Go MKP, NesTea, Mvp and I dont really care who wins the last one!
I voted for MKP, NesTea, BaBy and MC though. The first two games are hard to call because both MKP and JangBi didnt look great in their first games and NesTea looked bad against fantasy, but hes nestea.
Kespa players fighting! Especially Jangbi because he's the only one I can picture possibly losing!
And really we can't budge Jangbi from one miss click losing him the game when his play in proleague has been very good. He shouldn't be a pushover for MKP at all.
Please win at least this game MKP so you're at least in contention >.> so heartbreaking after last week. for other games I went with nestea, baby, and mc

MC will probably beat San, but who knows with pvp.
Baby trashed MVP the other day, but it's still MVP so I'll take a faith vote and go with the game genie.
I've never seen Last play, but I've completely lost faith in Nestea's ZvT as of late and he did nothing against Fantasy last week to make me change my mind :/.

lol, G1 was an aggressive build from MVP that got shutdown hard by Baby and Baby was way ahead. The rest was just a 10 minute death animation. Calling it a long macro game is basically calling the DRG-Jangbi game a long macro game.

It was a macro game compared to game 2. And baby didn't expand for the longest time during MVP's build, although he had a second orbital. Also, even though one player was behind that "doesn't" mean that it "wasn't" a macro game. Because it clearly was.

But it wasn't a long macro game that Mvp got completely dismantled... That would imply that Mvp was beatened in the macro phase which was not true. Basically Mvp stayed in the game to see if Baby would make a huge mistake. It would be like zergs failing a roach rush or baneling bust and then transitioning to 3 bases. Sure, the game might get to 3 bases but these is little chance for comeback.
JangBi < MarineKing mkp beat parting in the gstl at ipl 4 NesTea < Last nestea lost to fantasy so his zvt isnt that good Mvp < BaBy baby already beat mvp in something else MC > San mc already san in a previous gsl
I'm going to say that MKP is going to choke HARD HARD HARD vs jangbi.
Jangbi comming off his recent OSL BW league win vs the guy who just can't handle pressure of any type at all.
Just so frustrating, MKP could easily become the best player currently if he would just be consistent, when he's good he's untouchable and when he gets any pressure at all he folds like paper.
Hrm, Grubby casting and some sick games coming up, this will get my attention over the GSL any day assuming they clash. MarineKing the best bet for GSL players, but he's impossible to predict so could be a good day for KESPA.
Got caught in the MVP hype after his IEM win, but he's still not the same player he was last year and I'm beginning to doubt he'll ever be the same again.
They need to get someone with a fashion sense over there.. Grubby usually looks quite handsome but.. I dont know, they look like satirical characters of themselves all of a sudden?

It's not that I think 360p is even too low to watch comfortably but I'm just afraid that eventually they're going to settle on a 240p and that's just ... Well it's like recording SC2 on a NES-cartridge.

Oh lol they want how much per month from us for even 480p? I've bought almost all the GSL tickets but $20 for a month is pretty steep especially considering that doesn't even encompass a full season I believe. Ah well, maybe they will drop the price when no one subscribes. >_<

Their casting is ok it's actually not bad for there first game. Obviously and chemistry comes later during more games being caster together but Grubby can pretty much work with everyone and moletrap casting has been getting better imo. So no there's nothing "too bad" about this casting situation imo.

One can go and try to compare two circles with different size -- it is possible. People are trying to compare players whose not only training but natural abilities and motivation can be different to say the least. It is a total waste of time to indulge into speculations of such kind.

Maybe they will improve on that and Moletrap will become the play-by-play caster since he seems more passionate for the ex-BW pros here then for the GSL players. Moletrap knows quite a lot about the BW history of many of those players. In a perfect world Moletrap will become a play-by-play caster who spreads some stuff about the players that happens besides the games while Grubby analyzes and explains the games.

Jangbi did not have any stalkers and when he spotted two medivacs threatening his mineral line in his main, he moved his 5 sentries back to deal with them. MKP then moved his army up the ramp unopposed as there were no sentries there anymore and Janbi's zealots were out of position. MKP stimmed his army to kill Janbi's small army of zealots. MKP unloaded his medivacs and his marauders sniped the lone colossus and then killed the natural. It was completely one-sided.

Keep your sentries on the low ground to FF if the army comes up.
Jangbi was actually doing too mcuh at that point. Like Grubby was saying, his additional gateways was very late and he was also skipping extra collosus and going straight into templar. He showed one Collosus to fake MKP out... but MKP just decided to be aggressive anyway lol.
On September 04 2012 20:14 forumtext wrote: I am new to sc2. can someone tell me exactly what is janbi suppose to do in that engagement?
you only send a few zealot and stalkers to stop the drop, you leave a decent zealot force and sentry + col at the front
MKP cant drop ontop of P units because they will get shredded and when the terran sends his units up the front you FF them in half and kill them off with the col

It's a LOT easier to study NesTea's play through the ton of available replays then to study a new player style.

Still remains to be seen as those 10 years were of BW. SC2 is a different game and the pace of the game is unlike BW.

That was just really really sad to watch as a Nestea fan, every now and again he has moments of brilliance and then he turns around and dies like this .
I can't pick a fav in MVP vs Baby, I'll just hope for a good game, maybe a nice long game ending in sky terran battles of epicness.
2-6 is pretty mediocre. He also lost to Action (lol) on a map that is heaven for terran players (lol x2). Sure hes a terran sniper. No, he isn't a good player.

I don't quite understand why everyone complains about it so much. It's group stage. If it was a single elimination Bo1 bracket that makes sense but I personally don't see why it's a huge deal to have a Bo1 group.

Bo1 just goes against so much precedent already set by the SC2 scene. Also, most consumers of SC2 didn't follow BW, so tradition isn't a mitigating factor for them at all. I think change is inevitable if OSL wants a bigger foreign audience, though obv they know their business in terms of the domestic market.

talking about volume, I dont know how VLC handles their audio engine so that it's freaking louder than any other media player. 200% at max instead of 100% lol

Tradition isn't a good reason anyway tbh. Plus I suppose it could be argued that SC2 is more volatile (at the moment) so the more games in a series the better to determine the better player.

Depends on if he'll get seeded or not.
Koreans (except kespa ones) dont get seeds. Judging by his play today and last week in OSL, he will get crushed in ro32 and probably in Code A.
Except that he always, always plays better in the GSL. This is a tough season though, and he's in a hard group. It may well be the season he drops down, but he'll be right back up.

The reason why I personally feel a Bo1 Round Robin is best for a group is in a Bo1 the stronger player will usually win. It rewards studying your opponent and playing standard and safe is more likely as not only can you hold cheese, but it takes you to the mid game (needs to be longer, stupid maps) and late game.
You can also prepare a cheese for a Bo1, but you're putting way more on the line as if you lose that's it.
Hey guys im sorry but something came up i need to take care of, would someone mind making a poll after the remaining games just asking if people would recommend it or not? Ill update OP asap. Thanks and sorry TT =[

We're talking about style, not "swag" (not that the comparison applies to "swag" either).

some people prefer to see game plans which aren't as awesome in a Bo1. Also sc2 is not build for a bo1 system, so doubt bo1 will stay in for long. Anyway right now most people are used to bo3 and most prefer what they are used too. Players used to bo3 facing a bo1 probably feel they have to play defensive, while players with more experience don't get bothered by it and end up ahead. Atleast this is what i get out of the games in the osl.

Baby rushing in with his bionic forces and snipes a couple tanks, runs in too deep and loses a lot MVP running uphill and both sides lose a lot of units
Baby seems to have such a great understanding of unit ranges / positioning and such. The little moves, going in and out with his marauders all the time are so smooth and efficient, pleasure to watch.
landing near 1 or 3 tanks okay, but don't land clumped up vikings in front of 10 tanks, so painful to watch. MVPs mech is so nice to watch, when usually mech play looks so untrained.
Great great play by Mvp. But Baby has developed into a heavy choker, his future looked so bright, but he has not been going anywhere during the last two years.
On September 04 2012 20:55 BLinD-RawR wrote: if you hit cloak before the viking missiles reach you you don't take damage?

dota mechanics =D
Technically only windwalk dodges and other forms of invisibility don't. And going from detected to undetected doesn't interrupt anything in WC3.
in wc3 im pretty sure blademaster can dodge storm bolds with windwalk and in dota you can dodge stuff with lothars edge
Yeah, lothar's is just windwalk iirc (haven't played dota for a while). Blink also dodges, and several other custom triggers in DotA like potm's leap.
Windwalk dodges when cast, even if the bm's still detected. But if the bm windwalks, then storm bolt is thrown (or equivalent skill), then the bm moves out of detection/dust ends/whatever then it will hit.
At any rate, the point is that invisibility doesn't cancel attacks in wc3/dota, one skill that also makes you invisible does (and anything based off that skill in UMS maps)
When Mvp plays mech I feel like he is so confident in his army movement. He move his army like he think he will never be caught unsiege. When I play it so freaking scary to move mech army around the map.

There's only one scenario in which MC doesn't automatically go through: Flash > MC, Best > Flash and San. That would put San at 0-3 and the rest at a 2-1 tie breaker.

I'm going to have to disagree with you here. Not on the fact that everyone hates, but that having a favorite team has you enjoying the game less than not having a favorite team. Having a favorite team gives meaning to every game. Each game feels more intense, Quick baseball example - I would not really enjoy watching (MLB) Houston v. Kansas Cty - however I would watch the Boston Red Sox v. Any Team regardless of their current position in the standing. Granted I would watch the Houston game, it just wouldn't be fun. Similar to watching a pro you don't care about v. watching a pro that you acftually like.

You disagree because you only find meaning if you root for a player. I don't, i just chill and enjoy the games. Good games already have a meaning, a powerful one, you don't need to be rooting for a player, following a storyline or whatever to enjoy them. That's why i don't root for people, i would miss awesome matches, or get stupidly pissed at flawless play from others players which i dislike... just for the sake of being a fanboy.
What i am saying (if i am saying something), is that rooting for teams is ok, as far you still enjoy the game enough to don't be dumb about it (like 99% of the posts about KeSPA vs GSL players).

I think the main problem is that A LOT of contributers (BW and SC2) don't seem to understand the diffirence between, ribbing (The act or an instance of joking or teasing) and agressivly cutting someone down at the knees. Jokes (ribbing) are funny when both parties can have a laugh about. With one party feeling a bit sour, of-course.

What the freak is this? TommyP, I appreciate your effort and what you did here by Live Reporting, but you just did two NOT acceptable things.
1: If you create a live report thread, ALL the results must be filled out. I have done this several times as well so I'm not perfect, but I do ALWAYS make sure it's filled out in the end. Right now you have the results for the first two matches but not the last two. This is unacceptable. People depend on these live report threads to know the results and not everyone chooses to use Liquipedia.
2: DO NOT put your own statements in recommendations section. That is for TL viewers to decide. If you're not going to post a poll for each game, then don't bother having a recommendations section at all. Saying things like "Not worth watching really" and "Dear God do not watch this game" are your personal opinions and not the opinions of other people. Maybe the games were not as bad as you thought or maybe the games were as bad as you thought but you embellished it. The bottom line is, it is not for you to decide but for a poll to decide.

If you're not going to post a poll for each game, then don't bother having a recommendations section at all. well there is no disputing point No:1
although Point No:2 its been done a lot, hell I've done the same in my LR threads but its always good to not only put out your opinion but a poll at the same time too.

I've done this before as well, and let me tell you... you get flamed like a bitch. People don't appreciate your own input. And if you do put in your own input, they also want a poll or some other source.
What the fudge guys. They want us to buy season passes to get 480p+ and access to VODs. It's pretty much the worst deal in the world... 480p? Seriously? Even MLG is better than that noise.

I'm always deciding on recommended games by myself (for BW). Ppl bitch sure, but imho if ppl do care about that stuff they should never click on the recommended games spoiler to begin with and just watch the whole match. If I see "watch this, bisu played" or "long macro game" or ïntese micro battle" I feel much better and positively informed what to watch if Im to watch the games selectively. I wouldn't do it if Im to make an OP for SC2 though, but if I see your OP with recommended games comments I would defenitely find it useful.
Point 1 is totally valid though, its really annoying not to have the results updated.
I'm sorry I made a post saying I had something to take care of and asked if someone could do polls. I'm back and I'll update it. Please don't hate me!!! Also on polls I did set up (first two games) when I looked at them they were both no. And I thought we were friends... Did you see the NesTea game by the way?
Yeah, no vods? Was this announced in advance somewhere? I was looking forward to watching these. But it's now $20? That's more than GSL for a lot less games, worse casting, and (I believe) just vods from Twitch that don't hide the number of games and so forth instead of a nice, clean website. Just randomly requiring payment with no warning doesn't bode well for their reliability or customer service.... Seems GOM isn't in any danger of getting out-competed any time soon, at least with the foreigner audience.

I remember them saying that it should be free after 30 days though.
is this true?
And when will they be available for those who pay? Got the 20USD subscription to see the VoDs, but they're not there...
I almost expected this. They're still having too many technical issues. It'd be best for them to run this season without charging anything and get the problems ironed out first.
Anyways, poor NesTea... pretty much out of the OSL now already after two losses.
This is brute incompetence guys, I for one won't be paying for this season. They could at least make it customer friendly as the GSL, have a real website, and promise video that isn't fucking blurry as hell. This is 2012, there's no excuse for this.
Seeing as the VODs aren't even available to those who subscribed, maybe it's by mistake that the VODs aren't available. Maybe tweeting Moletrap and Grubby will help alerting them to this problem.
Round robin, so there can still be 1-2 tiebreakers, I think.
Yes, without a doubt they aren't knocked out yet. If a player in their group goes 3-0 and they win their 3rd games then it goes to a three-way tie breaker to see who advances in the 2nd slot.
Not unequivocally. A string of 6+ favorable results for them may give them a chance of regames. (3-0 1-2 1-2 1-2 and then winning the tie-breaker)

I'll bring this up with them tomorrow. I am not personally responsible, of course, so.
So, the 20$ are for this season only and not for the rest of the year, right? Starting from a Bo1 Ro16. That's really not very much content at all at quite the steep prize. I'll pass on this one (Moletrap casting doesn't make this more attractive tbh), though I really wanted to support a SC2 OSL, oh well. Grubby casting is tempting however, and I won't be able to catch it live, hmmm.

Thanks, Grubby, you're the best. I'm sure your casting today (which, alas, I cannot witness now because of no VODs) was top-notch.
When you bring this up tomorrow, could you also recommend to them possibly not charging for this very first season as they will need time to iron out the technical mishaps? It would also grow the viewer base for now and possibly translate to more subscriptions the following season.
I've avoided seeing all SC2 news while at work today, have got home and just made it through todays GSL games, then went onto twitch to watch the OSL, and see they aren't available. So I see the subscribe button, and it says that it will give me access to the vods, so I pay the money (even though I don't reallllyyy want to give OGN money yet because of the crap broadcasts we've had so far), and I STILL dont get the vods.
These OGN guys have done an absolutely terrible job of bringing in their SC2 coverage, and they really need to look at what GOM offers and try to at least get somewhere near it.
Really dissapointed. And they already have my money

I missed it as well, but I heard Mvp vs Baby was a great match.
I desperately need to watch MVP vs Baby. Does anyone know where I can find any of these VODs (in any language really) ? Please reply or PM me, thank you very much.
