Loving the mix between NA, EU and Korean Pros. Another sign of of entwined the SC2 community is...can only be good

Why all TL opens are hosted only on NA server lately? What about Europeans?
|
On July 23 2011 19:52 DaNom wrote: Why all TL opens are hosted only on NA server lately? What about Europeans?
Koreans can't play on the European server, I'm pretty sure KR - EU latency renders the game pretty much unplayable.
|
im slightly confused; the TLopen page says Sunday (in ~25 hours), yet the Upcoming events says it starts saturday (in 1 hour).. hmmm.
|
maybe cause its Korean time.. its JUST 12:30 (aka start of a new day).. confusing none the less though =[
|
someone helppppppppppppppppp it wont let me check in
|
The check-in is broken
When you try to check in it says "You've already registered"
Edit: Works for me now.
|
fuck you Froadac D:< You wanted to co-cast. Then you don't show and I'm stuck blabbering D:
|
oh noes.. missed by 1 min the check-in T_T_T_T_T_T
|
It wouldn't let check in for the last 30 mins... fix it plox
|
MrBitter? seems like i'm just gonna watch the finals today ._. muted if a zerg plays in it. i can't stand the hugely biased commentary.
|
|
Would be cool if any of the NsHs players played in the TL Opens!
|
Oh boy, my US client patcher/launcher is freezing... why does this happen now
|
No love for the EU server anymore
Planning for a EU tourney soon?

WAs doing just fine getting ahead of my protoss opponent secured my 3rd and forth and denied his third.
And all the while never put up a spore crawler and just fucking died. WOOT. Still a great game had a lot of fun.

SlayerSGolden is so good ): I feel bad for Col.RSVP
|
KawaiiRice vs ZenexCoca coming up
|
KR has been feeling a bit... on edge today ): not sure what happened, but he has no fear of the Zenex guys (beat Naya two TL Opens ago).

DignitasTangHo just beat FXOz!

KawaiiRice doing quite well against ZeNEXCoca

Go TGun! Taking out MajOr in r32 ^^
|
Kawaii riding that TvZ, delicious. Overall not as many bigger name foreigners playing in this TLOpen (probably busy with Grubby or Shoutcraft), but we're guaranteed one in the semis
Good job on Tgun taking out Major.
|
Not many big names at all. Looks like a korean will win.

tt1 not a big name?

Ciara got seriously owned by Hack's reactor hellion opening first game. No GG as usual.
|
TGUN!!!!! nice job 2-0ing creatorprime!!!! nice job broski
|
tgun is stomping some nerds today wow. Just 2-0d CreatorPrime with lings only lol.
Also, AxelToss, just because someone made a void ray doesn't mean he's playing greedy and going "Void Rays and Collosus on 2 bases without a gateway army". He HAD a gateway army, which if you recall got demolished by lings several times prior to the Collosus tech.
|
Lalush gets stomped. BMs, doesn't GG, and leaves the game. Standard!
|
|
Hotbid, Axel wants a game!
|
hahahhaha lalush is so funny
|
Hahaha. Lalush got so burned by Spades.
|
Hahaha Spades just owned lalush so bad

nice to see a Slayers player getting deep into one of these TL opens...

I was more saying if you don't have the gateway army to support void rays and collosi you are not in good shape. His micro wasn't perfect and ended up losing what gateway army he did have. Once he loses that it's a really tough situation.

orb is also a Protoss player who occasionally streams and occasionally rages A very cool guy though.

Mr.Bitter needs to learn when it is appropriate to interrupt his caster, it is getting annoying when he interjects while Orb is talking. Also what is up with this guy loving everything Zerg does?

He's a Zerg player ^^ But he's still new at the whole casting thing. Not as good as some of the other casters.

Also please Mr.Bitter, please stop calling games when 5 minutes havent even passed/ 20 minutes ahead. The constant "oh this guy will lose no matter what" is ruining the experience and excitement of who might win. Why is this guy selected for casting >_>

Ugh... terrible game, why didn't Tt1 leave probes or even an extra pylon to fill that hole, runby lost him the game

I can't believe both TL and MLG chose MrBitter as a caster. He is SO AWFUL.

Its much more rare to see a caster calling a game earlier.

I think TT1 did the best he could until the end there. If he kept the immos on the north side so when his FF's funneled the amove hydra roach army ther and he would have obliterated the roaches in that choke and then it would have been his army vs the hydras. I don't know weather he could have won even then but would have been a heck of a lot closer and who knows.
oh well good games all around.
|
Personally, I like these casters. They doing a good job. You should invite them back.
It seemed like kind of an unusual pairing of lesser known casters, but it works for me. Good call whomever invited them.

Game Three Live Report Thread:
1:00- Mr. Bitter wonders why TT1 chose Xel Naga Caverns
1:15- Mr. Bitter wonders why TT1 chose Xel Naga Caverns
1:30- Mr. Bitter calls the game in favor of Zephyr
3:00- Mr. Bitter wonders why TT1 chose Xel Naga Caverns
3:30- Mr. Bitter calls the game in favor of Zephyr
4:00- Mr. Bitter calls the game in favor of Zephyr
But in all seriousness, he should do fewer of these random questionings (and presenting his personal anguish on map selection) and more commentating. A little more enthusiasm wouldn't hurt either
I'm definitely a fan of orb's insights though. His predictions and analysis is pretty good.

If you watch the GSL You get enough of "Uhh...Artosis, it looks like X has this game in the bag!" (5 minutes into a 20 minutes game because of 1 small skirmish). Sure, they're at a disadvantage, but it's much better for viewers if they do the half-full method (can he pull back into this?) than the half-empty method (well gg the rest 15 minutes of this game is just us moaning whether or not he'll gg faster).

Yeah I heard siege mode is pretty good.
|
3 bases and no siege tech?
|
No siege mode at 15:00 in a TvT when he's relying on a superior ground force, is this guy really a pro player?

On July 24 2011 06:58 Itsmedudeman wrote: Air terran? What
Air control is the single most important thing in TvT IMO. I wouldn't be surprised if hack uses the advantage and techs to BC's/mass banshees and shows wasup with air superiority ^^
|
|
I am a renewed Mr. Bitter anti-fan. He is overly critical of a player when no criticism is warranted (e.g. blaming Spades' macro when he is at the same supply as Hack, blaming Spades' decision making in a battle when it is an army trade) and he continues on the same tone for an entire game. That tone is wearing, Bitter!
Granted, I don't know how Spades forgot seige tech.
|
Spades is looking really bad.
Poor transfer to the gold.
He could have easily stopped that bansee if he had build a turrent in the right position and advanced his tanks earlier.
He had about 20 workers on gas at the gold.

Now watch why air superiority is so important

Spades was stuck at 153/153 for a very, very, very long time.

He's just calling a spade a spade.

Spades totally fell apart. Did he forget thors existed? And he literally never made a depot after 153 supply =/

Spades should never have fallen behind in air to begin with against marauder tank.

Spades is sloppy but somehow pulls out the W. His games against lalush were not clean.

Spades also should have done more blue flame harass especially after getting so far behind

He traded equal numbers of tanks as well as hellions for marines/marauders.

I didn't read anything here and I don't like bashing casters but i have to say that I just can't listen to mr.bitter. That's the second time that I hear him cast and it's the second time that the stream isn't running for more then 5 minutes when I hear him cast. When I'm just 1 out of 1000, please everybody ignore that post but if not then don't let him cast again or mr.bitter, in all kindness, stop pointing out mistakes over and over. Casting a tournament is not about showing how much you know about starcraft. YOU ARE NOT THE MOST IMPORTANT GUY WHEN CASTING. When I want to see think about mistakes I watch one of my own replays and don't watch a tournament for my entertainment.

I thought he had several flaws throughout the game which added up to his inevitable loss. Supply blocks, forgetting siege mode, not having air dominance, etc.
Regardless, I hope he wins this next game

Because Terious realised a SCV was going to get into his base, cancelled his infestation pit that just started morphing to throw down a spire where it would get scouted, then cancelled that and built his infestation pit once he'd mopped up the SCV.

Rushing to ultras? Lets see how this will end.

No, he's still spamming multiple turrets at one place - so he still expects mutas, nice.

dat fungal ♥
Hack floating minerals too...

Hack needs to throw down 10 barracks like...now.

Haha I just meant since he was floating 1800 minerals ^^ And he could be dropping and spreading too
But the Zerg totally outplayed the Terran in that game.

that was so sexy just the way the whole game turned out sence the terran got played with that spire fake. that just blew my mind the whole game.
I guess Ghosts would have been the answer at some point

I just dont understand how hack actually thought it. He saw that Terious just cancelled something just moments before the SCV arrived, so he should've recognized it was unlikely that mutas were actually coming and make like 2 turrets(or wait and scan, but personally id rather just build 2 turrets and mule) in his mineral lines. Instead he made I believe 6 :/

Whats nice for Zerg on this map?
Maybe the huge, open middle?
"favourable for terran"
"sorta ok for zerg"
I hate to be one of those guys, but Im jumping on the "Mr Bitter is Biased Bandwagon".

Haha definitely. Also, just because something doesn't leave you "ahead" it doesn't mean it is necessarily all-in. -.-

It depends on the different styles Hellion thor loves the tight chokes while marine tank likes spread out areas. likewise to muta ling vs infestor ling or roach bling sling
|
Well played by Hack there, although if Zephyr had walled his choke with both queens, the hellion harrass would have been far less successful.

As a marine/tank player I have to disagree with this. I like chokes. Seems obvious to me why. I cant imagine any terran player prefering open areas with marine tank. Chokes mean no flanks. Flanks are what Zerg wants against marine/tank.
I know that I really hate crossing a creeped-up Shattered Temple.

I believe most zergs dislike it for the two-base tank/marine push that edges up along your natural cliff which can siege out your whole mineral line.

Let's be honest, it's not like Hack chose that map because he think it looks pretty....

On anything other than close positions, I would say that it is at least balanced. My own personal bias says that Terran has to play risky with drops or something on that map.

Did he really say shakuras is zerg favored in TvZ?
EDIT:
What is he talking about >_<
Even trade nvm bad trade he has no map control but I don't know, hes in a pretty good spot!
Please make up your mind......

He never did a Mass zergling pump so he loses the game. Nydas came out of left field He was doing so well. oh well Game 5 in bo5 YEAH!

BIT BY BIT

This is so weird, and so wrong
This makes no sense, I'm speechless

Mr. Bitter: DON'T ATTACK WITH YOUR SPEEDLINGS YOU'LL LOSE EVERYTHING! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!

Crazy game. Yay for Zephyr! Congratulations on winning it all!

Didn't he start making lings after seeing his overlord get killed by 3 marines?
Those were pretty fast marines no?

defensive All-in wins vs. offensive All-in ... very close though for the swarm!

Well, they both are in the Korean ladder and they do play hundreds of games so there's a good chance they know each others' play styles. Plus maybe the Zerg could've panicked and decided to do an all-in after the overlord scout died with no info.
Of course, I'm speculating so take it with a grain of salt.

Sorry for the mixup, we were informed by a tournament admin that it was Zephyr Prime and that terius was just his account name.
No big deal I hope!

To be fair I think 99% of the reason hack lost that engagement was his poor army positioning. he spread out his entire army in a line along the cliff that allowed a ton of surface area for the lings to surround. If he had balled all the marines up with the scvs in front of the ball I don't think there's any way the lings would have come even close to winning that fight. It really came down to terius choosing an excellent moment to engage when hack was out of position.
|
So Terious won? Hack having a Stork-in-the-OSL-esque run in these TL Opens LLWL.
|
was really nice to see the top 8 made up of half koreans half foreigners.

Someday maybe, someday.

Wish more people would watch these TLOpens, the games are so good. Hack's builds were really good and I'm definitely going to adapt some of his builds into my own style. It's so cool to see how consistent he is in each of these tournaments, says a lot about his skill.

To be fair, I think this teaches us a valuable lesson that it is not a good idea to call things before it actually happens.

I'm so happy tgun did well. I'm absolutely sick of people underestimating him. Here's hoping he destroys the open bracket at MLG.
EDIT: Holy crap, Ciara in the top 16, too. I forgot he even existed. Is this the first time we've even seen him since TSL3?
|
Hack second again? Ah well, at least he won one of them.
|
Poor TT1, once again losing to nydus. I can't even imagine how mad he is.
|
I was refereeing the last game, and what Hack was doing was faking a 1 barrack expansion. However at one point of the game, 1 ling went past the bunker and saw that there was no command center at all.

Another entertaining finals to watch in the TL SC2 Opens. Nice read and defense by Zephyr in the last game. Great casting by MrBitter and Orb, keep up the good work
