flamingcow.tv is proud to present the community with the flamingcow.tv Open for StarCraft II Wings of Liberty. What could possibly be the last major online WoL tournament, flamingcow.tv has put up $1000 in cash prizing.
The tournament will be a full month of WoL action with 3 stages of competition. Starting with an Open Qualifier and finishing with 8 players battling for 4 payouts of cash, the flamingcow.tv Open may be the final destination for many top SC2 players.
Click here for Live updated bracket! Due to some last second cancellations, substitutions have been made in the bracket.

GROUPS HAVE BEEN CREATED! Groups were seeded based on a combination of Qualifier Bracket results, Race and Team Kill opportunities. If the Groups were seeded only by Qualifier Bracket results, there would have been team kills within the groups. Keep in mind that the results from the Qualifiers are a bit skewed in that not all of the matches after players had already qualified for the group stage were completed. Thank you all for the support!
GROUP STAGE RESULTS + Show Spoiler +
The Open Bracket will be open to any player level, but will be limited to the first 64 players that sign up and check in on Monday, February 18th. Following the completion of the Open Bracket, the top 12 finishers will advance to the Group Stage where they will be mixed in with 4 special invited players. Each group will consist of 4 players, seeded by race and Open Bracket finish and will play a GSL Style Group stage. From this stage, the top 2 finishers from each group will advance to the single elimination Finals Bracket where a champion will be decided.
Open Bracket - Monday February 18, 2013 - Finished!

Will be announcing the first wave of invites later tonight!
Some very solid players to be announced!
|
Currently at 72 signups. There is still time and room to register for this event. If the numbers continue to climb, we will raise the bracket size to 128.
There will also be a 'check in' required that will ensure that the bracket is populated by only those players that actually show up to play. Annoying as hell to show up and fight through a bunch of forfeits.
Will release some notable player names later today.

Signed up, let's do this .

It would be nice to know the games played per round especially for the first open round which is supposed to take place today. (bo1, bo3???)

Less than 4 hours to go till Open Bracket play, and players are still in the dark on Round format (bo1, bo3?????) Next time do a better job organizing an event please.
|
So when does this start and where do we check in?

DIRESTRAIT Should be a notable player!

Any chance we can see the bracket?
|
On February 19 2013 02:31 PhoenixVoid wrote: Any chance we can see the bracket? My mind is just boggled from this whole situation.
A) Sheth is supposed to be co-casting this event (apparently) and Sheth being a TL pro, one would think that this event would be featured on the Teamliquid sidebar (right above Live Streams) but for some odd reason it's not. Yes I know today is just open qualifiers, but still.
B) A lack of promotion on Reddit.
C) With just about 3 hours left till this supposed Open Qualifiers launch, still no bracket.
D) Still no concrete information on format of Open Qualifiers (boX?)
Oh well, I guess this is better than no tourney at all, but one can only hope for better organization next time.
|
What is flamingcow.tv? Is that the project you're working on ES_JohnClark?
Also, where's the prize money coming from? I don't see a sponsor.
|
Let me address a few of these issues.
A - That issue is being resolved.
B - There was promotion on Reddit and will be again. Reddit is a tricky and magical item to control. My experience says that posting any more then about an hour before the start will not gain traction.
D - The players that signed up have all received an email with specifics on the format, rules and how to check in and report scores.
C - There will not be a bracket until about 15 minutes prior to the start of the event. Obvious reason is that the CHECK IN process has not been completed. Once we confirm those players that will ACTUALLY play in the event (out of those that signed up - always about %15 drop rate)... we will seed the top 16 players and populate the brackets. Once the brackets have been populated, we will give out a link to the brackets.
I hope this helps. The tournament has been organized just fine.. you just may be used to signing up for an event.. having a bracket early and having to deal with a lot of forfeits. We wanted to avoid that and felt there was no reason to post all of the rules/settings/check in/score reporting information here.. would rather send out nice detailed email.
Let me know if you have received the email please!

flamingcow.tv is NOT my project. I am helping with the graphics and the organization of the event. You will be hearing a lot more about flamingcow.tv over the next few weeks, leading up to MLG Dallas.
There is NO sponsor. This event is being funded by flamingcow.tv.

I can confirm to receiving said e-mail (delivered 30 minutes ago) However is there a way to confirm our check-in? For example Playhem had it so you can see all registered players for said tournament and a green checkmark next to their name confirming that they have checked in.
Now I know you guys chose the Google Doc path instead, and I'm a complete noob when it comes to this format. Is there a link we can look at where it shows the updated full player list with check in confirmations or what not, or would that be against privacy settings (anyone being able to see player's e-mail contact)
Just my thoughts.
|
Yes... www.eSportsSolutions.com
Very beta right now.. just created a landing page. The project is surely being tweaked and is growing. Basically.. the project will be a way for industry folks to better connect to find jobs in esports, services provided by ES.. resources for those new to esports and those looking for more information.. so on.
Will see more progress very soon.
Thank you for the interest.

I can agree that this is NOT the idea way to handle the 'Check In' process. Flamingcow.tv is in it's 'Beta' stage at this point and most events like this would run their check in and other functions directly from the TL thread, but we felt that having a specific and direct way to check in was a better route and google docs provided us with an opportunity to do so without coding an entire bracket system with check in function.
It is very possible.. with continued success.. that you will see a complete bracket system.. (better then playhem!) soon..but as they are in beta.... functions will have to be performed with the resources available.
I will post the check in list and the brackets as we near the end of Check In period.
Thank you for the support and feel free to pm me any questions that you might have.
Thank you.

How can i sign in for this tournament?

On February 19 2013 04:08 DieStar wrote: How can i sign in for this tournament? Check your e-mail (the one used for signing up to this tourney)

I have an important question. If you read rule#7 states that you must use "the exact Map name used below..."
However when you check the list they provide for Map Pool, out of the seven maps they list only ONE actually exists by said name, Akilon Flats. So there's going to be a lot of confusion amongst participants as to which version of the map is to be played (mlg/gsl etc)

Hello all, this is FlamingCowTV here to clarify a couple of the things people have been asking.
1) We sent out an email to everyone who registered (all 94 of you) that included a link to check in. We know that other organizations have different check-in systems, and we know that ours needs some work! We wanted to get a event out to all of you, and didn't have enough time to implement our ideal check in system.
2) We're funding the prize pool ourselves. We <3 you guys!
3) The Open Bracket is not casted! You can certainly stream your own play, but please note rule #13 if you choose to do so.
4) Gwin will be going live on the FlamingCowTV stream (twitch.tv/flamingcowtv) to announce the four seeded players, and talk more about the event. That stream will go live at 4PM EST.
Any confusion or lack of information we apologize for, GL HF in the event everyone!

At this point, there is no other choice. Again, the flamingcowtv site has not been coded with a fully functional bracket system. We will have admins in the SC2 NA Channel - FCTV to help. If you are not able to post here for whatever reason.. message them and let them know the result and it will be updated on the brackets.

No sir.. all players that initially signed up were given very specific instructions on how to 'CHECK IN' so that the bracket would not be populated with 20 players that did not show up.
The tournament (see OP) is a multi stage event. This stage is just the qualifiers.. where 12 players will advance to the group stage. If you missed CHECK IN.. we even extended it for another 20 minutes and were able to add a few last second adds. If you missed it, I am sorry.

In the email that was sent this morning, we outlined how the final 4 players would be qualified for the Group Stage. Since 12 players are needed it means that the losers or round 2 (round of 16) will have a 2nd chance match to determine the final 4 players to be added. Below is the matches required. Each winner will be added as the final seeds in the Group Stage! Good Luck!

How did you guys do the seedings?
HyuN got 4th and he was seeded with QXC Trimaster and Fiery got 2nd and 3rd and are BOTH seeded in the SAME GROUP(?) with SortOf? How does that make sense? Schnieder won the whole thing and is gonna have the hardest group haha
e/ Also, Fiery is a Protoss and the tag is MYi
|
how about Group C for ya? This look better?
|
ShinyA.. you will need to ask the Tournament Director for clarification. However, I do know that the qualifiers bracket was only slightly taken into account considering that some players chose not to finish up the brackets because they had already qualified. The organizers also decided to create groups that were seeded by results as well as race, so it's very possible that that played a role. I will contact the organizers and ask that they make an official post in the thread. Please do not shoot the messenger
|
wheres my group
|
finally.. Group D for the kids!
|
I am doing the graphic at this very moment.. headed home for dinner with family.. but will update any of the graphical mistakes that were made. Thank you for letting me know.. I am going off of the information that I have. Thanks for the support and I will make sure that the Tournament Organizers jump on tonight to answer any questions.
|
Oh wow. Super excited to play in this! Thanks for running such a great tournament.
Does this run like GSL, where you can play the same person twice in your group? Or is it round robin format?
|
Maybe update the OP with all the extra information (i.e. mappool) and the groups^^ Would be a bit more easy to find all the information!
|
I will let the organizers comment on the Group Play schedule later today. As for adding the graphics to the OP.. certainly. I will get that updated today.
Thank you all for the support. Let me know if the graphics need updating.

Graphics have been updated and Group Stage information has been included in the OP.

|
So I kinda have class friday that ends at 7PM EST,and it'd be at least 30 minutes to get home. Is it possible my match could be moved?
|

Thank you all.

Just wanna say, I love the name "flaming cow", I just wish that it was an actual cow that was on fire, not just the tail. Of course it wouldn't be painfully on fire or anything like that, it would be cartoonish and cute. Hope you guys can make it happen! Lets have a *real* flaming cow!

Do you always refer to yourself in third person? Is that what makes you "the cool man"?

is there any way i can play last at 10 est instead of at 8est...i might not have time/be rushed if i play that early
|
fiery.. ill ask Garrett to contact those playing at 10 and see if they can switch. I can not see it being a huge issue..but I will confirm that with Garrett.

Hello guys, I'm russian streamer and official sc2tv.ru caster and I'd like to stream this event. Could you grant me this ability? Please reply in PM if you get interested .
|
Forgot to upload Group D..
Also.. matches for tonight start in 10 minutes!!
|
Due to some last minute cancelations, the brackets have been redone and players that were next in line have filled in the spots. For the stream today.. being casted live from a studio with Sheth.... they will be using challonge brackets to update and show on stream. (means that all of my work on those pretty brackets went for nothing.. ) -- all good though.. they hve good reason.. should be a great show tonight!
Here is link to brackets: http://challonge.com/FlamingCowTV1
