Is this coming from a native Korean speaker who is mostly immersed in Korean speaking culture? Or a person outside of Korea, mostly immersed in English speaking culture, who understands Korean? I'm curious because I don't understand Korean so I have no real context. My feeling is usually that I don't like it when cultures become "westernized".



A lot of Koreans were vehemently against using Korean names when SC2 came out because they said it sounded "cheesy." I guess if you could call it the effect of being "westernized," but I think it's just resistance to change like anything else.

I think it just made sense for BW because of the lack of Korean translation. I guess the population is probably small, but I was thinking that it would be a strange barrier for Koreans who weren't very aware of BW, but want to get into SC2, to be trying to understand references to units that they don't see when they play the game.

I mean that if you were a Korean who didn't really watch and play BW, but started playing SC2 and wanted to start watching it. Then trying to watch these games in Korean with reference to English names would make it somewhat difficult. However, like I mentioned, that population is probably really small.
Even during difficult times, when I sat down to play the game, there were times where it felt like god has descended down and played [for me].
