I don't understand that mentality, you'd rather see worse people play as long as they are from your region? You'd still have the same outcome in the finals they would just have an easier route there.

Having regional qualifiers which draw a certain amount of players or teams from each region for a tournament is a norm in modern day international competition. For example, UEFA champions league and FIFA world cup.

But you don't expect those local teams to get far. It's like saying Italy, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, France and Brazil should be banned from time to time of the football worldcup so we can watch other teams reaching the top.

The only real problem is how this tournaments don't offer coverage or allow for us to watch ANY match going on. For example many people wanted to see Polt, other Idra, etc etc... so you could really follow the storyline you want to if you really don't want to have a more streamlined experience (MLG was focused on Flash - Rain, even if they weren't the champions).

This.
I don't mind Koreans dominating tounaments because they are the best so they deserve to. But I also want to see foreigners play, and i am usually cheering for them.
I don't expect them to get to the finals, but please stream some of their games at least. It was pretty bad when they streamed the same game on both streams in the early stages, altough there were some other interesting matches going on.

Naniwa was really lucky. He beat 2 foreigners, then won against Flash but lost to him in the extended series the next match, then lost to the next Korean. Essentially he only really beat 2 foreigners, and placed 9th due to bracket luck and seeding.

Having to beat flash, then barely lose to him (when flash is a semi finalist for MLG), then, out of all the Koreans, he gets Rain, the OSL champion who is arguably the best player in the world. If anything, Naniwa got the unluckiest foreigner bracket of all.

And imo he didnt even look too bad vs Rain considering Rain beats anyone in PvP

You have that in WCS. MLG being an open tournament, it's pretty normal Koreans will enter it. For some of them, it's the best opportunity to win some actual money and get exposure (i.e. a chance to get picked up by a paying western team).

The other thing is, everyone is getting a chance to know these players more and more, so they have their own stories and keep things interesting. For example, most people will know who Leenock is and his playstyle by now, possibly better than for most NA players.

The core problem that people are missing when they falsely accuse foreigners of slacking off or whatever is that training conditions are just so different between Korea and NA/Europe. The latest (I think) episode of Pro Corner by ChanmanV with Cloud, TT1 and Major has a pretty interesting bit about this very issue. There is just very few very skilled foreigners and most are unwilling to "share" their knowledge through practice etc. The ladder is also a big problem - Major says in that show that he only plays on Korea now with 200ms ping because he got worse by playing on NA. Koreans at least get to play top barcodes on the ladder... doesn't really matter who it is if they're really good.

Really enjoyed the high level of play this tournament, and Flash was amazing. Just wish it hadn't been ZvZ finals, and there'd been fewer lag/framerate issues on the streams.

Their group doesn't play yet... They informed Gom that they are attending MLG so they adjust the schedule that their group plays after MLG. Rain did a last minute MLG sign up, that is why they couldn't accommodate Rain.

Nah it's Rain .

Which is why Leenock manhandled him 4-2 and Bomber 2-0'd him. Rain is good but has done nothing to signify he's up there with MVP, Life, Leenock (current most consistent players). Certainly a top 10 player in the world but that is about it.

rain is a pretty consistent player. he just had to play 1000 thousand games to get there, i really think it was all about stamina at the final mlg day

Even flash seemed to be suffering near the end - did not seem himself in the last 4 games versus life.

I agree - while the hype surrounding Rain has lowered, I believe a fully rested Rain would destroy Bomber most of the time, and would usually beat Leenock too.

Leenock and Rain played while fully rested (beginning of the day) and Leenock manhandled him. It was very one-sided. Leenock's style is a bit much for Rain who is very dependent on pre-Hive timings - while Leenock is one of the few zerg who feels comfortable playing and excelling pre-Hive tech. I don't think you can say fatigue was the issue for Rain in that match - in the Bomber match possibly. But I'm not sure why Rain is suddenly more vulnerable to fatigue than other players, not really a strong argument. And besides, these guys are used to playing all day every day - the only thing really taxing here is travel and on that they are all equal (they all travel, and travel is tiring).

So impressed to see ST_Life taking down MLG immediately after winning GSL. That kid has to be floating on cloud 9 right now. I can't wait to see him play in the next GSL to see if his reign of terror continues!

Lol he won 76k playing the game at age of 15. I'm sure he's in a better position comparing to an immature and insecure nerd with no job. In case it's too hard for your brain to understand, I was talking about you.
