretty common strategy on that map for Terran that actually wins, otherwise he wouldn't do it *facepalm*
it's an all in, and all ins failing is never a valid reason to complain about balance. also you shouldn't be balance whining either way. take your facepalm elsewhere
MVP series are always funny to me, before he plays everyone is sure he'll win and then after he loses everyone is like "yeah MVP is so bad now, not surprising"

What leagues have you been watching? Code S has 4 Terrans in Ro32, 2 of which are already knocked out and WSC Europe already has 40% of Terran knocked out of Ro32 (probably going to by 50% after today). Its an easy bet that Protoss will win TvP.

Balance isn't decided on a single match, its simply an observation of a pattern emerging over time. Someone in this thread noted this though: 1 base Protoss easy win vs 1 base GOLD minerals Terran.

It doesn't prove anything. His engagement right after was pretty poor, with his zealots getting stuck before getting mauled by archons. I don't think storm works in PvP either, but this game doesn't unequivocably demonstrate it.

I thought you meant "baguette". As in penis.
I know Sheth plays with his keyboard on his lap, but ToD may have run into more tournament issues if this is how he prefers to play.

Tod never chat in-game so he never gg. It's that simple. When he does chat, which seldom happens, that's when he usually says bm things. Just his way.
Regardless that was pretty terrible play from him. I don't understand why he did not focus fire on San's MSC. That's the point of this kind of build, rush him before and/or prevent photon overcharge.

This is not true at all. You sure need to see other cultures and what they consider rude or not versus what you think is.

What exactly did Sniper do that was evil?
1) His rise to power came at the same time as the Patchzerg era. 2) During his run of Code S he beat multiple fan favorites including: Seed, sOs, Polt, Parting, Leenock, Ryung, and Hyun. 3) On the last day of Slayers, he stopped Yugioh's all-kill. 4) On the same day he went on to all-kill as he beat down a soup, a dwarf, a card game, a color and made Eve cry. 5) After beating Ryung, Ryung typed out IMBA IMBA IMBA IMBA IMBA IMBA IMBA IMBA IMBA IMBA 6) During his interview he said Ryung just wasn't good enough and that he would have beaten him anyway. 7) He then went on to play in a Code B qualifier against JYP for the last spot. He won and after JYP left, JYP learned his grandmother died and no one told him because they wanted to support his progaming career. 8 Then Sniper lost in the first round anyway.
Mvp saw an opportunity and tried to get greedy, figuring uThermal's aggression would be delayed after his Vikings found that drop. That's why he went for a quicker 3rd. But uThermal wasn't done being aggressive, and when he found the 3rd, the snowball effect was practically irreversible.

does EU have the best foreigners, and NA have the best koreans (outside of KR) or something?
Kind of. In my opinion, EU has more foreigners able to take games off of korean players.
Also, there are more koreans in WCS NA. The delay KR->EU makes it harder to play qualifiers, challenger and ro32, thus it's less attractive of a region. But the top koreans in EU are as good as the top koreans of NA imo.

It's so annoying watching players one likes play with the KR->EU lag. I realize it's their choice and that we might not even get to watch for example Mvp in GSL, but still.
edit: Also, uThermal played great, well deserved victory.

Yup, exactly. If you want to play WCS EU, play from Europe or die trying. MVP killed by lags, good lesson. We can only hope he listen to the lesson and learns.

Been a while since European history, and the period leading up to the Napoleonic era was never my favorite, it was Napoleon followed by Napoleon III then however many republics the French decided they wanted. (A lot)

This is my favourite post about Sniper ever
The difference between Naniwa and Sniper is that Naniwa is at best a two-bit villian. Naniwa is BM, Naniwa is rude, angry, accusatory and can be negative against anyone in and outside of the game. But that's all he is.
Now Sniper, see Sniper has transcended petty things like out of game smack talk. He doesn't accuse people of being bad, being coin-flippy, being map hackers. Sniper just wins games in the most horrendously evil ways that cut deeper than anything Naniwa can ever do.
Sniper stopped the greatest all-kill of all time. He was the gravedigger of team Slayers. He made Eve cry, then made Ryung scream IMBA! He then made gave JYP the worst day of his life. It is an insult to Sniper's genius to even consider Naniwa in the same tier of evil as Sniper.

San mastered the lag better obviously. Or simply played better overall? In any case, one Korean down, one foreigner through. Who shall it be?

Or has better connection? Also it looked to me that MVP had some reactions fast as it seems like it lagged just from time to time. I do not care, he should have played from Europe. It is WCS EU overall.

Sure, you can be an amazing player, which life is, but when you're comparing to Mvp historically you look at the number of GSL wins.

Life should work on getting to some more finals instead of being mediocre in KR then.
ro4 is mediocre? God damn, Flash and sOs must be complete shit with one going to Code B and the other losing to Shine.
Life's GSL results over lets say, the last 5 seasons is consistently mediocre. He had a good run last season, but ever since that one flash of brilliance his KR results aren't that impressive. Neither is his PL record.
You should discount his PL record since IM don't really use him a lot considering how much better he is than the rest of there roster.
They need to play yonghwa. Double digit losses isn't enough
He needs to win an award for the worst map score in a pro league season

I think so as well. If he wins another game this season, he'll have broken even at 9-9. Combined with advancement from Code S Ro32 and his win in that weird Korean tournament no one really knew about, I'd say he won't repeat last season for a while.

ToD got so far behind in the early game but his mid game play to come back was so good, if his transition into Collosi had been just a little more aggressive I feel like he could have taken that game.

Yea that Oracle control doomed him. One of them was hitting the third CC for a while too.

I have had the same thought, but as far as he is concerned I don't really understand his name. Is he implying I am somehow related to the following:
1. of or relating to heat. another term for geothermal. (of a garment) made of a fabric that provides exceptional insulation to keep the body warm. "thermal underwear" noun noun: thermal; plural noun: thermals 1. an upward current of warm air, used by gliders, balloons, and birds to gain height. 2. a thermal garment, especially underwear.

You throw in something factually incorrect. What do you expect? ^^ (And yes, heavy is subject to interpretations, but there are limits... This is CLEARLY not a "heavy" amount of terrans).

Heavy in relation to another thing implies it is greater in amount than what it is compared to, so yea, it can't be heavy when it doesn't even amount to a 3rd of a 3 part group.
Also. people are laughing at you for saying silly things that don't make sense, not because you like TOD.

There are 32 spots in ro32. There are 3 races. That means that each race should have either 10 or 11 players.
WCS Eu has 13 protoss in ro32 - it is protoss heavy. WCS Eu has 10 terrans in ro32 - it has expected amount of terrans WCS Eu has 9 zergs in ro32 - the zerg are slightly underrepresented.
WCS Eu ro16 - at max 4 terrans can advance. Terran will be underrepresented in Ro16.

This summer, former champion Innovation teams up with fugitive Byun to overturn the Rain regime. They may not like each other, but if they want to survive they will have to work together to save Korea.

it's heavy compared to other regions and the overall meta, i stand by that 100% frankly if you disagree that's fine but i really don't care and i still think it's a hysterically funny thing to get upset about

Terran heavy = less than a third of Ro32? Math hard????????????????????
i'm not sure i see where in the definition of "heavy" there is a mathematical connotation, perhaps you could help me out
also i am laughing my god damn ass off that people are getting so mad about me rooting for tod just because i threw in "eu has a decent amount of terrans" as like ancillary reasoning, let it rain nerd tears
Heavy in relation to another thing implies it is greater in amount than what it is compared to, so yea, it can't be heavy when it doesn't even amount to a 3rd of a 3 part group.
Also. people are laughing at you for saying silly things that don't make sense, not because you like TOD.
psst... i was comparing it the amount of terrans in other regions

Since "best case" is 5 terrans in the ro16, and "worst case" 2 terrans, shouldne we all root for some terrans? Best case we might have even racial distribution
or on the other hand i could root for whomever i want for any reason
I root for people with uncommon vowel usage in their names.
I root for people who have a combination of these letters: NIVntoian
Nation Vino next GSL champion.
innovation nation vino avilo nation

I think its funny that the second some people get contra because some people have different opinions, they try to take the moral high ground by calling them" nerds" and "let the tears rain"
i would reply to this but i literally don't know what you mean by "get contra"

There are 32 spots in ro32. There are 3 races. That means that each race should have either 10 or 11 players.
WCS Eu has 13 protoss in ro32 - it is protoss heavy. WCS Eu has 10 terrans in ro32 - it has expected amount of terrans WCS Eu has 9 zergs in ro32 - the zerg are slightly underrepresented.
WCS Eu ro16 - at max 4 terrans can advance. Terran will be underrepresented in Ro16.
This is math. Not as hard as you might think.
You and all the other guys above did not take the same reference for heavy as Waise. So yes he is right on his own terms and you are just nitpicking about the wrong things.
Both glad and sad for Tod since him playing means no casting I guess.

I would say the way people generally act regarding Mvp is why I don't care for Mvp, especially when it takes this many times of being knocked out of not-WCS-KR by not-Koreans for there to finally be a substantial amount of people losing interest in him.

I don't think that will ever happen. The greats from the past never entirely lose their respect or fanbase, and people will always cheer for them. People will never completely lose interest in the likes of Boxer, Yellow, Reach, Nada, July, Nalra, Iloveoov, Bisu, Jaedong, Fantasy, Stork, and Jangbi even if they don't perform well. Mvp will forever be the best Wings of Liberty player, so people like him, Nestea, MC, MMA, DRG, MKP, Taeja & Life and even Fruitdealer will always have their fans.
It's a shame both Terrans fell to both Protoss, but ToD & San deserved it this time!
