NASL staff, turn on the IPL and take notes. The IPL is also backed by News Corp, do some research if you don't know who they are (Fox, Fox News, etc)...NASL doesn't have the financial backing that IPL does, but if we support them, they can. Yeah, but you realize that simply saying they are owned by a large corporation doesn't mean that much. If you've seen the statements and posts from IGN, it's largely a team of 5-6 people with a number of volunteers. Additionally, yeah they have access to other departments but it's hardly a given that their production quality should be as incredible as it is. You don't know how involved Fox is in this at all, I doubt anyone outside of IGN actually had a budget placed on this and anyone at Fox really knows what the fuck the IPL is. All we know is what's been said, they have a team of 5-6 guys, some volunteers and get some help and overview from other departments at IGN but nothing major. Does the TSL also have a news corporation behind them? I dunno, man... but it keeps me up at night. Edit: Want to point out that I'm not really ragging on the NASL, just thought that this statement was kind of silly since numerous leagues in the past have been able to maintain solid production quality. I wasn't implying to do research on what their budget is, I was saying to check out who they're backed by. The difference I'm inferring is that IGN had a budget that they could fight for...NASL is starting from scratch with what they could put together on their own.
In fairness we have no idea what the budget of NASL is, but I'm fairly certain that the IPL has more staff.

I believe somewhere in this thread TB addressed this type of comment. He said something along the lines... IGN didn't just constantly throw money at the project and expect a good product... but the that people working on IPL are very talented. Think about it. How much money does it take for someone to simply NOT include things like when Gretorp said Ret played terribly after he thought the mic was off. Does that really take more money to fix... or does it just require someone to be more aware? What about when they put the games out of order which ended up spoiling one of the other series? Again... does that require more money, or do they just need to pay more attention and edit things properly? I am not saying fixing all the small things would bring the NASL up to par with the IPL but at the same time they wouldn't be blown out of the water by them.
Better people cost money, is my point.

Personally I find that NASL and IGN both bring something different to the table. Afaik IGN does not have post game analysis and "studio talk". I for one love InControl and Gretorp's briefings/debriefings. Also IGN is running a tournament setup, while NASL is a constantly ongoing league. Support them both please.

I'm having lag again. I really try to be supportive and having patience with it until they improve, but they are puting it so fucking difficult.

Trying to watch the EU stream and its just frozen and won't restart for me. Anyone else having this problem?

Yes please...it's rare that things are going to be perfect, but when they do go perfectly, it's not necessary to be dicks to those whom it isn't working perfectly for. At least they're doing something to promote the things we love, right?

The way I see it, IGN brings great A/V but lackluster content and NASL brings great games and commentary but an unstable stream / bad audio. I foresee one of those two things being fixed in the future.

The infastruction IGN provides is a huge boost to IGN Pro League that the NASL just didn't have. IGN already had the equipment to compile/edit videos before they decided to start the league. NASL did not and they have to build everything from the ground up.
Also, from what I have seen the IGN pro league is just a series of VOD created by casters that already do their own recording. So IGN basicly had Total Bisket, DJ Wheat and the rest record some VOD, send them in and then edited them with high quality transitions.
The NASL is recording all of their videos live, while watching the games live. That is a much harder thing to do and there are going to be more bumps along the road. And they make around 20-25 hours of content a week, which is insane.

The production crew on IGN is wellplayed.org; they're all volunteers, none of whom have a professional background in the field, and their production efforts for this were done in their spare time.

On the actual subject of the NASL, were the only recommended games from the day really from the Cruncher vs Incontrol series?

Well, color me wrong
The Cruncher v Incontrol was the best series, imo...Game 3 especially after game 2's attempts...I did like the white-ra/sjow series too.
|
Sjow finding out why tanks are bad against colossi; you gotta siege tanks. You don't gotta siege colossi.
|
Sjow needs less siege tanks here and more MM.
|
Audio is pretty rubbish. Otherwise stream is actually great. Now let's hope there's no awful editing mistakes and it'll be a good day for NASL ^_-

I agree. Incontrol and gretorp casting is seriously being underrated. They bring so much just from their skill and experience. Considering NASL is showing great games with superb casting I'm willing to overlook the technical difficulties for now.

Just a question have nasl said anything specific about stopping this constant frame skipping/black screens?
On a more positive note i really do enjoy the nasl casters each brings a nice input to each game with their expertise or just good casting skills.

Warp Prisms: Underutilised.

Nice play by White-Ra! Really using his Colossus well.
