I think jinro and huk will try for the seoul qualifiers?
Actually now I'm not sure, there might be a scheduling conflict with another tourney :/

Are all the games going to be played on 3D monitors?
EDIT: And shouldn't Taeja just be called Taeja now that he's in SlayerS?
|
good luck
Surprised Rain made it through though xD

yah he should just be called Taeja i guess but he uses NEXtaeja a ridiculous amount and hangs out at NEX channel pretty much daily

so there would be some invitees ? 6 qualifiers mean 12 spots while it states 16 participants
|
Go go Huk and Jinro. Bring back a 55" 3D TV back to the oGs house. Everyone will love you even more.

I wonder if there will be english casters for this XD

DongRaeGu Hwaiting!!! This will be interesting to say the least :D

Genius and MMA won the Incheon's qualifiers
|
Wow, some nice names up there. Rooting for DRG! :D
|
DRG, Youngwha and MMA woot! Thanks for the thread bunnies :D
|
Amazing, will there be any Streams, Vods or replays avaiable?
|
Supernova and MarineKingPrime won Seoul's qualifiers 6/04

marineking is shown as protoss...?

Seoul Day 2, scfou and TSL.Smart (Pooh) advances

Cool looking forward to this.

Maybe MKP can win something finally :D
|
Hey b_unnies, how come there are only 14 players qualified? Is there another upcoming qualifier?
|
|
Nice player line-up. NEXTaeja, DongRaeGu, MMA, sCfOu, cant wait to see them.
|
No, this thread doesn't speak the truth. There is no other SC2 tournament in Korea except the GSL. So, LG Cinema3d Starcraft II 3D Special League doesn't exist.
|
I'm a little confused. I count that there are 14 players, but it says that there are 16 players total. Who else is in this tournament?
|
Nice, Genius and DRG in the final 16!
Also, are there any Vods or a way to read the results from the qualifier matches?

1. b_unnies gets regular contact with Korean professionals (see the Message from Korea series of interviews) so he would know. 2. Jinro has already confirmed this. 3. An interview with YongHwa has also confirmed it. 4. There have been non-GSL tournaments held in Korea before: See Gainward SC2 tournament and Danawa Ygosu Invitational.

On June 09 2011 13:59 CosmicSpiral wrote: How much is 10,000,000 won?
Won to Dollar is roughly similar to 1000:1. So 10,000,000 won will equal to 10,000$ US.

It was pretty damn hard trying to find out the last 2 winners since i didnt know how to explain to korean what World IT Show is when i didnt even know what it was myself. but im pretty sure that the remaining winners are NEXBuja (who didnt even a TLPD entry apparently) and Sage (some people said to me that Sage is Dosirak, i know who dosirak is but i dont know if sage and dosirak are the same)

also MMA and DRG
this is really exciting i hope it will be broadcasted

From what ZeNEX coach told me, Buja isnt a ZeNEX progamer nor a sc2 progamer. he's just a regular NEX clan member (ZeNEX = team, NEX=clan, but the coach runs both ZeNEX and NEX). Apparently he got a gold medal in a WCG mobile game

wait, so he got a spot in this tournament because he won that mobile game or is he a SC2 prodigy who qualified and doesn't even play the game at all??

The reason MKP isn't going to dreamhack is because he's going to support his teammate Polt in helping him beat MMA. At least that is what I've understood and this tournament being more of an extra.

Whoa imagine if MMA actually made the finals. He'd have to play the finals of the LG tournament, and then go straight into the GSL. That would have been nuts. I'm not saying he threw his match, but I'm guessing that he didn't prepare like crazy for this tournament.

Hrm, he said this in his post-semifinal interview though:
I will practice for the LG special league first, then practice my basics. I believe I can still improve on my fundamentals.
I don't think he was taking it particularly lightly or anything, he's certainly had plenty of TvT practice lately xD

why is mkp Protoss and why is he listed as Pooh in the Results? ( at first post at least )

On June 14 2011 21:15 MyLastSerenade wrote: why is mkp Protoss and why is he listed as Pooh in the Results? ( at first post at least ) The TLPD-ize function has its quirks which links MKP to his BW profile (where he played Protoss). It's also why Genius is listed as Terran (he was a Terran in BW) in the OP.
Pooh = Smart = JYP. The GSTL officially calls him as JYP though.

Howdy! We're at the studio again today and while it's difficult for us to ghetto-stream the matches off the TV (displayed in 3D, just comes across blurry) we'll do our best to bring you whatever content we can. Follow @CyberSportsNet for match updates and possible live-stream alerts. :D

You don't feel truly nerdy till you've watched a livestream of a big screen recording from a phone being shot through 3d glasses <3
SuperNova vs Yonghwa on Bel'shir beach, bio timing into Yonghwa's nat but Yonghwa holds, Nova only now getting his own nat up but has a lot of rax in his main, not sure if the nat was denied earlier?
Youghwa with Colossus on the way, Nova tries another bio push but gets shut down.
Yonghwa pushing out with 2 Colossus + thermal lance now, Nova has only just got his starport down.
Seltzer's worried for Nova, "Oh shit run away!". There's nowhere to run though and Younghwa steamrolls into his nat and crushes everything in a blaze of laserpowered glory
|
stream is up doesnt look too bad dont mind the shaking as Seltzer is literally standing there holding the phone! Tell ur friends to tune in!

SuperNova vs Yonghwa, cross pos on Meta.
Fast conc shells from Nova for a marauder poke, feels funny seeing this since it's gone out of fashion lately. Takes his CC at the nat. Younghwa doing a 1gate expo, very heavy on sentries so far.
Younghwa up to 3gates and teching to Colossus, Nova with a very standard bio set up (tech tech reactor) and his factory just completing.
Timing from Nova, but Yonghwa holds it pretty comfortably with some good forcefields. Upgrades about even. Thermal lance done and Charge on the way for Yonghwa, dropping several more gates too.
Nova building a third and at the same time pushing out to check for Yonghwa's. A minor engagement and Yonghwa roasts a few units thanks to some well placed forcefields. He's going Templar since Nova has already got a good few vikings out, but Nova is well up to speed and already has a ghost academy built.
5 Colossus + Templar = scary, Yonghwa's turn to look to deny a third while taking his own. Nova positions to block it, Yonghwa walking around to the nat now, big engagement and SCV's have to be pulled but Nova does hold it off. Both have established thirds now, Yonghwa has resumed Colossus production and I'm not sure if Nova has continued with his vikings.
Big drop in the main snipes the twilight council, forge, and robo bay! Nova also wants to push with his main army at the third but Yonghwa is wise to that and prevents that at least.
Huge bioball for Nova, huge deathball for Yonghwa. Nova was making more vikings, and has +1 air on the way. Yonghwa getting blink + DT's.
DT harass forcing Nova to return to defend himself, Nova decides to establish himself at the Gold while preparing a drop at the third of Yonghwa. Drop snipes the third! Yonghwa doesn't even have a fourth on the way (though that's more a result of a slow rate of expansion than anything else)
BIG max engagement at Nova's gold, but Younghwa's positioning isn't as good as Nova's and he's attacking near a PF. It's still a pretty even trade but Nova's eco is so much better that he's almost certainly going to be able to macro up a solid lead after this.
I think there's about a 30 supply lead for Nova, hard to see numbers though xD I can count that Yonghwa is on 4 bases to Nova's 5 though. Yonghwa fends off a drop at his fourth.
Another huge engagement though I have no clue what's going on, just a giant ball of psionic death xD Looks like Yonghwa came out ahead and he's taking his gold.
Nova with a drop that takes out Yonghwa's fourth but Yonghwa's decided not to defend and takes the opportunity to roll forwards across the map into Nova's map cleaning up all the other troops on the way. With nothing left to defend back at home and his expo's + production under huge amounts of fire Nova gg's
2-0 Yonghwa.

DRG vs Taeja game 1 on Bel'shir Beach:
Hatch first from DRG, interesting opening from Taeja, he's going speed reaper + hellions!
DRG droned pretty well through the early harass, getting some roaches now. Oh my it's speed reaper/hellion/medivac at the moment xD
Taeja making both an expansion and a fast third OC, as well as switching to siege tech. DRG's third is on the way and he's exerting a lot of map presence with his speedling/roach combo. Viking from Taeja clearing out overlords.
Spire coming from DRG, Taeja has a perfectly timed armory down though if he wants to go into Thors. Baneling nest for DRG, it's a pretty stabled midgame right now, neither played really doing too much though DRG is starting up some muta harass.
The obs takes a moment to showcase how sexy the flying units look in 3d.
Taeja moving out on the map a bit, poking around the centre and clearing rocks at his gold. DRG immediately runs a speedling/muta counter into his nat and kills a few scv's + forces Taeja to retreat.
A LOT of mutas out for DRG, he cleans up Taeja's attempt to expand at the gold but a marine counter kills DRG's third.
I had to afk a mo and missed how they got there, but DRG's army is countering around Taeja's nat while Taeja has sieged DRG's. Taeja's push is pretty sick but DRG looks like he's held it and has his gold running now too while I don't think Taeja's managed to secure a third yet.
Taeja crawling tanks towards the gold but he gets shut down again, he tries desperately to take his own gold again but DRG is all over it with mutas and shuts that down too.
Taeja GG's out and DRG leads 1-0

DRG vs Taeja game 2 on Meta.
Taeja spawns at 2, DRG spawns at 8. Hatch first again from DRG while Taeja is again opening with a reaper.
Oh this time it's going to be a reaper expand with an attempted rush thrown in, first reaper actually gets quite a bit done.
3rax and a port on the way for Taeja, reactor on factory so it looks like some early bio pressure/drops.
DRG with a much earlier baneling nest than last game, looks like he's going for the bust!
Huge amounts of damage done at the nat but he doesn't quite bust into the main on first try, he backs out to regroup and breaks the wall but gets cleaned out without too many casualties actually inside the main for Taeja.
DRG going lair + macro hatch on 2 bases, trying to build a spire but Taeja's counter push has sieged below his main and he's elevatoring units up. It's held off and DRG is trying to take a third, but no sooner is it done than Taeja is over there trying to kill it off. More units in DRG's main doing damage too!
Taeja with a big push across the map and DRG misses it, having to fall back from almost the other side of the map to defend. He pulls drones but does hold, meanwhile Taeja has a third CC complete in his base. DRG is doing a good job with his mutas but he's behind in supply and only level in economy.
Mutas being a huge nuisance in Taeja's main, Taeja decides fuck it I'll go kill him. It looks bad for DRG but he flanks from three sides and brings his mutas back at the last moment and does clean up the attack.
Taeja pushing out again with another sizable army and DRG just types out.

DRG vs Taeja game 3 on Terminus.
DRG spawns at 6 while Taeja spawns at 12.
Reaper expand vs hatch first, who'd have thought it =p Fast 2nd gas from Taeja after his CC is interesting. Going for very fast siege mode after expand. DRG for his part has thrown down a fairly fast baneling nest.
Taeja with yet another fast third OC in base. Third down for DRG, lots of rax on the way for Taeja, looks like he wants Stim + Shields side by side., followed by +1 infantry weapons. Spire + baneling speed on the way for DRG, as well as what looks to be melee carapace 1.
Awesome creep spread from DRG, he's building another hatch but because he's red I can't see on the creep whether it's a fourth or a macro one till the obs shows =p DRG attempting to start up Muta harass but Taeja's advance positioning is amazing, with marines flanked by 2 turrets sending DRG scurrying home wounded.
Thors out for Taeja and a fourth CC on the way, infestors and pathogen glands almost done for DRG and he's about to have a Hive up. His creep covers the whole cente of the map and is almost encroaching on the choke to Taeja's base.
Muta/Ling/Bane/Infestor with SOOO many banelings, Taeja trying to take back at least some map control with good tank positioning. Greater spire almost done for DRG though.
Huge attack from DRG, Taeja's positioning is good and while he loses a lot it's a decent trade. He pushes out but is stopped short by a tidal wave of lings. Broodlords out for DRG but he also has an Ultralisk cavern.
No vikings to handle the Broodlords yet and they are forcing Taeja all the way back, Taeja's fourth gets taken out and he's in full retreat. He does have a drop taking out one of DRG's hidden side bases. DRG crashing into the nat with lings, and the march of the ultralisks is about to commence. Taeja killed DRG's spawning pool with a drop, he's doing a good job of hanging on. Trying to reestablish his fourth now.
And heeeeereee come the Ultralisks, absolutely crushing Taeja's forces as they careen into the natural. Taeja trying to drop another of DRG's bases and lands vikings at yet another but he's now over 100 supply behind (thanks Rachel for the zoom =p). DRG is tearing everything apart, workers, army, and production alike.
Taeja GG's, DRG takes the series 2-1, and the phone's battery never died!

Thanks for the stream CSN + Rachel!

I hope players like dongraegu, Yonghwa or Leenock make into the next gsl. I have never seen Sage or Smart but after beating MKP and MMA they certainly look promising.

DRG won first (?) match convincingly. Yongwha played an 1base blinkstalker rush, blunk up into the main of DRG, warped in on the highground and forcefielded it quite good until he lost the sentries - afterwards he tried to take a 2nd base, but DRG intelligently stayed on 2 base, getting upgrades (ovidrop[vs blinkstalkers?oo], roachspeed, 2+melee), as he scouted yongwha repeatedly, smelling a fake, and just kept building roach/ling. Yongwha tried a last attack - roaches in front, stalkers which are hurt blink back but get caught by lings - gg.
2nd Map ist Crossfire. DRG Bottom, Yongwha Top.

holy crap, for the fact that the camera is so far away from the screen AND it's with the unavoidable ghosting from the second 3D-enabling image in there, the quality is actually outstanding. Better than GOM SQ lol

ovi drop was a mistake imo, but game was already won after Yong was on 1 base after 12 min still

DRG takes gas before pool, whereas yongwha opens standard 12gates 13 gas. DRG gets a drone in yongwhas base and scouts fast 2nd gas. Yongwha builds a stalker, followed by a sentry, and building a pylon in DRGs natural, blocking an expo, who goes for a standarf speedlingexpand

DRG (again) gets fast 1+ melee, building 3 spinecrawlers in his natural, and getting a raochwarren Yongwha 3gatexpands, builds a forge at his natural - everything pretty standard..or not, as I have not seen the stargate he built. 1 Vray and 2phoenix begin to harass, get a queen. To sum up - DRG had a plan (in both games it seems) to get fast +2 banelingdrops, while defending with roaches and hydras, Yongwha 3gate expanded into stargate, into blink 7(?) gate with +1 atk, hitting a timing right before banelingdrop finished and killing DRG, who never took a thrid base.

JYP going blinkstalkers all game long vs banelingdrop/roach of DRG, who never seems to take a third base. DRG looked quite clueless, infestors came way too late.

You cant take a 3rd base against 7 gate blink stalker + sentry, you just get force fielded off and the hatch sniped

DRG does a very successful roach ling timing against the 3 gate expand, kills the nexus and will now go for the finishing blow with roach hydra

JYP going mass stalkers with early blink again.. 2 base toss vs 3 base zerg
|
DRG stalling it out with mass ling, while building some hydras also and setting up spine defense, push delayed for a really long time
FF's hold lings at bay in the main engagement but hydras tear a lot apart, JYP backs off and goes to dark shrine. DRG adding roaches. DRG significantly ahead after great defensive play.

interesting to see what these KRs go for when the spotlight's not on them. Every friggin PvZ is expand into 7 gate blink stalker and then expand at 15 to 20 minutes.
Boring to watch and makes for really shit games but I guess the KRs do what's most effective.

I don't know... it kinda seems that you really need to put pressure on the Zerg while on 2 base or else they'll just outmacro and outmaneuver your less mobile army.

Thats right but its no reason for going 2 Base Semiallin (6-7 Gate Blinkstalker for 20 Minutes on 2 Bases is Allin imho). Poking with Blinkstalkers while get a third up early is very good I guess. You don't have to kill the zerg and it is almost impossible to catch you offguard because of blink and FF.

I'm not talking about the validity of the build, but those were very all-innish builds. You could see they knew the transitions but they constantly overmade units and tried to end the game. Colossus either did not come out or when they were already dead.
Really disappointing to see them trying to pull this crap off. You'd never see MC do this kind of stuff because he has a much better understanding of the matchup and the game in general.

Couldnt really watch the game, but nice to see the sc2 dong advancing:p. He seemed extremely skilled in that replay that was released of his.

I hope DRG gets into gsl soon D:

DongRaeGu vs sC is a great final.
Thx CSN for the "ghetto" stream. :p
|
DRG : Talk about a guy not overhyped at all! what a beast! I hope he will qualifiy in code A.
Edit: We need more love for CSN because they are doing a great job to link foreigner and Korean community.

Thanks CSN for the ghetto stream.
|
HYPE CSN! Had forgotten about. :p
Did anyone knows, when the Finals will start (KST)? 2 hours before GSL Finals on the same stream or what is the plan? Thanks in before.
|
uh? stream quality is way better than I expected.
CSN // are you gonna stream code-a qualifier?

Thank-you so much for the stream & VODs. I can't imagine how much of a pain it must've been to hold the camera up the entire time.

We're up to the finals now, they'll be played on Saturday at some point before the GSL finals. I'd presume far enough ahead that they can swap in/swap out players/set up and anything else since while it's at the same venue I don't believe it's directly associated with GOM.
Finals will be sC vs DRG.
sC beat Gaebyul 2-0, Rain 2-0, Sage 2-0. DRG beat Taeja 2-1, Yonghwa 2-1, JYP 2-1.
Full 16man bracket: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/LG_Cinema_3D_Special_League#Results
(each player in it got top 2 at a regional qualifier)

I don't know what you're talking about. I don't play terran. I'm also in the DRG Fanclub. :D

DRG will crush sC 3-2. That's about as close as a Zerg can crush a Korean Terran lmao

GOMTV Tweets:
"The Final of ST is right around the corner!! FYI we will broadcast sCfOu VS MVP_DRG as event match(Bo. 5) before the finals #GSL #SC2Tag"
Probably means we'll be seeing two finals tomorrow. Special League finals: DRG vs sC followed by the Super Tournament finals: MMA vs Polt.
Btw, I really hope his ID isn't changed to DRG. DongRaeGu is a much cooler ID.

I'll be disappointed if the LG 3D finals are better than the Super Tourney finals.
sC, killer vs Zerg! DRG, killer vs Terran!
Should be epic games~ Too bad I might miss it because of exams D:
Going to have to rush home :p

My guess is they'll push the ST Finals back and play the Special League finals as an undercard match.

Special League finals at 06:10 GMT (+00:00) (15:10 KST), Super Tournament finals scheduled for 07:30 GMT (+00:00) (16:30 KST) (basically directly afterwards). TL calendar schedule for the ST finals entry is 06:10 GMT (+00:00) (15:10 KST).

I think he may be talking about DRG's "My macro is so boss I'll dump it all into banelings and keep crashing them at whatever shit until I win" mindset.
It pisses me off slightly as well, but not as much as it entertains me every time. :D

Are there any VODS available?

So I looked at GomTv and I'm a bit confused. Will this match be streamed or not? I don't see anything there about it being streamed?

LG 3D finals should be starting at the time that the TL calendar has listed for the ST Finals, in 2h 30min, with the ST finals following right after.
