Expecting some heavy mech play from Mvp, people will most likely use and abuse the fact that Mvp is playing from Korea with high latency, against him. Hopefully Mvp has figured out really safe and solid builds to hold any possible weird all-in or micro intensive strat.

In-battle micro becomes nigh impossible and its just a huge distraction overall, making it difficult to focus on your game.
Proper planning and just getting used to the delay can make up for a lot though.

Unless in a defensive position, I think widow mines are much better versus ultras. Roaches is about the same.
It's just so hard to stay aggressive with tanks. It creates sort of a death ball, and makes drops weaken your main army extra much.

You really don't think either of those factors will affect his play? It's just a fact that Koreans are handicapped in these matches, now that's fine because they made that decision but you have to take it into account when judging a players performance. You can't treat a victory over Mvp here with as much prestige as it would hold at a LAN.

Please, don't make yourself look silly. Dimaga had way to little zerglings for helbats to be effective, so don't try to come up with false arguments why MVP lost. You can go helbats against Multa/ling/bane, infestor/ling or when you are thinking that zerg is going to remax on lings. Not against almost pure Ultra/Infestor.

Well, the caliber of Koreans residing in EU is not the sickest, but I do think that the strongest foreigners are better than the best of NA, who are getting stomped. I think they are close, but NA seems hard. Koreans will also struggle with lag if they aren't in EU.

HerO has won against many top EU players over the years, but he also lost to quite a few of them in this long time period and got 2-0ed last weekend by Kas as well. Let´s just agree that it is harder to reach ro16 in EU than in NA, winning the championship is probably harder in NA.

I dont think anyone has seen enough of him to say. His only recent Korea results are 2-0 vs MarineKing (which basically means nothing because he always beats him regardless of playing condition) and a 1-2 loss to BBoongBBoong.

I am not sure if you are trying to tell that wasn't an option for MVP, because LGIM have an arrangement with SK (MC is right now on EU you know) so that shouldn't have been a problem for MVP neither.

As saddened as I am, Mvp deserves this for staying in Korea. He might've had health problems keeping him from travelling, but honestly it was just a really poor decision and I am disappointed he actually decided to play this from Korea. I would expect him to be a bit smarter than Finale and Tails. Hopefully he can barely edge out the win here.

Maybe you have a very good connection or you don't play Terran then. I currently have about a 1 real second lag to KR. That's greater than the firerate of unstimmed marines. Good luck stutter stepping with that.

Still, had he traveld to Europe in time to adjust to the European time, I think his chances of advancing would be near 100%.
And with Rice living in Germany, chances are that he would be able to stay for free as well.

The maps are determined by map veto. Both players get to remove two maps each and whoever had to veto first also choses the first map.
In this case Mvp started and picked Newkirk as first map and Socke Neo Planet S as second. Whirlwind was the last remaining one.

Also, +3 armor is all well and good for the toss, but I don't think he had any weapons upgrades, and it's quite hard to kill bio with medivacs on gateway/immo/archon without weapon ups.

Dimaga as #1 is such an upset for me, and to think that Socke nearly made it out also...man. It was perhaps not the sexiest of games played but it sure was an interesting day.

Missed the games but Mvp is lucky he was able to pull out a win playing from KR here, I don't think it was worth the risk.
Now the rest of the tournament is offline so he should win or place very high, but he could have lost here.

Dimaga got so lucky Mvp was in korea. In both games Mvp was totally outplaying dimaga but sadly its hard to micro bio with that kind of ping. There were points in the game that mvp's units were just waiting.
Odds are Dimaga will end his run in Ro16.

I believe Polt was training full time for MLG, but has recently went semipro?

dimaga way have played well, but playing from Korea on EU latency vs decent players is Lol. it's just a huge disadvantage.

In the post game interview, MVP talks a bit about the lag.
He says that he played some practice games on the EU server and the lag wasn't too bad.
However, during the real matchups, there were an additional 10 players added - all the observer spots, which made the lag a lot worse and the game harder to control.
He says being in EU to play the matches like MC did was probably more worth it than he originally thought.
