As usual, don't player bash, don't flame, and don't balance whine. Failure to heed this warning will have consequences.

Speed buff only helps a tiny amount, but I agree. It's meh and doesn't address the issue. Ravens are basically floating detectors until they eventually get enough energy to cast a missle. Makes their relative cost (not even including upgrades), hardly worth enough unless the Terran is very rich on a macro map like Atlantis or Metro. Try pulling this on possibly a smaller map like Ohana or Daybreak, probably not as easy.

If you do, terran can't HSM, if you don't, broods die. Nerchio had the brood pack within 6 range of the Ravens, plenty of space to 9 range fungal.

since when does that matter? Isn't Zerg just amove? I mean, every balance whine states that skill doesn't matter for Zergs, as long as they get Unit Composition X they win. And suddenly everything is different???

You're going to move forward anyways, so the raven at least stops the zerg from advancing if it's fungaled and the terran is careful with positioning. All the terrans saying ravens are bad don't understand the problem is not the range or cost of HSM but the time it takes to have a raven with enough energy.

To be fair, if you were watching the game you'd notice MVP was half a step from complete loss for very nearly the entire game despite sniping those bases, although half of it was because of the map. But then again maps are a large part of balance I suppose.
