Are you ladies and entitlements ready for more awesome Dreamhack action!

After WCS Europe, I really don't know how to call this! But I'm cheering for SaSe, SortOf, HerO and Grubby

Unless you have a specific player you are rooting for the first day of Dreamhack is usually skippable as upsets almost never happen, as would be expected when you have pros going up against amateurs and semi-pros.

Nice for local players to get a chance to play.
Just don't watch the first group stage.

At this point I'd say any other result than Taeja winning is an upset. Hero and/or Violet might be able to make something happen though.

EDIT : groupe are BO3 according to Liquipedia.

a lot of the players are relatively small-name, i'm sure the big matches in group stages will be cast!

On DreamHack site, you clearly see "Round 1 / Best of 1" (at least for the first groupe stage

i assume the brackets are incorrect? it's always been bo3, no reason to change

I'm sure it'll be BO3. Some groups are pretty strong, Spanish players like Alastor and Mikoel are pretty strong, together with two other decent to great pros, we'll see some good players go out in the first group stage.

Well, you can never rule anything out in SC2, but it seems highly unlikely to me.

Every group has two clear favorites and while there will be upsets (there are 64 players!) I'd say something like 28-30 of the 32 seeded player will make it out.

I agree with your picks for who'll move on... it's pretty clear who the 2 favorites for each round are

Looking forward to watching Dreamhack, as always!

Although this is sort of true. But it is still interesting in some groups where you have a clear number 1 and a clear number 2(some groups #1 and #2 are so close they are interchangable). With those groups, if you get the #2 upsetting the #1 and getting the first seed. You could get a potential group of Death in stage 2 since you will have 2 #1 plus another #1 that fell to number #2 do to upsets.

Oh cool, TLO's brother is participating too? In group N. Tough group for him though, dunno if he can pull that off.

Also don't forget that the two previous DreamHack had three group stages which was way too much. Two seems to be the perfect golden mean between the useless first group stages of Stockholm/Jönkoping and a too elitist competition with only 32 players. This format allows local players to play in a premier event and it's really cool. It has never happened in Spain for SC2 while the US players regularly participate in MLG through the open bracket.

Looking forward to hopefully a Taeja vs Stephano match.

I really think they should have four casters/two streams, I guess there isn't enough commentators in Europe anymore without TB/Bitterdam. We need some more players to retire and become awesome commentators!!
