Format
This double-elimination tournament features 24 teams from around the world and is an All-Kill team format. This match is being played for the Winners Final. The first team to defeat everyone on the opposing team's roster (5 wins, or a best of 9), will move on to the Grand Finals at IPL Face Off: San Francisco Showdown, while the loser will drop down to the Losers Final. Keep in mind that this has a $20,000 prize pool, and only six teams will make it to the money!

He is a player that won one of their recruitment tournaments. The games that I have seen of him have been pretty gimmicky, including a 2 gate proxy that got scouted against a Zerg on Ohana, which resulted in him immediately GG'ing.
He's nothing special. LosirA should wipe the floor with him. I've seen him do 3 builds ever in televised games, all of which were on ESV weekly. +2 Blink all-in, 4 gate, and 2 gate proxy.

MMA got demoted to the B team... and MMA is the leading player for SlayerS-EG in the GSTL Finals on Friday... He didn't leave.
Those results look extremely similar to SlayerS-EG vs. Fnatic from 2 weeks ago... Only difference is CoCa is Zerg and Ryung is Terran... Other than that, it's the same races winning the same games in the series on the same side... 3 Protoss wins for SlayerS, 2 Protoss wins for the enemy, CoCa/Ryung difference, 2 Terran wins for the opponent, clutch Terran for SlayerS... o__o
Arthur as SlayerS first player? Is this a sign that they wont use any of their "good players" (they are all good obviously, but I mean guys like Puzzle, CoCa etc) because of GSTL finals?

They only had to beat 2 teams to get this far; the horrible mismatch that was DTG, and the disappointing MVP (with even DRG only managing a single win). I think Slayers is going to be a much tougher match :D

That's not true they had to face Startale in the previous round and won 5-2 with First getting 3 kills and Losira getting the final two, beating Parting and Squirtle.
That being said I do believe Slayers is the toughest match yet and they will need to bring out the big guns to win.
You know...it's kind of funny but I think IM might actually be better off with not playing MVP, Nestea, OR MC >__>
Despite being the main reason IM looks so scary they don't seem to bring their a-game to team league and rarely play anyway. Seed, Happy, Losira, First, Yonghwa and Yoda really deserve more credit here and will probably be the ones to carry IM through this.
We're also running out of things to make fun of the coach for considering dreamertt and horror might no longer be a laughable pick anymore (both qualified for WCS). Only way the coach can botch this is sending the wrong race three times in a row again(like against Symbol -_-) or somehow Fenix, BBi, or Junwi make a surprise appearance.

hmm? The big 3 unfortunately aren't that big in team leagues for some reason.
Would not be surprised if Losira just all-killed Slayers, he's totally capable of it. I feel like Losira is definitely the best player to open with, considering he's good in every mu and generally does well in these. Doesn't strike me as a sniper with strange builds or great decisions that might throw an opponent off guard, no he's more like a guy who's just solid and could reliably net a lot of kills.

MC was requested to be on the roster before the tournament began, so we said sure, as the GSTL partnership existed before our tournament.

Also, on a side note, I was thinking if SK participated it would be how many teams can MC all-kill... So many players have the potential to all-kill, a series dedicated to players trying to all-kill teams would be fun to watch... Then again that would be like Fight Club on crack... @_@
edit - and for those of you saying LosirA could all-kill - I know he's an amazing Zerg and everything, but we don't know if the games were played yesterday or this morning... We could be seeing a jet-lagged LosirA or recovering from jet-lag LosirA from MLG Summer Arena... I'll give him 2 kills at most... and I think I'm being generous with that...
Probably IM will win this easily...the reason why I say this is because Slayers can't really use their players as korean usually tend to favor GSL/GSTL more than foreign tournaments and they are in the GSTL finals and probably want to hide some tactics and the general recent play of players etc.

As of 3 weeks ago I've seen maybe 10 or so games from him, he's not up to the skill level of most B teamers but that doesn't mean he can't upset here and there, kinda weird SlayerS are starting him out with this match against IM. XP is one thing but not if it costs you a match.

He's had a few appearances in korean online tournament like ESV Weekly and Esports Weekly Match, reaching a semifinal and a final respectively with wins over players like Revival, Galaxy, Tree, GuMiho. He tried the seed build but his macro/execution just wasn't good enough, maybe if he had gotten into the natural, rather than attacking into the spine wall.

Seed's done it a few times on entombed, I think he hits around the 15 minute mark with a 200/200 +3 blink stalker attack. I've seen it work every game he's done it.

Maybe it has something to do with him being on IM? might have immediately recognized the strategy.

It hits at 14:10 if you macro perfectly, It's so strong because of the huge number of units. Add in blink and you can micro a maxed army against a Zerg without hive tech, just ridiculously strong.

I think Arthur missed his timing too, the build makes the most sense on entombed because you can take a third without nearly as many sentries as on cloud, letting you put more gas into stalkers. In the first game I saw seed do it, he maxed out at 14 minutes with just pure blink stalker with +3 and very little, if any, sentry and zealot support

Don't forget that he went with a heavy phoenix opener, I think that that was more important to delaying the timing than the number of sentries.

Modern PvZ is kind of boring. 15 minutes no attack only soft harrasment and then late game, if vortex hits 3/4 of the broodlords protoss wins if not zerg wins.
Alicia should have either flown the Immortals away, or focused down the festors, both would have been miles better then letting them just die to lings.

They're actually really good in this kind of situation. They're a real critical mass unit and if you get mass, mass carriers with 3/3 they pretty damn amazing.

I kind of agree that the game would play out better if brood lords didn't exist. Obviously Zerg would be too weak and would need a buff somewhere else but Brood Lords are just such a slow and boring unit and really, really encourage these awful turtling games.

Swarm hosts and Vipers are going to limit the amount of gas in Infestors. Which should be a good thing IMO.
Carriers are not bad, they are just like BL, weak in small numbers&without a support of ht/archon to kill corruptors/infestors but when massed and well upgraeded their dps is just insane. The main difference is that they take far too much time and resources for stargates to make even with chrono and that the zerg can make spines from drones to make supply for bl when toss must sacrifice his units which are expensive.

Yeah, and they don't actually do any damage, so I can't imagine them being used on mass in the Zerg deathball. Toss should be fine imo, they're harass is gonna become so good when all Protoss improve and they have super long range snipers, and a base auto shut down mechanic, and the Tempest will be really good at punishing an indecisive zerg just camping under spines, they're have to commit and push out more. Should be good!

loisira so good, I remember how much i was impressed a couple year ago when he played @ mlg vs MMA in the final. he lost but was the only zerg who could compete with MMA multitasking drops at this time. I think in one of these game he repelled like 60 drops from MMA was just insane lol

Ok, now I do not want to take anything away from Losira, as he is kicking our asses right now. But I think that maybe these strange plays and lineup choices by Slayers might be influenced by the upcoming GSTL finals. The FXO people are certainly going to watch these, and analyze what they can, and I think the Slayers coaches don't want to reveal too much.
IM is a great team, and thus far they are playing better than us, and I don't want to make this an excuse for losing. This is the 2nd most important teamleague in the world right now (not counting proleague, I guess), and it is the winners finals, and the winner goes to San Fran. But I guess that's the tradeoff the Slayers management decided to make.
I don't think SlayerS is taking this too seriously anymore, not with GSTL coming up. Why would they send out Miya when down 3-0? And that just makes me sad, because IPLTAC is still a premier tournament, and an all-out IM vs SlayerS match would've been epic

Here's a gist of what happened:
Basically the GSTL interviewer girl asked Jessica about sending out Miya, in which Jessica replied:
"Miya is one of our best players right now. He defeats everyone in practice. Unfortunately, he gets nervous during televised matches so as soon as he fixed that issue, Miya will be unstoppable"
Although to be fair it seems like that's the case for every b-teamer on korean teams ever, at least according to interviews.
Pros seem to have a lot of pressure/performance management issues. This is likely due to their young age combined with the lack of proper training/support... I remember reading that a coach's solution for nerves was to buy the player chewing gum, or something akin. -_-

Because A) Losira looks a bit like a barn owl and B) He tends to wave his head in a weird way after he wins which is a bit reminiscent of the way an owl moves its head.

That won't go away on the back of a single player. The stigma stems from the coach making increasingly more baffling decisions as the match goes on regarding which players get sent out.

You guys love meaningless trivia right? This is the first match in this IPL TAC where the majority of wins were not from an IM protoss (Yonghwa all killed dtg, seed 3 killed MVP and first 3 killed startale).

well for instance now Seed gets to see how MC handles the relatively rare phoenix vs. phoenix game. You can try to find tendancies, see how MC reacts when plans have to change, etc.
What I love about MC (and something that makes him a real champion) is that MC always knows when he's ahead and when it's right to just go fucking kill him.
Congrats to IM-SK! Hope that SlayerS does not play like that in the GSTL finals though. I'll just give SlayerS the benefit of the doubt and say they were saving their builds and players.

I think that for IPL TAC the teams do absolutely care about winning but they're not spending all week practising specific maps and preparing sniping strats for the likes of DRG and MKP.
I feel like MCs win there was like the sickest mindgame vs Seed for the finals. He reveals one build, one of obviously many, but shows that you just really cannot fuck with him, Seed is bound to notice and watch the game, but what can he learn? That MC is a boss?
Think Losira will be the ace for sure in the IPL showmatch. I've always felt like he's been IM's best team league performer.
and I think Seed is probably the most deserving of getting sent to IPL5. Though if I was going for a more selfish pick, I'd hope that they'd send Nestea :p

There's more history between the teams and I think Startale has the strongest team league lineup on paper due to not only the player quality but diversity as well (this is before the Zenex merger even).
Prime is pretty small and seems to be somewhat weak to Zerg. Highly doubt they could last two bo9s against IM to make this event interesting.
Slayers looks pretty good on paper but after the series today...I dunno. Their terran lineup isn't too strong anymore either, which is a shame since they historically rose to greatness from terrans. It's just Protoss and Coca carrying them now, unless MMA gets his shit together.
MVP could pose a threat if DRG rebounds.

Yea they sent out pretty good players too. So I don't really like that argument. They don't want to try to guarantee the trip +money, since they are participating in another tournament. Losira simply played well, with MC being a boss.

Who needs " good " lineups when you get this far into the tournament without playing Mvp Nestea or MC?
They only had to beat 2 teams to get this far; the horrible mismatch that was DTG, and the disappointing MVP (with even DRG only managing a single win). I think Slayers is going to be a much tougher match :D
