Well, I'm pretty sure MC knew Ret's only chance was to Nydus in, but somehow he was really slow to react :S

Probably. I doubt MC's girlfriend helps him plan for tournaments.
Boxer's girlfriend watches replays of his upcoming opponents and tells him their tendencies. That's a good progamer girlfriend.

He probably just didn't notice it quickly, sure he had a pylon there but unless you are looking at it its just a red dot on the minimap that you expect to see anyway since there is an overlord.
I don't think he'd be expecting Ret to drop a Nydus in sight of his pylon either.

C'mon MC, Kraytos isn't that greedy.
Even 4/6-gate is risky in the sense that if your opponent is prepared for it they can defend it. Zerg in particular has a nice burrow timing that counters it, which Idra demonstrated against Huk in the MLG, I think.
MC is probably trying to switch it up because otherwise he becomes too predictable, but he just can't resist taking the big risks in the builds he does.

Chill it's fine :p I don't see why everyone wants starcraft to be super "professional". I enjoyed the casting today it was pretty funny ^.^ The personality and humor of starcraft casters are what I enjoy most about them.

I think it has something to do with the fact that he heard and read all of the comments that were directed towards him by critics and haters, and by hearing those he's trying new things out to prove those people wrong. Unfortunately, tournament play isn't exactly the right stage to practice and try new things out, and I think MC just did those builds without practicing them on ladder or in customs.

Well, yeah. But GSL notwithstanding if MC doesn't win every tournament he enters I don't think it means that much. I'm a fan of MC but there are other great players out there. I don't get the shock when guys like him lose.
I mean, it's not like he's out of NASL now.

Either that, or he's been completely figured out and hasn't adopted a new style yet. Either way, Ret played well and took his openings. He's not slumping all that hard, even the best player loses games now and then. Compared to the other games of his from today(he was broadcast in 2 other series of high high level play) it felt like he just didn't take this one seriously at all... NOBODY has stopped his aggressive gateway play in PvZ yet, I figure if he really cared about the games he would just do it. Saying 'not to take anything away from Ret' in my post would be like saying 'no offense' before a racist remark, I guess I am discrediting Ret's win in a sense... but from Rets perspective who gives a shit he has been needing a win since Assembly so he probably doesn't care how it came, win = confidence and he needed some. Saying that Ret won because MC didn't care isn't much better than saying he won because MC is slumping tbh..
First, I did address that in my post. Second, even if he isn't deploying his tried and true unstoppable 4/6gates in this PvZ, beating MC's anything is an accomplishment(people bitch about his cannon rushing all the time), so it's not like I'm saying he threw the match and gave Ret free wins; Ret still 2-0'd a fantastic player who may or may not have been taking it as seriously as he .. should have?(that's a lot of money at the end of the rainbow to be digging an early hole in group play).
I still stick to my post though, I just don't see how against a zerg that time and time again has shown EXTREME weakness to early game pressure, if he really felt the need to win he doesn't just 3 gate expand->6 gate, or 4gate.

C'mon MC, Kraytos isn't that greedy.
Maybe he just wants to be a more varied player. He already knows his timing attacks/aggression are great so it could be he wants to work on the defensive aspect of his play. Or maybe he knows Blizzard will nerf his build if he continues to use it to win everytime .
In the long run, it's good for him to have a variety of builds.

Lol people thinking MC is slumping. It's not like he just + Show Spoiler +won copenhagen by beating Morrow 3-1 and Kas 4-0 today. MC used a bad build in game 1 and was slow to react in game 2. When he starts losing games due to being out-micro'd, then you can start calling slump.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the issue with the game sounds would be from, but inc's mic has a compressor that sounds like it's set way too aggressively. Basically, when he yells the compressor is making him extremely quiet, so we're actually hearing his voice mostly through gretorp's, which is why it has that huge echo. You're hearing the room. But they have a pro coming in, I'm sure he'll work his magic and all will be right with the world.
