Date: Players below Master League: July 16th @ Noon PST (Sign in at Noon, Bracket STARTS at 1pm, please do not wait until 12:59 to get here) Players Master League and Above: Bracket starts at 4PM (4pm SHARP!!!)
Venue: GameClucks @ 18717 76th Ave W, Lynnwood, WA 98037 (425) 775-2240 www.GameClucks.com
Entry Fee: $5 Venue Fee + $10 Event Entry = $15
Prizes: 1st 60%, 2nd 30%, 3rd 10% (or money back, which ever is greater) Cash prizes are for the Master+ Bracket only
Rules: Standard Rules for all phases of the event: Race is chosen BEFORE the Event starts and you play the whole event with that race.
Settings and Map Pool: All Games 1. Category = Melee 2. Mode = 1v1 3. Game Speed = Faster
Maps MLG Metalopolis MLG Shakuras Plateau MLG Shattered Temple MLG Tal’darim Altar MLG Testbug MLG Typhon Peaks MLG Xel’Naga Caverns
Additional Rules and Set Up for AM Pool/Bracket: All players below Master Level are put into this event. If 17+ players we will run Pools dividing everyone up into as equal as possible groups and play Round Robins. How many players advance will be determined by the number of pools and how many players are in the Master+ Bracket. Pool Play will be 2 Games (not best of 3) with scoring as 0-2, 1-1, 2-0 Map Striking will be used to determine 1st Map, with loser of the first game picking the 2nd map. If 16 or less players we will use a Double Elimination Bracket Best 2 out of 3 for the entire bracket. If we run a bracket for AM, we will only run it far enough to get to the Top 8 and not play it out.
Seeding will be determined by League with some randomization.
NOTE: Adjustments to either Pool or Bracket could be made as a Day Of decision based on time, computers, attendance, etc. So the >16, <17 rule is simply a guideline.
Additional Rules and Set Up for the Master+ Bracket: All players of Master League and above will be put into this event. Master+ Players are "encouraged" to show up for the entire event though to help with coaching if possible and/or do commentary and interviews for the Live Stream (plus sponsors will be there earlier in the day not later so get your free NOS during the AM Bracket haha). To be determined on an event by event basis, we will also include the winners of the AM Event in this. Double Elimination Bracket Best 2 out of 3, Grand Finals Best 3 out of 5
Seeding will be based on Top 8 from previous event seeding 1-8, the balance of the Master+ players seeded randomly and then the AM Winners seeded last in order of their win/loss in the AM event as possible.
Map Selection: A default/starter map will be established for each bracket round and used for the 1st Match in a set. Loser of a match picks the next map from the available Map Pool.
Other Rules: Players may not have a stream of the game in the background.
Any sign of cheating may result in a Forfeit of the Game or disqualification from the Event.
No Map may be played more than once in the same Set.
Players who are disqualified prior to the start of a Game will not be allowed to play in the Game. Players who are disqualified during a Game must quit out of the Game.
No Spectators or Observers allowed in game.
Live Stream will be provided at: http://www.justin.tv/edwardstarcraft
Sponsors: Plantronics - We will raffle off 2 or 3 headsets SteelSeries - In talks with them now NOS - They say they are coming this time hah
PEOPLE ARE ENCOURAGED to bring their own Computers. We will have room to set up about 10 PCs for people, in addition to our own 20 Comps (10 of which will be 100% tournament dedicated and the other 10 there for as needed use)
BYOComputer Reserve List: 1: Picnic 2: memcopy 3: Soda 4: 5: 6: 7: 8: 9: 10:
IF YOU WANT TO BRING YOUR OWN PC, still do so. No guarantee that we have room for you to set up beyond the 10 people listed above. But bring it just in case!
We have room for 15ish comps, but I will only reserve the first 10 after that its first come first serve.

Something needs to be done about edwards speakers imo it was really obvious my opponent could hear. edward was like and here are the mutas coming to so and sos base and all of a sudden 5 turrets go up... I won the game so it was fine but still it's a definite problem.
Other than that great tourney I'm loving the am pm bracket set up. And for everyone who isn't diamond or plat I played a silver player in the semi finals of am bracket. He made top 8. You can as well.
My name and code are in my sig add me I'd like to play games with people from the tourney.

i second the notion of fixing edwards speakers. unless u have music playing and the in game sounds up fairly high you can hear the casting.
|
Sign me up for BYOC. And another free case of NOS. Also, yeah, Ed's speakers.
==Edit==
Are there still going to be AM prizes?
|
What's the prize pool usually for this? For the masters and above league.

Edward's Speakers: So Edward and I talked for a while after the event about this. We are going to try and place him where I have the Wii sign on the wall (so in the area that we had no BYOC set up and all the TVs stacked) That way there is some what of a barrier from the GameClucks PC area, however this still exposes the BYOC area to it, nothing we can really do about that... We will work on turning the sound down also
AM prizes - Depends if sponsors give anything up. Likely we wont though, because the plan is run the AM Bracket just far enough to establish who moves on to Pro Bracket, so unless a sponsor gives me something that I can get 8-10 of them and is not so good that it needs to be kept for Pro bracket, then maybe. The other side of this, is I will try and distribute more stuff deeper down the Pro Bracket as well.
3rd Place in pro was $30 last time, a GameCon777 headset is about $35-$40, so maybe 3rd picks Headset or cash, 4th gets what ever 3rd doesnt take, and then maybe the the BackBeat that 3rd got last event goes to 5th or something...
Not sure, all depends on what Sponsors give up and how many people show up.
(will add BYOC ppl above this post in a bit)
|
@MayanSc2 Depends how many show. Usually have 30-35 people showing so cash prize pool is about $300-$350. We have had 48 at the event before also... so almost $500 that time. Plus some swag from sponsors when possible.
So event last weekend, 1st was $160 Cash + GameCon 777 headset + Steel Series QcK pad (so all in all about $220ish in prizes?)
|
Except me to be able to come this time!
|
Maybe we can place Edward in a private closed door studio called the "bathroom".
|
I will be raffling off 2-3 of the Plantronics GameCom777 head sets at this event again.
SteelSeries, I think, is sending some stuff again also.
NOS says they will be ON SITE this time!!

Okay actually gonna make it this time for BYOC. I'm platinum so I'll be in the AM pool/bracket. Is there a maximum on monitor size (I think mine is 26") or should I leave that at home?

I hate to say this, because I'd love for a local LAN event to become successful. But for someone who is unable to bring my own computer (I don't have a laptop and it's hardly worth my while to lug 60 pounds of computer equipment to a 5 hour LAN) I don't see a point to returning to the Gameclucks venue. Until the computers provided are able to adequately run SC2 on _LOW_ graphical settings I won't be supporting this venue through attendance.
Bottom line: don't host a PC game tournament if the computers provided are not able to run the game being played at a stable frame rate. The last time I attended I set all settings to the lowest possible and was still getting enough lag where it was extremely distracting.

I've never had a problem with the gameclucks computers and no one else has either... i was playing on medium last event and the computer i was on ran just fine.

I agree with you 100% and have no idea what autopilot is talking about.

Anyways i noticed the BYOC list hasnt been updating, just making sure im on there since i was like one of first ones to post for it -_-
|
Sounds fun! I'll be coming this this event.
|
|
Does anyone know if we will be seeing rangeD here?
|
BYOC - I have been insanely busy last few days. I will try and update it, but so far every one that has said they are BYOCing is good to go. We have space for 15ish BYOCs.
@autopilot - wtf?? hah There is only 1 row of comps that are "sub par" and they are significantly better then Blizzards reqs for SC2, but I think they are a little on the slow side. The other 15 are far more then is needed. So not sure what the issue was or what comp it was on (which would help to know if we have a vid card going bad or something.. but with out specifics nothing I can do right now).
@MaxPro - LOL You better show up this time and play!

We really are going to be there! See you all Saturday and make sure you try the Charged Citrus and the Loaded Cherry Flavors if you haven't already done so!
Thanks!
|
Are spectators allowed (Not in game, just standing around) Just want to watch and feel out the enviroment, ya know? ;D I dont feel that my high gold skill has what it takes atm. hehe
|
^ yes spectators are allowed and encouraged! :D
I'm sad that I will not be attending this one.. it'll be the first one I missed. Good luck to everyone! I'll be watching from home and studying school shit.. fml.
|
if you are a gold player you might as well play in the qualifying bracket that starts at noon. its only for players bronze-diamond and we usually have several silver players in it.

AWESOME!
Spectators - Yeah def show up!! And like Rick said its worth playing in the Qual Bracket to get some games in with people in the same skill level.
|
Does the guy who runs the streaming bother to show up for scrub pool play? It'd be nice for low-level players to get a chance to get their games on the Internets...
|
|
If the list isn't too full yet, i'd like to bring my own PC. (I'll bring it just incase) See you all saturday!
|
what time have the tournaments ended in the past? I'm considering coming from Oregon if it's not too late
|
On July 15 2011 06:41 Frogis wrote: what time have the tournaments ended in the past? I'm considering coming from Oregon if it's not too late
I've missed all the recent ones, so maybe it's been different lately but at the first one the finals didn't end until after midnight.
|
I think they've said that they have space for 15 BYOCs (but they only reserve 10 for exactly RaNGeD's situation), so you can work it out from the number of BYOC requests in the thread whether or not there will be space (Hint: I'm pretty sure you're okay).

I've been preparing a build for a month now to specifically snipe Kawwia's TvT...watch out :p

We will be starting the Masters++ Bracket AT 4 (FOUR) PM w/o Fail!!!
We have to get it started on time as MLG is having us do a Halo Reach 4v4 on Saturday night, so we will have to move some BYOC ppl at like 7:30ish into spot to replace out comps and such. Its going to be a packed house.
|
Hey, I'll be unable to come until 3 or 4 tomorrow becuase of stuff I need to take care of in Bellevue. I'll see you there!

Why do you have seattle tag when it's in lynwood?

You could say anyone around here would know it, but some people drive from pretty far for LANs... It's the biggest city around here and unambiguously identifies the area where the LAN is.

I'd like to reserve a BYOC spot if there is room, thanks. ID: Jogoman

Hi guys,
I know this is super short notice but i just realised the only way to get there by Public Transport leaves you a 2.6 mile gap between the last bus stop and the venue.
I was wondering if anybody was able to pick me up from there?
I'm actually from Australia and have no other means of getting there =(
Please PM me if you're able to help
Thanks you!
