Staying up until 2 am on a friday, how terrible!!
Yeah, yeah. I know. Ask me a year ago and it wouldn't have been a problem. I guess MLG caters to a young enough crowd that this probably doesn't hurt them but if they really want to start going main stream I would imagine they will start to take this kinda stuff more into consideration (ending at midnight on the east coast).
It's not soo bad for Europa imho. Only the first day is very late. But the second and final date are quite ok imho. You can also watch the VODs the next day so it's no problem. (but I'm pretty much only looking forward to the Zerg games, so for me it's not a great problem if I get spoiled.

What time do you want this start at? Two hours earlier when a lot of people will be still in school or at work? Or would you want to start it later a few hours and have them go until 2:00 AM+ into the night to try and keep up to schedule?
So starting an event at 9 AM is way too much to ask. It has to start in the middle of the day?
It's a FRIDAY, LIKE YOU SAID. Kids in school till 3:00 PM, usually. Adults in work until maybe around 4:00 PM/5:00 PM. If you start it at 9:00 AM on a Friday, you're going to have 10 people in the audience. That would be idiotic by MLG to basically say fuck you to the audience who paid a ticket so that they can cater to the European audience.
Nobody expects a friday crowd to be big. And they would still get half of the day of games anyway and would not be forced to watch games in the middle of the night with games played by exhausted players.
Instead EU will bring 20.000 viewers that will watch MLG ads or what ever. OH, but that sounds too ambitious I guess.
Oh stop trolling....
Is this a standard MLG with a free LQ stream? Or am I going to have to just look up results in the here in theLR thread??

Yes standard MLG with free SD stream (480p is not that bad, just don't blow it up to full screen).

I was watching a fighting game stream, and as far as I could tell, a crazed chine man got on the mic. He was discussing how in the zone he gets while playing, and his ability to focus. So, he could be naked while playing, and while he would be distracted, he would never ever touch himself. ^_^ %_% Previous sig quotes include :

If only you could fit all of that into the quote box.

Meh, your arguments are weak. 9:00 AM on a Friday morning is an awful time. MLG has always started 4:00 PM with it's opening ceremonies in whatever time zone they are in. No one should expect MLG set in Anaheim to cater more to the European audience than the pay who paid tickets. Same thing with how Americans shouldn't expect special treatment by having Dreamhack or GSL start at crazy times so they get more viewers.
The people that paid tickets most likely will not be so cheerful in the middle of the night in Anaheim even if the schedule will go as planned (though, let's be serious). Some will also leave. I can bet that many will not come in the first place on friday.
The games will deteriorate as players go in the night. So how is this a win win situation for the people in Anaheim? Because they get to see the opening ceremony?
9:00 AM for an event that goes 12+ hours is a perfect time. And the bonus is that you get global coverage not just local.
But to be honest my main concern is that when EU will wake up in the morning we will see some terrible game played live by exhausted players.

"Nobody expects a friday crowd?" I'm pretty sure the venue is close to or already has sold out for spectators... Just quit digging yourself a hole... You realize how stupid you sound?
EDIT: MLG UPDATE: "Due to ceaRshaf's complaint about timezone broadcasting issues, we regret to inform you all that we won't be starting the matches until 2:35am PST. ceaRshaf's request to cater to another countries timezone based on his supreme thought process has been the ultimate turnpoint in our decision. It's not nice to say unkind things :o
On times, here in sunny England it's actually a pretty perfect time for me. I have to stay up till about 2am to watch it all but hell I have the weekend off I was going to do that anyway. Now to figure out how to surreptitiously watch MLG while my mates are round tomorrow. They're not exactly the...type...to enjoy watching SC with me
I have to say this start time is incredibly dumb.. Start at 2AM with almost guaranteed 30min+ before any game even begins.. Who thought of this? Or rather, who didn't think about this at all? Is it the same start time tomorrow? I guess I can watch re-runs all day tomorrow if it's a decent time tomorrow to catch up but this is quite dumb I must say. Trying to be 1 of the top tournament organizers and completely ignoring surely 50% of the viewers is very odd...
I always wonder why europeans always complain about mlg times, while ignoring the fact that euro tourneys do the same thing. Dreamhacks and home story cups, etc start at 2-3am for me. The NA viewers seem to be less vocal about times for euro tourneys when those are just as bad for us.

DAMMIT MLG why did you make us live in different places on this spherical planet orbiting a star and rotating on it's axis, creating cycles of light and darkness that we use to dictate which times we rest and which times we eat and work. First PPV now this. Fuck.
