I can't tell if people are joking, but I think that has been the perpetual curse for aLive: He just cannot generate community hype for some reason. It's not like he has no personality (though he is admittedly not an extremely outgoing character like MC), he's done very well in several premier tournaments, demonstrated good play in the past, and was even signed on to fucking EG. When a player manages to do that, they should have attracted more attention, but alas.
But for some reason, he's always in the background and overlooked. Which is why people missed him going to MVP, and assume he's teamless and about to retire (since they just saw Genius and TheSTC go).

Agreed. Even after Ian got a perfect engagement, and before he overextended, his supply was still lower. Check isn't doing anything fancy and is outmacroing Ian. Ian might be a more creative player, but Check is more solid. In roach mirrors, more efficient build orders are king. If Ian wants to win I think he should try to get a non-mirror situation, such as going for mutas.
