Here we go again. This weekend is about good games and good fun. Don't rain on that parade. Play nice guys. Here's the very standard and friendly:

- NO Balance Whine.
- NO Player Bashing.
- NO Caster Bashing.
- NO BM whatsoever.

Breaking these rules (from pg 166 forward) will be met with severe punishment.

Yeah, MC is always 2 base all-inning, only he does it ...

MVP has allined a lot more in TvP and TvT on 1 base, yet everyone only remembers MC's allins.

MC allin - damn cheeser!
MVP allin - wow AWESOME timing attack!

Sigh..

MVP is the one playing 20+ sets this tournament.

How many did MC have to play? 4.

What does that have to do with anything?

MVP always 1-1-1s TvP and occasionally 1 bases vs Terran. Nobody gives him crap for that.
what

mvp almost never 1-1-1s

those games weren't even really 1-1-1 allins, they were just marine-tank pushes

the third 1 involves a starport, you know

people just see marines and tanks vs protoss and immediately go anal and spam 111.

these goddamn nerds....

Leenock didn't look that hot in GSL. somehow he advanced. It really is a telling of the system that Leenock, MVP, DRG advanced,, while 3 out of the 4 seeds got bamboozled

How come MVP doesn't have any fans? Being the best player in the world ought to count for something, and earn him some fans? If MKP or Huk would have been the best, they would have tons of fans. It is a bit weird, he is always well-spoken, doesn't cheat and don't cheese, he is pure talent, but still, as he said himself, he doesn't have many fans.

He definitely has fans, judging by this thread alone, but there's maybe a bunch of reasons why he isn't the most popular with the fans.

First of all, he is the best. He'll get huge respect for that, definitely, but people like underdogs. People also don't like to see the same person win everything.

Secondly, he doesn't show emotion. I actually quite like that, because it's very professional and it means he can keep calm and not play on tilt. However, that lack of emotion doesn't translate well to fans. Fans like when you can see how much a win / loss means to a player.

I think it's the same in any sport, really.

I do think MVP has a huge amount of respect though. I'm a Protoss fanboy but I'll openly admit MVP is a fantastic player. You don't get that good by just being lucky.

I'd like to add, that Flash (the greatest RTS gamer in history) also went through the same things as MVP. During his reign, when no one could beat him, people were actually joking he might destroy e-sports because of how boring the scene had become. It's the same thing with MVP.

The difference with Flash and MVP (apart from Flash being an RTS genius) is that people universally acknowledge Flash to be the greatest player of his era, and arguably the greatest BW player ever (and some would argue, like me, that he's the greatest RTS player in history).

As you can see in this thread, there are people who think MVP isn't even the best T in the world. Huge difference. It's a fucking joke, because there's no denying that MVP is the greatest SC2 Terran to date.

Yeah, cheesy players like MC and Boxer should stop playing sc2.

Why did MC wait til his Nexus was dead to attack into Mvp's army? He wouldn't have had to rebuild that Nexus and he would have lost the same army. I really think that would have made such a HUGE difference.

Because he didn't have enough units. He was waiting for the Archons. Without the Archons, his army would have died.

His real mistake there was not anticipating an all-in close air spawns on Metalopolis, tbh.

His archons were done lol

Really? I thought his first one was morphing and he was warping in 2 HTs while MVP was shelling his expo.

Anyway. I'm too tired now. I'll end up going on about balance and get banned, so see you tomorrow.

Good luck Naniwa.

lol MrBitter saying that the winner of this tournament is the best player in the world. He needs to learn that winning one tournament does not make one the best player, it's the consistency. so regardless of the outcome, MVP will still be the best players in the world after Providence.

I think the point people are arguing here is that MVP gets a lot less flak for his allins than MC does for his, I'll guide you to some truths you should listen to:

1.- MVP's TvP is clearly not up there with his other matchups, and he DOES all in a lot. I'm not saying this is bad, he just has great decision making and awesome builds but he seems to struggle with protoss early pressure so he seems to prefer ending the game before that happens.

2.- MC gets allined ALL THE TIME. This is so goddamn true I just don't see how people are so oblivious to this. He must be the most allined player in history. MC has awesome macro in the late game and when he's gotten there he's shown it. It's not only his early game builds that are strong, he just seems to create some strange effect on his opponents. Either MC goes for some early pressure and ends up winning, or screws up some multitasking or positioning and loses, or get allined. He almost never gets to play macro games, and when he does, he's usually very good at them.

3.- Many progamers have stated how deadly MC truly is. People like to bash him a lot and say he's not a good player but this cannot be any more false..

4.- Current TvP metagame in the top level sucks. Badly. Only code A TvPs are any decent and that's because the players usually aren't the best. When the best protoss face the best terran, games like these are the result, the matchup is really stale.

Leenock random dude LOL ? hes maybe one of the next best zerg of korea

I meant it that he has never come to MLG. I don't watch Korean SC so I have never seen him before.

Just kinda undermines the whole grand championship thing if some guy can not participate the whole season yet still show up and take the big prize. Sorta like NASL, they do like 3000 matches, and then some guy who never played in NASL takes the big prize, making the 3000 placement matches pointless.
That's how I roll!

FXOLeenock has been a Code S player since like...open season 3. He fell of a bit, but at the moment he's the only zerg remaining in the Code S ro8. He's also a really young guy, still in school...and it's easy to see he's got a lot of potential. He's kinda like the korean Stephano, only cuter :p

He was stuck in Code-A for a long time

This stuff is all well and good, but Naniwa or DRG is going to win this tournament.

Upper bracket always wins. Always.

MVP didn't pull a Bitbybit, lol. He just pulled a few SCV for repars and containing.

But oh well, whiners gonna whine

Well he did allin

It was a timing attack. Please learn the difference.

Most people will never learn the difference I'm afraid.

He didn't expand to a 3rd (or a 2nd on dual sight), nor was he teching. When you cut economy and tech in order to maximize army potential for an attack, you are all-in. You need to win the game then or be behind in tech and economy or at least do significant damage.

Those were both all-ins.

And it was 100% the right decision in that instance. By making only units, he's safe if MC decides to all-in after the nexus loss, he can kill him if MC goes the other way - as he did - and starts expanding and teching like crazy and if MC does a middling build, MVP retains a solid advantage.

There's a huge difference between a calculated all-in based on the game situation and something like a 6 pool.
On a purely personal note, I'd like to show Yellow the beauty of infinitely repeating Starcraft 2 bunkers. -Boxer
