So what nations are included in Oceania that aren't Australia?
|
|
|
WCS Oceania is the Top 6 players from WCS Australia, and the Top 2 players from WCS New Zealand.

Where we at in the bracket right now? Is Mafia vs Tgun winners bracket semis?

That was very impressive from Tgun. Great micro and positioning all over the map. He'll really be an awesome player once his macro catches up to his other strengths.

ACL is broadcasting at 720p+ which will provide the best video & audio output on your end. Unfortunately Twitch is crunching the quality when dropping down to lower settings and causing audio problems. There is nothing ACL can really do at this point unfortunately as it's all on Twitch's side.
PS. They are looking at ways to solve the issues (ie. stream restrart) so we'll see what happens
|
Well I cant watch at 720+.I dont have the bandwidth
|
I thought the tournament yesterday was for seeds into the WCS finals? I don't understand how PiG and moonglade can end up on the same side of the bracket
Either way, can't watch the stream at 720+ and too much lag otherwise so given up on the tournament. A bit disappointing - even though it isn't WCS' fault for the stream.
|
lol wow that baneling hit
35 workers killed so far, only 12 minutes in
|
It seems a bit odd to have a tourney for players from Australia, and then another for players from Australia + New Zealand. There must be a more efficient way to find out the best players of that region.
|
Keep in mind New Zealand had the same kind of event Australia did, which is where the 2 New Zealand seeds came from. They did the Australia & Oceania events back to back for logistical reasons!

I still don't understand why those places are called 'seeds'. It's a bit misleading when you look at the bracket set up.
Moonglade vs PiG 2nd round Both NZ on the same side of the bracket
Looks like a random generated bracket. Not a seeded one.

also, congrats to moonglade. crazy how he has consistently been the best player in australia, even as the scene gets better and better.
|
Ok so does moonglade stand even the smallest chance in the championship? Can he/does he even train hard in australia?
|

I just think seeds is a misleading term then. Seeding implies they are ranked and sorted so #1 and #2 don't meet. To me anyway. Wouldn't the Swedish people be disappointed to see Thorzain knock out SortOf/Seiplo or any combination of those in the first round? Or even the second? It just seems poorly organised in that regard.

Not at all. Seed Moonglade and pig as #1-4 along with NZ guys (doesnt really matter who is 1,2,3,4 as long as pig/glade and light/jazbas get opposite sides of the bracket ie glade/pig as 1/2 or light/jazbas as 1/2). Then the other 4 seed 5-6 and 7-8 based on placing yesterday.
Really easy fix. The same should be done in the Europe WCS too to avoid knocking each other out in rounds 1-2 [ie people from the same qualifier]

i remember a tournament where he beat nestea in an upset zvz, and had some other amazing unexpected wins against good players. but that was a long time ago now and i don't think it was repeated since.

Can we get the name of this host with the dreads?? He's really spirited man. There's nothing better than watching someone really get pumped up along with a crowd for something they and we all love.
Seriously he makes Clutch look like an 90yr old guy. Getting names of teams and players wrong. Having ZERO real emotion. That half ass loud voice he does does not equate to excitement. MLG needs to hire this guy and send Clutch on his way man. I really dislike people being a part of our scene who don't actually give half a damn. Not only being a part but profiting from it. Its just grimey.

oceania finals seems little bit O_o i mean its just 1 day after australian finals and ONLY 2 non australian players so its like the first australian finals after top6 total unnesseccary so sad for Pig ... i mean he crushed australian finals be 1st and now he is 5th and not qualified for world .( just 1 day later vs same players

Yea, WCS Australia was just the pre-qualifier (same as WCS USA, WCS Canada, WCS Mexico for North America)
I believe it was mentioned earlier in the thread that WCS Australia and WCS Oceania are on the same weekend for logistics reasons.

Its unfortunate, but you gotta be hot, play your best when it matters. It can be argued that players underperformed/hid starts/etc. at AUS finals, because they knew Oceania Finals were the next day and much more important. Also, it can be argued that people who made the adjustments based on the previous day are the better player and deserve to advance.

Looks like MaFia is going to Shanghai.
EDIT:
Guess I spoke too soon. MaFia getting impatient and charging into well-spread roach/infestor + spine crawlers
EDIT 2:
Another engagement. MaFia with 2-2 versus tgun's 2-0. MaFia has a better arc and crushes tgun's army pushing up to tgun's side of the map. MaFia also has a greater spire on the way for a BL transition.

Wow, australians should be very grateful to Blizzard for doing this O_o Looks like Blizzard really want to grow the scene there, I mean its more logical to host one event for both Australia and NZ. And here we have 3 events with big prize pools (compared to those European WCSs and quality of players).

Definitely another Maynard (he was american).
Pretty damn cool event, definitely enjoyed what little I got to see (scheduling >_<). Not that surprised Moonglade pulled through even though I knew there were more talented players than just him at the event.

Well, that ended like we all predicted.. with Moonglade winning at the end x)

Such a great event! Thanks to ACL, Blizzard, all the players, all four casters, volunteers, and the sponsors (Horize Frag Labs, AVerMedia, Razer, and some others) for a wonderful weekend! Hope everyone was watching, it was a fantastic production, with prize giveaways, Tychus Findlay custom voice messages, a FRICKING NEXUS BIRTHDAY CAKE, and amazing games!
Once again, thanks to all those involved.
|
Are there Vods available anywhere for this tournament?
Was hoping to find Knight/MoonGlade game 2.
Thanks.
|
What a fantastic event! So well put on!
|
Props to everyone involved. The games were fantastic, I thought Glade, Mafia, tgun and PiG played particularly well. It's great to see your guys (and the rest of the players) get some of the exposure you deserve. Other than the problems with the stream audio I thought the event was great. GL to Mafia and Moonglade at the world championships!
