This isn't about a foreigner advancing to Code S this is about Stephano who has been crushing Koreans so long. Most of his haters has been praying to there gods who wouldn't make it. Unfortunately for them not even gods can stop the great Stephano

Is that why The Unstoppable Stephano got knocked out of the current Code S season?

That can happen for every GSL player. MVP,DRG,MC list goes on and on it really depends on the luck of the bracket

He lost to Innovation twice which is okay because Innovation is the best TvZ player in the world... but nonetheless he showed that he CAN compete because most of their games were close, he crushed another code S player (hack) and he crushed players that made it far in code A.
Which other foreigner would have accomplished that? They all would have gone 0-4 in the code S group and 0-3 in the Up&Downs

Naniwa? Jinro? They've accomplished more or at at the very least the same in the gsl...

Naniwa yeah, Jinro accomplished his run in a field that included IdrA and Jungle Basin.

also didn't naniva have like 80% pvps and the 20% left was keen and ensnare?

he was decent at that time but to make an example, some time ago Babyknight beat Polt and Rain in 1-2 weeks that's more impressive than anything Naniwa did in gsl

haha, no.
bracket luck is a huge part of gsl, mvp and mma got a lot of their championships dodging protosses. naniwa did well by dodging zerg, no difference

no.

logic doesn't work that way. luck plays a role for everyone that is true but the magnitude of that role is entirely different.

luck handed naniwa nothing but pvp and the weakest terrans in code s at that time like ryung who had atrocious tvp and virus who nobody know why was in code s anyways.

MVP in his 2 later gsls- in one had to beat parting, squirtle, ryung, puzzle, all very good vt

the other I remember had the hardest paths to finals including every code s champion.

quite obvious that this doesn't fall under the same category as a code s run where naniwa has to play vs virus and 2 pvps which was basically the only matchup at that time where foreigners were beating koreans regularly.

naniwa was lucky as hell.

naniwa beat creator puzzle and genius in pvp if i remember correctly - that's impressive even for the best koreans. virus had just recently beaten mc and nestea

look, you can argue bracket luck all you like, but results speak for themselves. are you going to discount parting's WCG/BWC run where he beat a total of one korean to win $125,000?

I don't understand why so many people are so hard on Stephano. It seems when something/someone becomes popular there is a whole bunch of people who feel the need insult and belittle said person/thing. Does it make people feel good about themselves to constantly throw criticism at him? I really can't fathom why people get so worked up about the guy.

Give the guy a break hes playing a highly competitive game in another country. Imagine all the stress outside of the game let alone the stress inside the game. For some reason though he gets torn apart way more than other players. When he wins its because the people he was playing were bad or terrible, when he loses it's see told ya hes bad blah blah blah.

Stephano live report threads are among the worst on TL, always the same arguments.

Well, the "problem" Stephano has is his attitude. When you constantly does nonsense like that you are bound to get people wanting you to drop down. Not to mention his fans are freaking insane, calling him the best zerg in the world or code S champion the whole freaking time. It just gets very annoying and people want him to stop winning cause then his fans would shut up for once.

Yeah I can understand the problems with his attitude but instead of people insulting his attitude they insult his gameplay.

Well I can see where the conflict comes from now, people don't like his personality so the break down his gameplay. It doesn't seem logical to me but I guess I understand why it spirals out of control. Still the fighting from both sides is really tiresome.

yes, i hold no grudge against stephano (in fact i generally will cheer for him against most koreans, save for my favourites) but his fans are most obnoxious

With Stephano making it back into Code S I hope that means he'll stay a little longer in Korea after IEM.

The problem is many people did not rate Stephano as he came on the scene later than their favourites. So certain loudmouths told everyone how Stephano was never going to be any good, and then when he made an impact at IPL3, these same people told everyone how he would soon 'be figured out' and disappear. There was a big thread about it but it stopped being updated when Stephano kept on going. But everytime he loses, these people emerge from their rocks to say I told you so. Obviously they have to make excuses when he wins and try and belittle his achievements. It is quite disappointing that some people have such an attitude when the community should be celebrating excellence and achievements in SC2.

Anyway congrats to MKP and Stephano for qualifying to Code S.
