8 from Code S last season 12 from Code A 10 from the up and down matches 2 seeded players
If things stay the same. But didn't GOM say there were changes coming to both Code A and the Up and Downs? And the Up and Downs are considered part of next season so the changes would be in place then I'd imagine.
Yeah things could definitely change. However, there are already rumors floating around because apparently Scarlett said on her stream that she is receiving a GSL seed. She didnt say at what level, though (S, A, U&D)

I agree, especially seeding foreigners would be pretty bad. Seeding them into Code A maaaaybeee but Code S is just too high level and too hard to get to to fairly seed anyone.
At this current stage even a seed into Code A is a blessing consider how stack Code A is. Code A is basically KeSPA purgatory. Hell I think even if you seed Stephano into Code A ro48 he probably have a 1% chance of advancing.
Yep, no foreigner has ever qualified for Code A, and now it's way harder than it's ever been. Please Gom, no more seeds. Scarlett has no shot and would take the spot of a better player, why even bother?
Because at the end of the day, GOM is running a business. And the fact is, foreigner matches draw more interest. How many people are really going to not watch GSL just because they seeded a couple players. I am sure there will be complaints but they will still watch. But there will be people that subscribe just because there is a foreigner there. Even if he/she doesn't make it far, people still want to see how they do. Look how much attention Naniwa got for his 2 Ro8 runs. At the end of the day, 2 seeds doesn't affect the fact that GSL is still the premier tournament with the best players.
And all tournaments are like this. Why do you think MLG/IPL has separate qualifiers (besides the cross server issues). If MLG/IPL wants to be 'fair', all their qualifiers should be open to all. Then we would see situations where 90% of the qualifiers would be koreans. I don't think that would generate as much interest. Again, at the end of the day, you have the koreans/top foreigners placing Top 8 anyways so the big picture of having the best players win is not affected. However, you get story lines like Idra making a run which creates ratings.
