Yes it is! Each month will have qualifiers up until the day before the grand finals. On that day a last minute tourn will be held for the final spots with the big $$ tourn being on the next day. Just make sure you register to the league forums here, or your registration will not count. Aside from the tournaments, I want to get everyone in the New England community together and really keep it thriving.

Time to start practicing

Looking forward to attending this.

I was watching Ryan's Stream not too long ago, and this guy could prolly beat me using his non-dominant hand and his monitor off...

Either way. I'll represent the "too old for gaming, but not too old to quit" crew.

Not quite, but join the forums for the league because we'll be posting tourneys and events for the lower levels as well (with prizes). Also, if you are in or close to Maine, CCG is having a bronze/silver tourney on Dec 31.

-edit-
Also, it's a great event to just watch live and get to know the community. hell, you may even make a new buddy that will help you make it into high diamond by training with you.

I'm a 1700 Gold... and I'm still entering... all you need to do is play smart.

In fact. I've beaten a few diamond-rated players based on the fact that I was completely underestimated by them.

this is a strategy game, everyone starts with 6 workers, and 1 base. (and an OL for you zergies. lol) what you do after that, is up to you.

Frankly, if you're not in diamond and you don't join this because you think you won't win first place, your priorities are in the wrong order.

I mean, I'm in diamond and I'm going more to troll Drogith IRL. It's so much more fun IRL.

Actually, quite the opposite. What good does it do if you don't come? Don't go to a LAN with the goal of winning first unless you're already a semi professional or a professional player. Just come and have fun. ;D

Do you guys plan to host qualifiers throughout New England or is this gonna be strictly Maine?

Also what's with the iCCup maps?

I feel the same way about you, hp, ajtls, MyLife, and sometimes DamnCats because I know he wants revenge, and eventually he'll realize he's bad at SC2 and he'll just jump me in the parking lot before a tournament and break my wrists so I can't play, but if I fight back he'll scream rape and act like the 12 year old he looks like. So I just can't win. (JAY KAY )

Seriously though, I really cannot stress this enough: Don't choose not to come solely because you're not in diamond league, or whatever. If you want to come and can make it, just come and play.

So what if you get knocked out after you first couple of matches? Ask one of the better players if they can give you some tips or could watch the replays with you. Or if we're all busy, just go make fun of Drogith. While he's streaming.

The qualifiers will be throughout New England in 3 of the 4 LAN centers I know of. Season 2 (looks to start in June) will use all 4. The final 2 day tournament will rotate locations as well.

I picked the iCCup maps to spice things up a bit as well. They are different than what everyone has been practicing on with the ladder. So it will be like starting fresh for everyone. Plus, iCCup maps tend to be more balanced than the Blizzard ones, but that is not always the case.

Ya, the first time I went to the LANs out in New England, I didnt go to win. I was just there to have fun with fellow sc2 nerds. It was a blast, I had so much fun that I made the 4 hour drive again a month later and Im gonna make it again next month :D

This time Im hoping to get top 3, although you guys are getting good. This old man cant keep up with you (im almost as old as drogith, i mean wow). :D

Also, ryan you are not on my friends list anymore for some reason. add me. 134.

i know haverhill is more northern mass.... but theres still 2 more LAN centers that havent been announced yet... assuming one is in Kittery maine where a different new england LAN was stationed... but not sure about western mass. although we have had people come from rhode island, new york, southern mass, so i'm sure if anyone is in the area and going you could likely carpool witht hem or wahtever!

Not this season. I didn't get enough information from a LAN center in CT before this was organized to include them. However, the center outside of UConn will be used in the second season to start this summer(June). Other than that, I am not aware of any other places in NE that can handle what we need to play a full tournament.

So starting next season is (in no particular order):
Haverhill, MA
Standish, ME
Dover, NH
Storrs Mansfield, CT

Will we be able to adjust the SC2 settings the way we prefer? For example, I like playing on "Low" graphics settings. Sorry to bring up this sore subject, just curious

Yes, that's not a problem. Doing stuff like that and adjusting mouse/volume settings is all part of setting up from my POV. But if you start getting lag from playing on high or ultra settings, don't come crying to me.

xD Nah, I came up with it on my own.

So far I have a killer PvZ strategy, which frankly I don't think anyone but HP can deal with well. My PvP lately has been really good, but my PvT sort of blows, so I hope I get matched against ajtls for that.

I know his weaknesses.

Just so you guys know, we are now up to 41 registered players and 21 for the first tournament. I am pleased with such an output, but we really need to get the word out. Everyday I run into people that have no idea about the league that are extremely excited about it.

Oh, and don't forget to register or you can't take part in any of the official events.

I will definitely come.

Just registered on the forums (name: Kelsin) and sent my PM but for others here:

Kelsin.935
Zerg

I will be driving up from Framingham MA. If anyone would like to split gas and get a ride from Eastern MA please PM me here or email: kelsin@valefor.com

I will also be going to the other events (that are even closer to me!) as long as calendars don't conflict.

So I've been playing through the map pool and I have a suggestion!
Obsidian Inferno strikes me as a worse version of an already bad map (scrap station ugh). Could we ditch it for a better iccup map, such as fighting spirit?

All the other maps look interesting and fun
edit: or potentially throw in metalopolis/xel naga caverns?

Awww... come on... Obsidian has that little pathway that small units only can hit through. Tac killed me by using that bridge one time. Really freaking annoying. Well, I said I was going to go with the iCCup map pool, and since they update it at the beginning of every month, we'll have to wait until after New Years to get an update on it. I think if you check out the iCCup map pool thread, you can give them your 2 cents about the map so they take it out on this rotation. Get enough people and away it goes.

I agree with Mr.Ranger, Obsidian isn't one of the best maps, neither is Match Point. Then again I could always veto them out. Hopefully I've improved enough to be somewhat of a threat. ^_^

You misread the rule. The people that place in the top 3 of any of the qualifiers, are not allowed to participate in the other qualifiers. Everyone else can partake in as many qualifiers as they want if the don't finish in the top 3.

The iCCup pool doesn't keep restrictions to only iCCup maps. The first and second maplists that they put out had the likes of LT, Metal, and Xel in them at different times. Plus, we may be getting some support from iCCup via publicity, which believe it or not will help out a bunch. An updated maplist should also be coming out in a few days, so we'll see if any of the blizzard ones made the cut this time around.

Ladies and gentlemen, the map pool has been updated for January!

iCCup Enigma has been removed!
iCCup Testbug has been added!

An additional note should be added, there is a problem with a recent change to marauder size preventing them access to the bridge on Obsidian Inferno. Until further notice, iCCup has suspended that map. I'll keep you guys updated with the new status.

I've yet to even download much less play on any of these maps.

Edit: Is there a way of me to look at the maps without using SC2? Even if it's just a big picture of the whole map...

The tournament is fast approaching which means the cut-off date for registration. We currently have a full roster and are now 8 deep in reserve, however that doesn't mean that people will cancel or no show. Sign up now! This Friday I will be sending PMs out to the 32 man list for a final yay/nay and will be giving a complete participant list as promised. I look forward to meeting as many of you can and will see you there.

2 quick announcements.
1. Obsidian Inferno has been officially replaced with iCCup Enigma for the map pool.
2. Due to cancellations or no response, there are now 4 spots open for the tournament. However, there are 5 people in reserve for those spots. If 2 or more cancel as well, there will be open spots for whomever wants to enter. Just register before Friday in the forumsand PM me if you are interested.

We do have a bunch of people car pooling, but I don't know if anyone is coming up from that area... I THINK one of the guys lives in Beverly, but I'm not sure if he is going to the tourney.

Also, I'm really, really excited for this. Tomorrow will be a blast.

Edit: If you can't get a ride I might be able to help out. I may not have any room left in my car. T_T

Weather is B E A beautiful... minus the whole temperature thing, so tourney is on. I also just got off the phone with G2. Laptops are fine to bring, though don't bring them all or it will suck up the bandwidth. Also, if you get knocked out of the tournament and wish to use the computers when there are some available (less than 14 active players) $5 to play and you are all set for the night. Food will not be provided, but Weeksies is right next door and does deliver in... I think... I'll be going over everything again tomorrow.

Great tournament eveyone. Jesus, I mean Drogith, thanks for casting like a bad man again. Congrats to the winners, I am not sure who won in the final game but I was tired and I had a long ride ahead of me so I left before that was over.

After tonight I realized that my early game needs some ironing out and in certian match ups, like zvT, a complete makeover. Very well played by both ryan and by our terran buddy (forgetting his name atm).

It was nice to see everyone again and meet new people. Congrats again.

Thank you everyone who watched and came to show your support for both iCCup maps and the New England SC2 League. I will have the qualifiers for both February and March posted by Monday/Tuesday based on how much time my wife gives me on the comp XD

Great fun! Thanks again to Drogith for casting and organizing, and everyone else who helped out.

Some brilliant play all around. Congratulations to the winners. Can't wait 'till the next one.

I may try to see if I can come out for this next time, should it not conflict with TL Open. Sounds like it was a nice tournament!
