Yeah I think it would be really awkward to try to cast a game without using pronouns when the use of them is so ingrained into your regular casting style.

saying " they " doesn't work in a 1v1 starcraft match when attempting to refer to one person, it would sound extremely awkward.

They in a multiplayer game would confuse the crap out of viewers, especially in a mirror matchup.
Also, I really don't like when casters use terms or phrases like "the Protoss player, our blue protoss, etc.". It's kind of annoying. and not using pronouns would make this more of a go-to sentence filler.
