Obviousl IdrA was the clear favored, but I cant imagine that was Harpner's best play considering that he is in the tournament to begin with.

Just because you're GM doesn't mean you're a pro gamer. I completely agree with your last statement. There is a huge skill gap between GM players and top pros.

Just because you're GM doesn't mean you're a pro gamer. It is the very purpose of a World Cup: having qualifiers meant to have players from all around the world. Indeed, that mean that there can be some gap of level between the competitors, but it will be basically the same thing with WCG. WCG and ESWC and MLG/IEM/IPL are really two different kinds of event, they don't have the same purpose.

Just because you're GM doesn't mean you're a pro gamer. I don't think people should defend the players but most larger tournaments have it like this or worse. I don't think there is anything wrong with it. You don't want to see what happen through open bracket at MLG, especially at the earlier rounds.

But defending native players goes both ways... alot of american players get way too much praise. That being said, this kinda looks like a very mixed bag of players.... some of them are probably at their first big tournament also... I bet there is alot of nerves. If you remember huk at his first LAN he played quite below his level.

Just because you're GM doesn't mean you're a pro gamer. If you only invite the fevorite you would never see any new commers would you. The sc2 scene would stagnate then.. And btw I think all had to qualify
