Okay we're going to start cracking down on people bashing players for no reason. You don't have to like every player, but at least show some respect. (as of page 402)

Stop being ignorant lol, WC3 was huge in Europe. Much much bigger than any other rts has ever been except maybe SC2 now playerwise, WC3 still had way more leagues and tournaments than SC2 has now in Europe.

It still amazes me how much people underestimate how big wc3 was.

Thanks for the updates, Tyler maybe starting to eat his words about ex WC3 players now .

Aren't all those up and coming chinese players former WC3 pros as well?

yeah but that's because wc3 was huge in china

Is still is. wc3 was the most active rts game in EU as well

I highly doubt that.

It's ironic - most of the very high level WC3 pros - Grubby, Lyn, etc - are not doing all that great. Many of the lesser known WC3 players are doing amazing.

Like others have said, it really doesn't matter too much what game you played before SC2.

To be fair Grubbys pretty dam good considering how long ago he switched.

Agreed, Grubby joined into sc2 waay after everyone else and he is doing amazing in the euro tourney scene, give it a little more time and grubby should be dominating everywhere else (at least i hope so )

if you ever listen to SOTG, on 1 SOTG idrA said that this is actualy BS, grubby was one of the first people who got to play beta, and was playing it for a long time.

No, because Grubby was still deep in the WC3 scene at the time, he didn't begin playing SC2 until late Jan.

Yep.

Not true, I remember back in the beta reading about how Grubby had started playing SC2. He was still very deep in the WC3 scene but he was still playing SC2. He played more and more until he decided to switch full time in late Jan.

Idra and Naniwa the only ones to take a series off a GSL Korean.

well considering how moon currently isn't in code a or s, that makes idra the only one to beat a GSL korean.

Lets just wait and see what happens when the real deal starts, for example Koreans beating Gretorp is hardly a feat given how much effort Gretorp puts in the game (naturally he has his priorities at NASL)

Both of you are probably correct in the sense that Grubby probably had access to the Beta but there is a difference between playing a game for fun and playing a game to become a pro at it. Grubby probably only way training to be a pro at the game since late lan Jan.

So far only Idra could take a game off one of the Koreans... (Moon doesn't really count, hes not even A-class) And I don't want to soften up his result, but obviously, MC wasn't really in this games... He was still excited from all the fans etc. so he wasn't focussed enough.

yeah the koreans are on a different level for sure. just take a look at this game.

well I think there are some nonkoreans who can compete

what comes to mind is white-ra, dimaga, naniwa, huk, maybe jinro or kas, thorzain, happy, idra, sen, maybe some chinese guys... prolly some others im not thinking of. and then there are some others who can win but only if they are really on their game. im thinking like sheth or kiwikaki level.

I am really so interested to see how idra or naniwa or thorzain can do vs these koreans. my personal pick for this tournament is idra.

I really have to disagree with you. These guys could beat some Korean players, but MC/July/MMA/Losira really are amongst the top10 korean players... In a bo5, I think no one of them would lose against a foreigner.
