You are right, he should have went into the main, to see that there was no queen followup. That and lack of zerg expansion (which he saw) should have given him enough info of some weirdo stuff being pulled off.

He lost the forge though and I don't think he rebuilt one, so he would've had to deal with it with just units. Either way, sending the probe into the main and seeing no gas or expo should've made the follow up obvious.

Ah that's a good point, I wrongly assumed it was safe in his base as that's what I normally do when I open forge to be in a good spot against such shenanigans.
