I don't think its about white as color. Its about being able to understand the language and culture - the character of the guy winning. Seeing Idra stream, commenting, playing music.. you get to appreciate the guy itself, not only his skill. Same goes for any other player that has character with no language barrier. Demulism, TLO etc.
Ofcourse you want the guy to win you sympathize for, that doesn't mean its about color. If Suppy would win tournaments and still commentate/stream etc I'd bet he would have a great following rooting for him, despite him looking asian.
But this is all my personal opinion, and my sympathy for players still acknowledges skill from the winning player.
