 + Show Spoiler + Group A: 1st pick  DRG -->  Heart -- With DRG bouncing back in good TvZ form Heart definitely looks like the weakest player on paper. Although Heart did manage to defeat another zerg in Sniper in the first round, Sniper did not look particularly impressive. DRG has beaten Heart in the past but Heart could definitely be competitive. alternate pick: Polt+ Show Spoiler [later picks] + 8th pick Heart --> Life -- Life isn't a weak player by any means but he may be the "weakest" left at this point. I'd say Life's ZvT isn't took off from the level of MvPSniper. Heart can lower the amount of matchups he has to practice with this pick and Life can give DRG hell in the same time in ZvZ as a revenge pick if they meet up. alt pick  Rain9th pick Life --> Rain -- I like Life's ZvP and ZvZ over his ZvT. Rain is a very good player but Symbol is also a very scary prospect in the mirror matchup. I think it'll be one of those two. Could potentially see the MKP pick since his TvZ has been up and down recently and also to set up the DRG vs MKP factor. alt pick Symbol or MKPGroup B: 4th pick Squirtle --> Happy. weakest terran left. If Life was still on Zenex he would have picked him imo. He could after go after a protoss player with his strong PvP. Hero isn't necessarily known as a strong PvPer so he could be the backup pick. I'm also still not sold on Symbol's ZvP but he was able to beat Squirtle in the series that mattered last season in the ro16. Alternate pick HerO+ Show Spoiler [later picks] + 7th pick Happy --> HerO -- This is pretty tough to call but the Terrans left (MKP and TaeJa) are too scary in TvT. Happy was able to defeat both Genius and By.Rain in the ro32 so I think he'll take his chances against another protoss. Having more protoss in the group also makes it less matchups he has to practice. alt pick Rain10th pick HerO --> Symbol -- Hero would get kind of boned with this pick. He has recently said he is not too confident in the PvZ matchup, but his choices left for here are Marineking, TaeJa, and Symbol, none of which most people would want to face. Symbol is probably the weakest vP player left of the 3. He wont pick TaeJa obviously because of the Team Kill so it's between MKP and Symbol. alt pick MKPGroup C: 3rd pick Mvp --> Jyp -- Mvp would normally be looking for a T here I think but with the choices being Taeja (4-1 vs Mvp recently), MKP (80% TvT this year), Happy (teammate), and Polt (recently defeated Mvp in WCS), I see him looking elsewhere for a pick. Jyp seems to have come a long long way in his PvT, but Mvp should still definitely be favored in a head to head pick. Jyp's improved vT should still be the weakest possible matchup left at this point, and Mvp is known for getting pretty favorable groups. alternate pick: Life or Marineking for the fans+ Show Spoiler [later picks] + 6th pick Jyp --> Leenock -- Pretty sure Jyp will be looking for a Zerg here. The remaining terrans are all far too strong in the matchup and PvP too risky. Life just beat Jyp so he wont pick him. alt pick Symbol11th pick Leenock --> Marineking -- before recently I would never have said this. Although Leenock has always been a great ZvT player, Marineking was historically been the Terran who has had his number. However, the tide has begun to turn lately with Leenock winning the last few head to head meetings I believe. Taeja is the scariest player on the planet right now and he looks much better than Marineking in the matchup recently. alt TaejaGroup D: 2nd pick Seed --> Curious -- I think Seed will definitely be looking to pick a zerg in this spot. In the past I would have given the choice to Leenock but Leenock looks much stronger in ZvP now than he has compared to most of his career. Even though Curious has been very strong lately, + Show Spoiler [IPTL ST vs IM spoiler] +recently defeated Seed in IPTL Symbol+ Show Spoiler [later picks] + 5th pick Curious --> Polt -- Curious showed some strong ZvT in the first round and Polt's weakest matchup currently is definitely vs zerg. Curious could also be looking for a player that has a shot at taking out Seed at the time tame and Polt's TvP is definitely strong enough to be competitive. alt pick MKPLast pick Polt --> TaeJa -- sorry Polt+ Show Spoiler [Groups I came up with] + Group A: DRG, Heart, Life, RainGroup B: Squirtle, Happy, HerO, SymbolGroup C: Mvp, JYP, Leenock, MarinekingGroup D: Seed, Curious, Polt, TaeJa I'm sure many people will potentially disagree, but that's what is so much fun about the group selection! There are so many combinations that can turn out :D! Can't wait! | ||
